Gives a discount. However most sites discount in low season anyway. So VERY difficult to recover your outlay.
Many of the best sites wouldn't be part of the acsi scheme.
Also they wouldn't let me cancel after one season.
We concluded our membership this year because ACSI is nowhere near what it claims to be:
1. The coverage is fractional in the popular tourist areas and approximating to zero in most of central europe. It gives the completely false impression that there are no sites where they don't list them. Use google search and you get the story you should see of abundant sites. We've saved a lot of fuel by so doing.
2. The ACSI listing led us out of our way to closed sites or sites that had changed their opening period since the data was published.
3. The reviews are written for or on behalf of the site with many questionable claims. They are not objective.
4. Of course most sites are what they claim to be in every listing, but we found two appalling sites from the ACSI catalogue. They have had bad reviews but they are still there.
5. ACSI is a provider led organisation, really very little different to an advertising brochure. It is not there to give either comprehensiveness or quality guarantee to campers.
6. The discounts is a misleading claim. For every discount we have had for our ACSI membership, we have had 2 where the normal price is cheaper than the ACSI price, and probably 5 where it has made no difference.
7. ACSI censure reviews that warn other campers off bad sites. They are of course primarily protective to their supplier customers.
