WORST COMPANY EVER
I purchased my Boox Palma 2 Pro from the company website.
I MUST say that Boox is the WORST company I have dealt with in my entire adult life. They have no phone support, and their email/chat system is totally broken. They are very kind and apologetic about issues that never should NEVER occur IN THE FIRST PLACE.
I really wanted to like the Palma 2 Pro and had BIG plans to use it, but when it stopped responding to certain swipes I had had enough. BECAUSE I could not get support fast enough.
It started with a technical question. I wanted to know how to do something BUT, the only way I could find support was via email. Their response time for an email is 2-4 days, and over weekends, 4 days are the norm. When the answer to what you need is about how this or that functions, one cannot go to the next step in learning how to use the unit until you get that answer. Their “manual “was lacking. That went on for weeks, being hampered by their non-support system. And the worst part is that it happened over and over again.
Most important, nowhere did it say that Chat could be used for support. After 23 email exchanges, no one told me that.
So, for 2 months of trying to make it part of my workflow (they gave me an extra 30 days trial period), I would proceed in fits and starts, WAITING FOR A RETURN EMAIL of how to do something. I really wanted the Palma 2 Pro to work for me, but my decision was based on the incredibly TERRIBLE support system they have.
I went on to purchase one of the iflytek ainote pad and couldn’t be happier,
So, if you like the aggravation of a “growing pains” company, go for it. But my experience was that of a VERY frustrated customer.
Do not buy - Rubbish product and service and you’ll end up paying for nothing!
I ordered the Boox Go 10.3 directly from the UK warehouse, hoping for a solid e-ink tablet experience. Unfortunately, the device and the customer service were both extremely disappointing.
Right out of the box, the initial update took over 12 hours, which felt excessive. Once it finally completed, the tablet itself felt clunky and glitchy, not the smooth, polished experience I expected from a product at this price point.
Deciding to return it should have been straightforward, but it wasn’t. When buying directly from Boox, returns are not free. I had to pay €20 for the return shipping, something that would not have been an issue with Amazon or other retailers. I regret purchasing the tablet + cover bundle on the Boox website, as the cover was mediocre and not particularly useful.
The worst part was dealing with customer service. I had to send photos and answer repeated questions, and the tone of the replies felt discourteous and unnecessarily confrontational. I was asked whether I had the replacement nibs and warned I’d be charged another €19.99 if they were missing. The nibs were tucked inside a small, flimsy black cardboard sleeve that looks like disposable packaging exactly the kind of thing most people would throw away without realising it contained essential accessories.
After all the back and forth, it took 3 days just to get a return label. Then once the item was returned, it took over 2 weeks for them to refund the money.
Then comes the worst of all bit. When I purchased from the UK site, I thought I am paying in GBP. But only when they refunded (PayPal) I noticed my I had to pay £37 (which was the equivalent of the €20 shipping fee to return the rubbish item adjusted and increased due to forex prices on the day I purchased and they eventually refunded!). So the bottom line is I ended up paying £37 for nothing! It must be an organised day light robbery that this company has been doing to make money out of selling rubbish products when they eventually get returned. Needless to say this whole saga left a lasting bad taste with me.
I do not recommend the product, and had the worst of the customer service. There are far better products and far better companies out there to spend your hard earned money on.
Lies and unreliability
Hello Boox,
I am really really unhappy with your product. It is properly impossible to make a drawing such as the ones you showcase on your website on the tablet, for the simple reason that, at the moment you have more than 10 shapes selected, there are "Too many strokes to copy".
I will pass on the customer unfriendly experience when actions keep being forgotten, when you are unwillingly transferred from the lasso to the brush.
You claim that you provide a drawing tablet but it is not. You can definitely not draw with this.
You are robbing people who think that you provide something sturdy and reliable, when it is actually only a very expensive reading tablet.
I have mentioned my problems many times. It take you ages to get back to me. I am seriously offended with the pretentious object you provide your customers with.
Obviously the word of mouth will not be good. Because simply there is nothing good to share about your product
Don't buy it
This is literally the worst e-book reader that could ever exist. It takes ages to load, downloading books from personal drives works once in a while and some software (like Adobe DRM!) are no longer supported.
Avoid!
Boox are so bad it's almost comical. They were my accountants for 3 years and it was such a stressful experience. I once asked them to do my tax return and it took 9 months of me chasing them constantly for them to actually do it. It got so close to the deadline that I had to threaten to go to their offices just to get someone to respond to me. Being new to freelancing and having all my data already with them, I felt stuck with them and as if I couldn't go elsewhere. I really can't stress how unprofessional, inexperienced and utterly useless this lot are. You really need to go elsewhere and/or ditch them as soon as possible. Tax scouts are great - try them instead.

