Staff are very welcoming, informative and helpful, every visit I have had to make, to my storage. The cost, (especially during these difficult Financial Times), the storage is very reasonable, over its competitors’Big Yellow storage’ who are much more expensive, for the same sized storage. Being centrally located Access Storage is also very convenient, and ideal for everyone.

Disappointed Long-Term Customer – Poor Experience

I’ve been a customer for several years, but unfortunately, this will be the last time I use Access Storage. I gave notice of my intention to leave via multiple emails, but received no response. Due to this lack of communication and what I can only describe as management incompetence, I ended up being charged for extra time I didn’t intend to use.

It feels like I was taken advantage of, and I’m really unhappy with the way it was handled. Prices have also gone up significantly, and honestly, I don’t even know what I’m paying for—are gas and electricity somehow being used in my storage unit?

Overall, a disappointing and frustrating experience. There are now better and more competitively priced alternatives out there, and I would strongly advise others to consider those instead.

Fast, efficient, helpful, considerate, kind. The team in the Chinatown/Birmingham branch are all wonderful people and very professional in what they do.

To start with, they respond promptly to customer phone calls - a rarity these days, but something essential that builds confidence, considering that the customer will trust valuable belongings with them.

I am a long-time old customer returning after 8 years and I felt welcome like I came back to friends and family.

I called in desperation and under lot of stress and pressure and Julian - usually working in another branch, but I had spoken to him in the past and he had helped another family member, was very friendly and reassuring and most of all took in consideration my needs so to find a unit suitable for me. Sam, lovely lady who was also there when I was renting 2 units for long time years ago, was warm, friendly and practically helpful with useful tips when I called the next day. When I went for the contract Dominic, a new to me member of staff, was so friendly, efficient and welcoming when I went in to sign the contract. Few weeks later I needed a second unit and Asim, another member of staff I had not seen before was ever so helpful, wfficient, friendly and very quickly sorted out my new contract.

Finally, whatever I say about Mike, the branch’s outstanding manager, will not be enough. In fact the car driver I had brought with me to help me with moving by belongings, was so impressed that he was asking information about renting a small unit to move there valuable objects from his house.

I had a 5* experience with this branch as a longtime customer in the past and I had chosen Access after thorough and extensive search on the Internet reading reviews and visiting the sites. I ranked Access as the best and I trust that, years later they will still be the same good if not even better. As for the team in the Chinatown branch, they are an asset to the Access company and I hope that the higher managers reward them with what they deserve. A big Thank you :)

Neha and Dominic were super helpful! Very polite and informative. Storage units were clean, spacious and easy to find.

Secure and clean. Can't ask for more. The staff were always helpful, and explained everything well whenever I had any queries. I only left as I've found somewhere else with 24 hour access. That's the only downside, it's open during office hours so your only chance of using it is on your days off.

Very polite and organized service

This was my second time using Access Self Storage on Sherlock Street in Birmingham. The entire team there are friendly and helpful but in particular Holly who is very proactive, and has always done everything that she can to make moving my stuff into, and out of, a storage unit as easy as possible. Thank you!

I have and still am having a terrible experience with this store

The lady at the front desk of this store (blonde hair) is very passive aggressive and patronising. You can tell she does not want be there and does not want to be bothered.

This store added additional payments to my account for no reason and now has threatened to action will be taken. I tried to phone the store for them to explain this additional payment and payment in general because something did not seem right. When I called they had blocked my number from calling the store, or would ring once and go to voicemail.

I then sent them an email letting them know I had to speak to them and it was not acceptable to be blocking costumers calls that use the company, I told them I would like to speak to the manager or higher as this is not acceptable to be treating customers that way

Mike the store manger called me back. I would also like to confirm that Mike blocked my number or advised for a member of his staff to do this.
While on the phone with Mike I was disgusted by his attitude and behaviour. He insinuated I was stupid on multiple occasions, huffed and puffed, sighed and was very disinterested in my situation.
On emails Mike and his team do not say Hi or kind regards, they just write the contents of the email. I find this very rude and unprofessional.

I will also be taking this further and speaking to Mikes management as the additional payment has come from nowhere send I still don’t understand why.

very thing went wrong and the company cannot improve if they are trying to scam you for extra cost from the original quote. £44:50 for the 8 weeks was original quote; When I arrived the scamming woman said £70:00 for the 8 weeks: The original quote is shown below:

Very helpful staff, easy to set up

Reliable storage place with very helpful and polite employees, prices are a bit expensive but your things are insured and protected!

Access Self Storage have the best prices for storage units that I've found in Birmingham. The move-in process was quick and friendly staff were able to help me with any questions that I had. The facilities are secure and have CCTV inside and outside, which gives me peace of mind that my belongings are safe there.

After 2 months of staying here, the rent of the unit went up slightly. I had called to ask why; it’s part of their T&Cs but if I’d like to discuss keeping the rent down I should email, the email given which goes to the store manager. I did this and got no response.

When it came to the day of the increase, I called up and spoke to the store manager. He told me he didn’t receive and couldn’t see it -_- . What a coincidence. By the way, this store manager is an absolute condescending snob, FYI. He couldn’t help me regardless, told me that what I was paying was significantly less than the new current rate. How does that even make sense? Nonetheless, I took it the chin and still proceeded to store my items.

Another 2 months later, basically by the 4th month, the rent went up again more that double what it was last time. This was final straw, I called up again and was told to email again if price is the issue, that they’re unbeatable on price and didn’t even bother because I knew it would be the same nonsense story again. I then handed in my notice to leave the unit before the end of the month because there was no way I was going to pay that increase or stay.

During, this time I managed to find another unit @ Big Yellow which is a 10minute drive away. The unit is an extra 5m2 than what I had here, the price is much less than what I was paying up until the time I left & the price is fixed for 6months - if it does go up after then it’s ever so slight plus 24 hours access too.

When I was checking out, I was a day late because I was stranded the day before, I informed them of this and they told me it was fine no problem. I came in the next day, and there’s a red lock on my door 😂😭. I go downstairs and they said to me I’m overdue, that I need to pay £24 (for 1 day) or the full months ahead rent and they will refund me the balance despite me not being told the day before this was the case. I’m talking to Holly, professionally helping me then Mikey the store manger butts I’m going back and forth with me on options- he was talking to me in such a rude and condescending manner. Sounded so miserable. He was so annoyed he told Holly to charge the full months rent and stormed off😂 extremely childish behaviour.

Anyway, I shut that conversation down and went back to speak to Holly. She so lovely and charged the card with only £24 🙃. Strangely enough, the payment bounced back and credited back luckily.

I believe their increase is one of their ploys depending on how long you need to stay etc. lost all trust in them as a result and DO NOT RECOMMEND.

I do recommend Big Yellow Storage, it’s more value for money and cheaper than here. I did my check in with the store manager there and is a clear gem to their company.
