Cornish Secrets Reviews 

After provisional booking accepted payment is requested by bank transfer only. When I tried to cancel they then advised that they would accept a credit card payment. I therefore reinstated the booking only to then be told that they couldn't take the damage deposit by card and this would have to be paid by bank transfer. They demanded the full damage deposit over a month before the stay and then held the full deposit for a further two weeks after the stay had ended. The deposit itself amounted to over 25% of the rental for 7 nights.
No essentials (bodywash, shampoo, washing up brush, broom, cooking oil, washing machine powder or liquid), only two handtowels and 3 toilet rolls per 8 guests for 7 nights and one bath towel per guest for 7 nights.
No privacy blinds in living area which can be overlooked by both sides and mis-description regarding safety of property for dogs and children. The garden is not "enclosed" as stated and is definitely not safe for either dogs or children as there is a very low boundary wall which then has a precipitous drop on the road side. There is no gate between the terrace and the front of the property (which is open to the road) and there are gaps under and to the sides of both gates.
All of these matters were raised as feedback but no courtesy of any reply.

Everything went well with booking and arrival arrangements. Took almost 20 minutes to find like all other neighbours.
But Seascape in Newquay although decorated nicely internally and nice location on clifftop (no direct access to beaches) was musty and smelly. The terrace furniture was so dirty and mouldy - not useable. Right next door there were ongoing demolition works and the entrance area to apartment as you want to house, has many uneven timber stairs and was very dilipalidated
None if this was properly highlighted or shown on any photos (which we now have).
We left after 1 day, for a hotel, as the musty smell was simply unbearable. Cornish Secrets refused to refund accommodation costs. Staying in this apartment for the 1st week of our 3 week Cornwall tour would have been a disaster. It is clear that Cornish Secrets don't inspect their properties, and despite photo evidence I sent no acknowledgement - even in part - of issues.
The negative reviews about this company are in my opinion wholy justified. There are far superior letting agents for Cornwall. Avoid Cornish Secrets. An agents job is to vett properties and be supportive of owners and guests. We will be posting this review with photo evidence on other portals.

Do not book with this company, claimed we caused damage to the lounge flooring, they had statements from the housekeeper but no photo evidence. Kept my full deposit without proof. There was no damage and the house was left cleaner than when we arrived, especially the kitchen!

The booking process, communications and assistance were all very good.
The reason for 3 stars is as follows-
Just minutes after arriving home, an email arrived , explaining a complaint about how we left the house and how much would therefore be ducted from the damage deposit! No chance for us to review or comment at all.

It was actually impossible to review the house on this website.

The Beach House Porthtowan review from us would have been. Beware of this owner who deducted £343 from the damage deposit. We feel strongly that this was unacceptable . We accepted a small amount of damage on the vinyl material on a portion of a bed frame.
A bed that was already damaged with broken slats and other damage, £219 yo be deducted which was the cost of a brand new bed frame.
We wrote to Cornish Secrets with our objections, after many emails, they contributed £50 bringing the charge down, and we really appreciated that, but the owners were not open to discussing or reviewing any deductions at all.

Other charges, £50 extra cleaning for bbq that we left very clean, one broken ornament £74. We suggest precious items might be left out of reach of children( who are very welcome on the house details).
There were small things we could have complained about, but we felt were unnecessary, including noisy building work two doors away, that carried on all and every day.
A beautiful house in fabulous position-but beware!!

An excellent company to book a holiday with - very friendly and helpful throughout. They were also quick to respond to queries

Treleigh St Ives is described as a stunning property with stunning views. What is really stunning about this property and its owners is the extortionate price; first week of August almost £8,000 a week. The views are stunning but this property is tired and in desperate need of renovation.
You will be expected to pay £35+ VAT if you don't clean the BBQ after use. You can buy an equivalent model from Amazon with tools and a cover for just under £32!!! Hardly a BBQ fit for a so called exclusive property. It claims to have generous parking but only for a maximum of 3 cars.
The shower heads need cleaning in the ensuite.
The bin area is a health hazard and we saw 3 rates during our one week stay whist putting out the garbage.
The top floor balcony needs maintenance with loose floor boards and the bi fold doors are old and need replacing. We have been blamed for damaging the doors and are now expected to pay money for damage we did not do.
So this so called exclusive property is beyond its sell by date and needs some TLC.
We will go back to Portugal where the villas really are luxurious and better value for money.
Avoid this property its not worth it.

We stayed in Balagan in Rock. The house had no fans provided. After complaining they brought 2 desk fans which for a large house was inadequate . There was building work in the front and back of the property which the owners must have known about and which we were never informed . We relayed this to Cornish secrets who must have know this was going on. It ruined the holiday. They are not helpful at all.

This review relates to Compass Point:
1. The bedrooms were unbearably hot at night with no option to open any windows (only the sliding doors which was not feasible from a safety perspective).
2. The curtains/blinds in the bedrooms were woefully inadequate and provided no light prevention at all. In addition the small windows in the bedrooms had no curtains at all and the bedroom doors were half glazed. This meant that we all woke up every morning at dawn which we did not enjoy.
3. There was no key to the gate of the property. On one evening a group of holidaymakers made their way onto the patio to take some photos of the sea which we did not find acceptable.
4. We found the unprotected drops around the patio and terraces to be potentially quite dangerous.
5. There was a smell of urine in the smaller of the two double bedrooms.
6. A previous guest had locked their profile on Netflix which meant that we were unable to access Netflix on the main television.
7. There was no shade provided outside (eg parasol or awning).
