12 nights at the Chelsea Cloisters
We stayed 12 nights at the Chelsea Cloisters in late May and early June 2026. Generally, it was adequate but little more. It was a definite plus to have a mini-kitchen. We had a small refrigerator, a two "burner" induction cooktop (which we did not use) and a microwave. The kitchen had dishes, cups and glasses, flatware for two, several pans, a few utensils, a toaster, a French press coffeemaker and an electric kettle. It met our needs. There were no drawers but there was an acceptably sized wardrobe. The bathroom was clean and modern (though there were a couple places with peeling paint) The entire place (at least the fourth floor) was a bit run down and a touch shabby but tolerable. Our biggest objection to Chelsea Cloisters was the (lack of) elevators. There is a pair of elevators in the lobby but the entire time we were there, they were barricaded with a sign saying that they were in need of service. We were taken to another pair of elevators in the back of the building which were (initially) operational. The problem with these is that we had to walk at least a city block (not an exaggeration) to get to our room (which was immediately adjacent to the non-functioning front elevators). About halfway through our stay, one of the rear elevators quit working, leaving a 10-story building with hundreds of apartments with one functioning - very small - elevator! This was not resolved during our stay and there seemed to be no urgency to resolve it. Distressing at best, an outrage at worst. Had we known what we were in store for, we would have not stayed there and we really can't recommend it.
