We had a really great experience with Boulter and Company Solicitors for our house purchase. The whole team was supportive, responsive, and made the process much less stressful than we expected.

Parminder Virdee was amazing throughout my first home purchase. She went above and beyond working to help me meet a personal deadline and kept in touch regularly and made sure I was always up to date, which made the whole process feel much less overwhelming.
Parminder did a great job managing the progress of the sale and dealing with the developer and property agents too. Everything felt really well organised and under control. She’s incredibly knowledgeable, and combined with her friendly, positive attitude, it always felt like I was in very safe hands. I couldn’t have asked for better support and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her.

I used John Appleton at Boulter & Co for my house purchase in 2024. The initial process was fairly quick, but everything after completion has been a complete nightmare.

It turns out the property was mis-sold to me. What I believed to be grass next to my house is actually a road, something that should have been identified during conveyancing. For an entire year, John repeatedly assured me this was not a conveyancing issue but an error by HM Land Registry, claiming they simply needed to amend the paperwork to show the burden of the road.

For a full year, he lied and said he was “chasing up” HM Land Registry, leaving me to do all the follow-ups myself. HM Land Registry consistently confirmed that it was not their issue, while John continued insisting it was. As my legal representative, I trusted him , clearly my mistake.

The final straw came in January 2025. In December, John told me that the contact at ICR who handles HMLR disputes understood the situation and would review it further. I thanked him and wished him a good Christmas, expecting it to be handled. By late January, after several reassurances that he was “still waiting for a reply,” I contacted ICR myself — only to learn the case had been closed in December. John had been lying once again but this time I have evidence that he cannot get out of.

When confronted, he stopped responding entirely. Since then, John has conveniently been removed from all correspondence and has now disappeared from the Boulter & Co website altogether. I later discovered he has moved to another firm — and I will absolutely be warning anyone who considers using him there too. He has single-handedly caused me the utmost stress through a complete lack of care, honesty, and interest in resolving the serious issues he created.

I filed a formal complaint with Boulter & Co, but the handling was just as poor. The managing director, Andrew, attached emails showing that confidential documents were sent to the wrong address due to a typo. Errors happen, but this level of carelessness from a solicitor is deeply concerning. Even worse, Andrew attempted to suggest that I had received the email anyway — and then stopped responding altogether when challenged.

A third person, Rupert, later became involved and instead of acknowledging the proven errors or John’s deceit, he doubled down, continuing to ignore both the evidence and their firm’s failures.

This entire experience has been beyond stressful. I am now left in an ongoing legal dispute purely because of their negligence and dishonesty.

Avoid both at all costs. This firm and this solicitor have caused me more stress than I can put into words.

From instruction to completion 7 weeks later they were responsive, thorough and an absolute pleasure to deal with! Quite possibly the hardest working solicitors firm ever. After 3 fall throughs (just bad luck and dodgy buyers), all the staff we encountered at Boulter & Co. were very professional and hard working. I have never worked with a law firm that provided such poor service and had such disrespectful and weak customer relations. This firm was recommended to me by my broker, and I deeply regret ever working with them.

They have absolutely no regard for customer satisfaction. Communication is nearly impossible—we've sent countless emails and made numerous phone calls, yet never received a proper response. We purchased our flat on December 6, 2022, and only recently discovered by chance that the land register was never even completed. There was no notice, no explanation. Even their managers are completely indifferent.

The solicitor handling our case, Ms. Ayse Seyer, is extremely inexperienced, unprofessional, and quite disrespectful. She initially informed us that a certain fee was to be paid by the other party and not us. However, on the final signing day, she demanded we pay that same amount, saying she wouldn't proceed otherwise. It was absolutely unacceptable and unprofessional behavior that we will never forget.

It’s been over two years, and our legal process is still not complete. We cannot reach them, and they don’t respond to emails or phone calls. I sincerely warn anyone considering this firm: stay away. You will waste your money, your time, and your peace of mind. We are extremely disappointed and will be filing a formal complaint with the appropriate authorities as soon as possible

The staff at Boulters are very professional and reassuring at what is a very stressful time- selling a house! Special mention must go to Shereen Begum who was absolutely brilliant! Thanks to everyone there- I will be back!

