The Alvarez guitar itself is nice. I just bought the AG60CE back in January. The problem is, the company itself, in St. Louis does not stand behind their products, and does not give a crap about their customers. They built me a defective product, where the L.R. Baggs electronics were completely shot... Even the tuner didn't work. They said they would fix it for me, but I had to pay the $160.01 to ship it to them. Imagine that? They made me pay an additional 40% of the price of the guitar to fix their own mistake.

If anyone really wants an Alvarez guitar, I highly recommend buying a used one.

This strange policy makes me believe that this is an ongoing problem with the company. I mean, if I were the only one that had a problem with their guitars, wouldn't they be more than willing to pay for their defective product?

I have been writing and recording music since 1984. I have co-written music with many noble people in the past recent years. I currently write and record commercially licensed music.

I need an affordable acoustic guitar that I could use for recording new songs as well as bring out to certain live performances. I found an older model Alvarez acoustic electric RD8C dreadnought cutaway model. The guitar was well played but in good shape, and I was really taken aback at how the volume of each string was very "equal" in regards to each strum. One thing I noticed, was one of the "screws" for the built in piezo eq was missing. I sent an email to Alvarez Guitars support, and I quickly received an email back... actually a few emails back. Not only did this company send me the needs screws for free, they gave me "outstanding" customer service and great professional courtesy. While other music instrument companies would not even acknowledge an email like I sent, this company did. And that is why I wanted to write my review today. I "highly" recommend this company. And when I end up needing a new acoustic guitar, they are going to the first and ONLY company I go to !
