Bury Council

Bury Council What a shambolic bunch of moronic fools wasting public money on rubbish, now public money being wasted (spent) on the "flexy hall", the council are already 23 million pound in debt. "Send in the clowns"

Absolutely useless. First bin collection post Christmas. Six weeks worth of food scraps, etc. All neighbours bins except mine emptied so I reported it and got the above ref:number. I asked the help line what to do and was advised to just leave the bin out and it would be collected. Another week gone by and, surprise surprise, no action. It's not as if this is the first time with problems with bins. It is becoming quite regular.
Update: Another collection day (24.01.24), another missed collection. Reported again (WS580264540) but not hopeful. My brown bin has now not been emptied since before Christmas. What a completely useless service.

Bin collection

Just happened to be looking out my window when the bin collector decided to look in my bin then not take it to be emptied.when I asked him why, when he was halfway down the road,he said with an attitude your bin should have been out then.i then proceeded to tell him it is out and I saw him leave it he sort of apologized then took it to be emptied.but at no surprise to me he then left the bin halfway down the road!!.I can only presume he was annoyed at the weather and the bin was full and didn't want to take it 3ft to the truck to empty it.If u don't like your job and don't want to do it then leave let someone else secure a wage.Bury council you really do employ the best well done

Ignored by Bury Council officers…

We have been waiting for Bury Council inspectors to find the cause of the damage to our and next door properties by their tree roots for 4 months, and have been continually fobbed off. Our MP, Christian Wakeford has also chased them and he has been given different answers to those given to us. It is impossible to directly speak to the person in charge,(a business support officer, and I'm not sure why somebody with that title should be involved, because we are not a business) as Bury Council seem to have a system where you have to speak to a sentry who will relay your problem, which is then totally ignored and is unfair as even somebody with a high-ranking title is after all public service employee paid directly from our council tax. Maybe the reason we see nothing other than the bins being emptied for our £150+ a month is to maintain this multi-tiered system of management!

The tail is wagging the dog...

We've moved into a new property 3 months ago and have been chasing Bury Council to send the Council Tax documentation. The departments clearly don't talk to each other as we then started to receive reminders for non-payment and threats to issue legal proceedings. When we speak to them on the phone they say to ignore the letters yet they continue to send such documentation. RIDICULOUS!

Hi being a disabled person I had to…

Hi being a disabled person I had to renew my parking badge. It’s taken me over two months every time I contacted them they would say I had to get something else. The last thing they wanted was a letter from our doctor itemising my disabilities which we did at a cost of £15. I’ve got a lot of problems that will never get better only worse I don’t know why this happened but it did nothing but stress us out a great deal WHY was it made so difficult 😞.yours sincerely.

Adult Care Services prioritize loop-holes at the expense of vulnerable residents

Adult Care Services prioritize loop-holes at the expense of vulnerable residents

Since my Mum suffered Strokes in 2012 which have massively impacted her health, we have encountered a barrage of unhelpful bureaucratic barriers; including her unable to qualify for NHS Continuing Health Care where her very real health needs have been totally ignored. CHC is a free legal entitlement of health care irrespective of a person's assets, its sole focus is on health needs only - not the CCG's budgetary constraints. CONTINUING HEALTH CARE IS THE NHS'S BEST KEPT SECRET. All social workers since 2012 have deliberately avoided my Mum qualifying for CHC, instead she is forced to pay for inadequate care and her health severely neglected as a consequence.

I have been informed that; 'CHC Funding is available to meet an individual's health and associated social care needs that have arisen as a result of disability, accident or illness'.

Since 2012 my Mum has been used as a pawn between Bury Adult Care Services and Bury CCG where the focus is on employing loopholes to suit themselves, as the following makes the situation crystal clear;

'An individual has a primary health need if, having taken account of all their needs (following completion of the Decision Support Tool), it can be said that the main aspects or majority part of the care they require is focused on addressing and/or preventing health needs. Having a primary health need is not about the reason why an individual requires care or support, nor is it based on their diagnosis; it is about the level and type of their overall actual day-to-day care needs taken in their totality”

Hence, the real test is whether the care a person needs is focused on addressing or preventing “health needs” as opposed to meeting social care needs.' - Taken from Landmark Chambers: What is the right approach to a dispute resolution procedure between ccgs and local authorities over eligility for nhs continuing-healthcare.

As a result of my Mum's care passed to social services, she has had no choice but to have a care agency commissioned by the local authority whose carers cause never ending problems. The carers have damaged and destroyed my Mum's belongings which the care manager denies - the care agency's website claims: '.... will do whatever it takes to bring you peace of mind'. The commissioning team claim 'quality assurance' - a Freedom of Information request shows this does not exist. The initial social worker in 2012 promised us: 'All carers entering my Mum's house will treat my Mum's possessions with exactly the same care and consideration like my Mum herself would'.

My Mum lost her independence through devastating ill health where she relies on strangers to take care of her, where she has been subjected to unethical, unjust practises on so many levels; which is degrading of any form of humanity.

I have been informed; 'You have to have been in the situation to have real and proper compassion. Often those that haven't are the decision makers.'

NICE article:

Speaking at the NICE Annual Conference in Liverpool, Professor Haslam said that the reason the NHS is so cherished is that it delivers the services people demand and as a result people's trust is earned.

"Kindness and trust. They are hugely important words because – for me – they sum up the relationships that we each have with the people who work in the NHS and in social care. The words imply a relationship between people. They imply care, community, friendship."

All involved need to take a step back to review their values, to ask themselves how on earth their consciences square their practices when their wages are paid by tax payers money, with how they have repeatedly disregarded the 7 Rules of Public Life (aka the Nolan Principles) and our inelienable Human Rights all this time. All have demonstrated total disregard for my Mum's devastating fragile health situation - where our trust, faith and confidence have been repeatedly destroyed by all professionals who have a duty of care to support and protect all residents but have sadly failed us.

Might is never right, when power over-rides responsibility. Sadly corruption is at the heart of Bury Council like Blackpool Rock.

At the end of the day, every-one who has been involved in my Mum's care since 2012 will one day need care themselves. How would they like to be treated exactly like we have with the same level of heartlessness? A Freedom of Information Request revealed Bury Council treat everyone equal - the opposite has always been the focus. Bury Council's focus and commitment to cuts to the bone on vital services, whilst giving their 13 bosses huge wage increases - neither is morally justifiable or treating everyone equal. My Mum is still a human being with rights and deserves far, far better.

A Secret Society?

Tried to obtain the email address of Geoff Little CEO of Bury Council.
The lady in call answering asked what it is about.
I said corruption.
She told me shortly afterwards that they were not answering the phone and that they were probably at a meeting and requested that I ring back.
She said she did not have email addresses as she was a switchboard operator.
I asked for Customer Services.
I then spoke to a female in Customer Services
I made her aware that I wished to complain about corruption.
She refused to furnish this information.
I then asked for his PA’s email address. This was again refused.
I asked for the email address of their department.
This again was refused.
I asked for an email address of anyone in authority.
Again I was refused, being told email addresses are not given out and I have to go through customer services.
Are Bury Council a Public Service or are they some sort of self contained secret society, funded by the public, for the advancement of their senior personnel?
