I have to say the service I got from Alistair Shields at Equity Release Scotland I met Alistair at my home a few times he was excellent he was,very helpful and down to earth great at explaining everything about Equity release I felt very relaxed talking to him at no time did he try and pressurise me in anyway and always kept me informed as to how things were moving along! yeah I would definitely recommend Equity Release Scotland.

Our advisor, Anthony Doherty was very personable, professional and knowledgeable in all aspects of advice and guidance throughout the process. Communication was excellent ,for example , he constantly monitored the Market percentage rates and informed us timeously of changes in our favour. The whole process was completed within the designated timeframe.

Sorry I haven't responded earlier about how good Equity Release Scotland were in handling my Equity Release on a small dilapidated property in rural Highlands, I had previous experience with equity release and was so glad that the adviser (Alastair Shields) listened closely to my very individual needs and eventually gave me three different offers/companies to consider which resulted in a perfect outcome for me! I now have a fully renovated cottage and for the first time in my life had enough to decorate, furnish the house from scratch but also to landscape my garden and ensuring that the style and fittings would let me live a lifetime in a home that I have future proofed for almost all eventualities!!! Alastair Shields was our adviser and he worked tirelessly, going way beyond what was expected, to get our loan through. We had issues outwith our control - primarily in relation to the legal process which was more complex than either we, or our solicitor, anticipated, resulting in our loan not being available for completion of our new home purchase. It was an extremely stressful time for us, but Alastair was there every step of the way, constantly liaising with the mortgage company and keeping us updated of developments.

In hindsight, is an equity release loan a good plan for house purchase? - only if the industry wakes up to the needs of the customer and simplifies its processes accordingly. This includes making them more user friendly to conveyancing solicitors.
Is equity release a good idea - absolutely!
And having previously worked in banking and mortgage processing for HSBC, I could not have asked for a better adviser!
Unfortunately for us, equity release for the purpose of house purchase was anything but smooth - we got there in the end, but it was not a pleasant process and it is one that needs a complete review/overhaul if this market segment is expected to increase.

I must say the respect and delicate way my dad was delt with was fantastic. Mr Alastair Shields does the company proud and I cannot advocate how professional he was.
