AuthorHouse provided an excellent and informative way for me to publish my book. I was informed with pertinent information along the way. I highly recommend their services.
The staff at Authorhouse walked me step by step through the entire publishing process.
Eve Ardel guided me through the process and took care of most of my questions. The rest of your staff kept asking for money without guarantees of the outcome.
Exceeded all of our expectations. Everyone was very helpful to us new authors.
Today, I (as an author) tried to find out about my "Royalties". The customer rep's kept addressing me as Miss (not by my last name and that an email was sent out to all of the authors regarding no more paper royalty checks. When I tried to "Request" for another email be sent out to me, she started calling me "Miss" (again) and that this was actually done by the computer (🤦♀️). When I started to see that, I was not going to get anywhere with this customer rep, I had begun to request for a Supervisor, she would then go on as to telling me, that there was no supervisor that I could speak with at this time (is this really happening right now...I said to myself 🤦♀️). I think that I need to take my "Art" Work elsewhere.🤔✍️
Author House published two books for me. I haven't received royalties for the books sold. My books were even on Ealmart.com, therefore they were sold to them. The number sold?
Royalties given? No.
They have books sold on several sites. They dont let you keep track of the sales.
Patient and friendly made the process smooth and fast considerate and work with you to publish your masterpiece
I published two books with Author Scam in 2010, and 2011 and spent thousands. I didn't receive a single Royalty. I am now taking legal action which is a slow expensive process. They are CRIMINALS
The Customer Service Representatives are courteous and knowledgeable. But they need to speak a little slower and clearer speaking English.
The staff at AuthorHouse were courteous, professional and quick to respond to my emails. I couldn't have been happier with their assistance in managing my book. In fact, I have signed a contract with them for my second book and I am looking forward to the same level of help.
I have written and had 4 books published by Author House. The first book rendered up a very small amount of royalties but every now and then I would get a cheque for around £2. That was years ago. Now I get nothing. I know my books are selling because I've had feedback from readers. Author house website now implies that the first 2 books didn't sell any copies at all? They are keeping the royalties from the other books because they've not reached the self-imposed £75 minimum value! Then I've just discovered that you must have a bank account in the USA! How could I possibly comply with that when they know I live in Britain? I've tried complaining but it's all just a big scam. Beware!
Things that I disliked about the publishing process were as follows:
The transparency on the marketing portion wasn't there. I didn't see it even mentioned on the Plan listing, not even as an extra. I was shocked to learn the marketing package was separate and another $1200, after I just dropped $1399 to have the book processed. Also, I understand everyone is busy, but it is really hard to get in touch with my contacts over the phone. Also, I had to contact the company again about getting the marketing materials that were a part of the plan I processed. You guys should have contacted me first about it. One positive I could say though is that I do like the quality of the book printed better from authorhouse vs what I have seen come out of amazon.
My experience with Author House was great they their gave up on me it took Me longest but they help me all way l’m so Happy
Everything was great with the exception of the
Marketing department that sells upgraded social media, Amazon, etc. initial sales, production, and book ordering all very good.
Well I thought the finish product was good and now I know the experience and hope changes are made to further the experience of the writer and author as well.
The process was very efficient and the end product was just what I envisioned.
Production, designers, and editors need more connections with the book and the author. It's impossible to make a good cover and book design if people don't have either a clue nor idea what's the book about.
Author house got me started in the self publishing world but in such very wrong ways: it couldn’t provide the size book I wanted—-I hated the large square size. It couldn’t provide the sales price I wanted—-they charged more than $20 a copy for a children’s paperback book! And their royalties stink. Like a few cents per book with that kind of sales price. Finally, they insisted on my bank account information or they wouldn’t pay me the royalties. They refused to send a check or pay by zelle or venmo. They wanted direct deposit into my bank account and since I left them for a much better priced and sized book and fatter royalties—-I don’t want them having my bank account info. I’m so sad I used them. I changed publishers but cannot get rid of their ads coming in front of my new ones. It’s a big mess.
I did not like any of the things done after the book was published to Amazon. After I turned down an excessive marketing plan of $11,700!!! I have had no help with marketing. I can't even find out things I need to know such as how to work with bookstores.