STAFF WERE OF VERY POOR ACCOUNTING QUALITY.They were never helpfull,they gave me false info.All they were intetested in was screwing as much money out of you as quick as possible...AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Either they sold or were absorbed by another company in November 2022. All I know is that they owe me money for work they never completed, kept asking me for money despite owing me. They are not a company that encountered difficulties, they are crooks, they know exactly what they were doing and I hope those who worked there never get to work again in accountancy, because they were part of this.

Totally unprofessional- trouble started since new app. Trying to call for some advice and message on answerphone so can’t even talk to anyone. Won’t respond to emails. Total joke do not recommend…
Awful service
This company really needs to get their act together, they used to be decent but in the last 5 years not a single time have they resolved anything promptly, every query takes weeks to even get a first response and they don't follow up on anything.
I’m desperate at this point.
I’ve used Boox for about 4-5 years now.
And please don’t think this is a pure negative review-
To start with, they were great, they set up my company for me and really helped me get along. The team responded quickly to all inquiries and were always very helpful.
I stopped being self employed on the 1st of June 2021.
Since then, it took 11 months to get my application by Boox for the company to be struck off.
I then received a fine from HMRC for not filing self assessment which Boox had been authorised to submit with plenty of time.
Luckily, managed to get the fine wiped off as HMRC could see I had made a tax payment before the due date (for the amount Boox had told me I needed to pay in January).
Boox just said there had been a filing error and apologised. Which I’m fine with, everyone’s human?
I’ve now been waiting for a reply for over a month on a time crucial matter regarding self assesment that now needs completing in the next 20 days so I don’t have to pay projected tax for a year I wasn’t self employed. (As I became PAYE employed in June. So should only pay the projected tax for April-June 2021, not a full year. I first inquired about getting this done at the start of April this year and then waited months for them to finalise pricing)
I’ve emailed multiple times with no response and the projected payment is due on the 31st July.
I hate to leave negative reviews, come on team, you were always fantastic in the past and I really don’t know what’s happened to the service over the last 18 months.
I know you can pull it back! But please can somebody help me!
Lack of communication and appalling service.
Joined Boox in Sept 2021 and have already left for new accountant. Not too bad initially with their intuitive software which was easy to use although communication with assigned accountant has always been poor. Things really took a turn for the worse with the introduction of the new Xero software which has been a disaster. Something that promised to migrate accounting information over in a few days took months and was incorrect when it did finally happen. Extremely stressful, so decided to cut my losses and join another accountancy supplier which in itself has been stressful as I'm still to receive confirmation that Boox have received and process my 1 months notice sent in March 2022. The only responses I seem to be getting back are additional service requests from Boox such as insurance and SA returns, no thanks.....
Steer well clear!
After years of flawless and simple dependability, I've got to echo the comments of others and say the Xero migration has been an absolute disaster. Two months on, and I've had no help, loads of stuff doesn't work properly, and I have no faith at all that anything will get resolved. It's been enormously stressful and I'm extremely concerned it'll leave me out of pocket if they make a mistake. I'm probably going to shut my company down and start again somewhere else.
I've had no refund or compensation for this, and communication has been utterly hopeless. Given how much they charge, it's utterly infuriating.

Can only add to others comments that the migration to Xero has been as disaster. 2 months in and the Xero info remains totally inaccurate. Numerous complaints, no response and no nearer getting it sorted. Despite the hassle am moving elsewhere.
Well saved
I have been with Boox since I started 7 years ago and their system has been flawless. After a wobble last month due to a change in software, I can see the advantages of the switchover. A massive thank you to Joe for being patient with me whilst teaching me the new goodies!

Don't waste your time!
I have been with Boox for about eight years, and they have been primarily ok up until now. In February, they took down the Boox accounting app to migrate data to a new accounting software Xero. A month later, they haven't migrated any of the data to the new application so I'm left without access to my accounts or a response from them on a date when this may be resolved. Trying to contact them by email ends up with copy and paste replies and no answers to actual questions asked. Really disappointed to find after a month that the Xero app hasn't been even basically set up with contacts, bank details, company details to allow me to run my business. Would not recommend anyone to sign up with them now and I expect I will be leaving them very soon, really concerned about trying to regain all the data that I had on the original app, Boox appears to not show any remorse for the time wasted and have not even offered a discount for the significant downtime experienced so far.

Have used Boox for around 4 years now, for over 3 years they have been great, over the last few months communication has dropped and when you call you just seem to get whoever picks up first. I almost missed my cooperation tax payment as it was only sent to me on the 31st December (last day to Pay). Service has again declined since they have shut down the Boox software ( that worked perfectly ) and now replaced it with the Xero software, it has taken over 2 weeks to migrate some of my data , yet I still cant use the system. I was told at the time I wouldn't migrate until I was happy using the new app, yet they shut it down and then left me with nothing to use, this is still the case I will be looking for a new service ASAP. What shame that it has come to this
