Starting 31 March 2026, the DVSA is implementing major changes to the driving test booking system to reduce wait times and combat fraudulent activity. Key changes include limiting booking amendments to only two per test (reduced from six), prohibiting instructors from booking on behalf of pupils, and restricting rebookings to nearby test centers.
Key Changes from Spring 2026
Reduced Changes: From 31 March 2026, you can only make a maximum of 2 changes to a booking (date, time, or location).
Learner-Only Booking: Later in spring 2026, learners must book their own tests; instructors will no longer be able to manage this for them.
Geographical Restrictions: Test slots can only be moved to test centres near the original location to prevent "test farming" in lower-demand areas.
Reset Limits: When these rules start, all existing bookings will have their change limit reset to 2, regardless of previous changes.
These changes aim to tackle,as described in a blog post by the DVSA, the use of bots and third-party apps that hoard test slots. Instructors are advised to manage their availability directly through the GOVUK service to align with these new rules.

Wasted of money, no response at all.

Very very disapoinment Pay around 17 £ they send me 2 cancelation which I acept that is fine but they stop sending me cancelations for over 4 months then I did fail test and I though they gona continue send me cancelation beocuse they should do until u dont pass test but I cant log in I cant aces acount lady who was with me in contact from start she dont reply I did send 11 email and not reply for over 2 weeks I am so disapoinment us I read so much good reviev 😔

Easy and quick to use.

The first test the driving Test Genie app offered me was later than the one I had told it I had booked already. It did later offer me other dates but never useful ones, always too distantly in the future. It did feel like a waste of time. I managed frequently to find better test dates than my original booking by simply logging into the official driving booking website. So would I buy Driving Test Genie again? No.

It’s the worst app ever used . Not even a single message received from 7 months . For same location I can see notifications from other apps . The customer support is only one person who knows nothing. They will ignore your emails just after you payed for their subscription .

Works really well & provided a local test pretty quickly! The staff were very helpful over email also, can’t fault the service

So far booked it earlier by 3 weeks. Other have been very last minute. Hoping for some sooner ones!

Very simple and easy to use

Very helpful service. Excellent help from customer service when I needed it.

First time using such a service and was a little skeptical as to how easy it was (surely something would go wrong), but does exactly what you need. Booked the first available test which was available (4 months away at the wrong test centre) using this service, my daughter is booked in next week at our local test centre! Fingers crossed.

I have been struggling to find a test after failing first time. I tried to get a new date and when going to the DVSA site the only available dates were in 6 months! I opt to use Genie services and within the first hour I got the first cancellation message with an earlier date. You get text message and you just need to reply book and they will do the change for you! Much better that other apps that they just send you notifications about the cancellations but you need to use their app to go back to DVSA site and log in and change your appointment yourself, by the time the link works the space is gone! No worries or stress with genie! And you can also message their customer service team which is really helpful to add up to 5 test centres on your cancelation hunt! Wish I knew this app before! Thank you!

My experience with the journey driving cancellation application—and especially with Genie—was exceptional. The customer service was highly responsive on two separate occasions when I needed assistance: once to add extra test locations and another time to resolve an issue with confirming a cancellation. Both times, the support was prompt and effective.
Throughout the process, I received around 12 cancellation offers before finally securing one that matched my preferred timing. The range of cancellations I saw was impressive, spanning from just five days away to nearly two months.
The only point of uncertainty I had was regarding the additional test centres I requested. All the cancellations I received were only for my initial test location (York), and I’m not sure whether the platform actively searched the other locations or if it was just coincidental.
Overall, the experience was excellent—efficient, reliable, and very helpful in getting an earlier driving test.

Took a few weeks but managed to move my test forward a month which was exactly what I was looking for, had booking confirmation come through from DVSA within minutes.

I had my doubts as there are that many apps but Driving Test Genie delivered with an earlier test date and a location very near to me.
I would highly recommend this app as the current DVSA test booking website is extremely hard work!

Used to be great but communication is an issue now, didn’t inform us that restarts are now chargeable despite me having the premium account, no answering of emails. It’s maybe ok if you’re new to it but maybe not so much for retests