This is not meant to be a revenge but a mere warning for those who might look for a solicitor and having to decide which firm to be represented by. It has been a true nightmare full of mistakes, unprofessional behavious and lack of support. I bought a flat in central London this year. The legal fee quote was 1.500 plus 750 of amministrative costs to be covered upfront but I ended up paying over 4k and the justification was that "it works this way and everything was clearly explained upfront". Furthermore there was an extra 2k added to the fee as there was an agreement reached with the vendor for me to refund a whole year of service charge upfront but I was informed on completion day for a total of 6 k of legal fees plus 750.
I have been asked to transfer my deposit of 168k from a day to the next one after weeks of me asking about it and no answers received which put me in a very difficult situation with the bank. The solicitor addressed my complain replying that "otherwise I would be fined as breaching the contract".
The assigned solicitor was Sally Louca that I never had the chance to meet not even when physically reached the firm office to sign the documents. On the contrary I met her trainee Ayse Seyer, who took completely over even with email corrispondece , with no warning, and shw was unprepared about so many things I basically had to start over again halfway. Even the agency that was selling the flat advised me halfway to consider changing the solicitor as they were really not behaving in my interests and were making everything very hard. Styrling Ackroyd themselves stated they rarely had to deal with such a low level of efficiency and very debatable advices.
At the end of the process, there are important reports missing, amongst which the pipe system and tank reports, the current year service charge was missing and hid a 450 pounds yearly increase. I also received from the council, at process finished, some fees to be covered by the previous landlord for work done years before but the firm never came back to me about those and currently having to deal with a new solicitor and the council myself. I sent over 15 emails about thise old fees and they are just not replying anymore.
At the time I also asked to have handed over the right to extende the lease from the vendor but there was no cooperation from the firm so I will now have to wait two years to extend it.
I deeply regret having bought a flat with Boulter and Co, was overall a bad experience and the worse part is that I escalated my concerns and unhappiness on their work and have been totally ignored and still ongoing. Confronting myself with different friends and colleagues who did the same with different firms I realise even more how bad it was.

This is the second time we have used Boulter & Co. We were extremely happy with the service we received for the purchase of our house.
Sally Louca, Shereen Begum & Ayse Seyer was very efficient and provided excellent professional service Both Shereen and Sally ensured that our purchase was stress free; the matter went through in a smooth and timely way. We would use again and happily recommend.

Andri Loizou went out of her way to get our house purchase completed to meet our time scales. She was friendly, proffesssional and made what could have been a stressful time, manageable for us.

Boulter and Company Solicitors in Crouch End completed the conveyancing for my dad’s flat in July 24 and I have to say they provided a very very efficient and professional service and were extremely friendly and polite too. I really liked Ayse, Sally and David. They were so helpful even with a query about a discretionary trust fund, they offered advice about without demanding payment. I’ve used solicitors before, Waddington Turner Wall; Streathers Boustreds, etc. and they all use para legals and trainee solicitors so it is perfectly normal to not speak very much to the main solicitor - if at all. Solicitors work extremely hard and have a lot of responsibility guaranteeing their work so you must expect this as normal protocol.

Take your own risk here, would completely avoid if i was you. Close to scam artists these guys. Happy to take your money, but will not get back to you after theyve taken it!

I was allocated the terrible solicitor named 'Andri'. After she had taken the deposit money, I could only reach her assistant. This went on for days to the point the assistant was embarrassed to repeat the same line that Andri was not able to take the call right now and she would call back. I heard the same line over the course of 3 weeks!

I was told the initial staff who had my case had left the company, the next person who was allocated apparently fell ill and was at the hospital and then three weeks later when the original solicitor returned, I was informed she was actually on annual leave for all those weeks!

In the end the property fell through and I was tied in due to this terrible firm. Would not recommend unless you want even more stress as part of the home buying process.

I haven’t dealt with them directly but the seller I bought my property from used them. It seems that they have made an error and provided out of date fixtures and fitting form which resulted in me having lots old furniture left in the property I recently bought which I didn’t want. It has delayed me to move in and cost me extra money to remove the furniture and they just can’t come up with an answer. Both my solicitor and the seller have been chasing but it has been a week and no concrete answer in who is going to reimburse me removing the furniture. If it’s their mistake the least they can do as a ‘reputable’ law firm is admit to their mistake. So not only they took about 8 months to answer all enquiries but now they are causing another delay for me. I would think twice before using them.
