The booking process was very straightforward.
The booking process was very straightforward. Since I didn’t have a major credit card with me for a deposit as required, I appreciated the option to pay for insurance on the vehicle instead (as an international driver, I was open to that!). The customer service was great. The only challenge I had was finding the office in the car park in Edinburgh.

Attention fraude
Attention fraude ! Malgré une carte de crédit permettant de ne pas payer d'assurance obligatoire, ils m'ont fait payé 280 euros en plus m'indiquant que c'était une caution. Ils m'ont fait cliquer sur une petite tablette et n'ont pas souhaité m'envoyer le contrat indiquant que je le recevrais 24h après par mail. Quelle surprise de voir qu'ils m'avaient mentis et fait signer une assurance obligatoire à près de 45 euros par jour ! Wayne qui était le conseiller présent m'a donc délibérément menti. Aujourd'hui ils m'assurent que je ne serais pas remboursé; C'est une fraude organisée, une plainte va être déposée pour escroquerie, faîtes attention !

Excellent experience
I had a difficult experience with another car hire company the day that I also met Rob and he was a fantastic antidote to the pessimism I was feeling.
He arranged things quickly and kindly and was friendly and easy to deal with throughout.

Extremely efficient and helpful
We have used this company for the last 4 or 5 hires and we have always been met with excellent customer service. Particularly from Edinburgh where we have dealt with the same operator Rob who is extremely efficient and helpful. Even the call centre is operated by friendly staff (real not Ai) who amended a booking for us effectively. I would definitely recommend them. Their information is very clear and the website is easy to use.

Tactfully vague with insurance

I hire cars regularly all over the UK, but this was my first and last time with Drivalia.
I booked well in advance and selected full coverage. At pick-up I was told I had to leave a £350 deposit. I asked for an invoice by email so I could see what the deposit was for, as nothing had been sent to me beforehand. I was assured the invoice would arrive and that the deposit is normally returned within two weeks.
A week after returning home, I still hadn’t received anything. I called Drivalia and finally received the invoice — which showed the £350 was not a deposit at all, but an extra insurance.
This was very surprising, as I had already booked full coverage. After several emails back and forth, I was told that the manager had “clearly explained” that this was insurance. That is simply not true.
Very disappointing experience. Lack of transparency, confusing explanations, and unnecessary pressure.
Never again.
PS added 9-2-25: I see all they do here is add the standard reply, contact us via the portal. I already had contact with them via thier portal, weeks before this review!

Rasche Übergabe in Edingburgh. Fahrzeug war innen und aussen extrem dreckig, dafür konnten wir Tank leer statt voll zurückgeben, immerhin.
Unsere Parkbusse haben sie +60 Pfund auf Kreditkarte belastet, uns aber erst 30 Tage nach abgelaufener Einsprachefrist informiert. Wir hatten keine Chance zu intervenieren. Das ist schlecht
