This company packs a lot in on their tours without it feeling rushed. Our tour guide in Scandinavia was Emma who was knowledgeable, approachable, and super organised. She melded the group together really well and kept us entertained and fully informed. Bogdan, our friendly driver was a super safe driver, a genius at tight corners and Tetris-ing the luggage. The coach was kept so clean I think he must have cleaned it every time we got out!
The accommodation was always very clean, offered generous breakfast buffets and were only a short walk to public transport.

🚨 Tour Leader: A Masterclass in Incompetence

Where do I begin? Our tour leader was an absolute disaster. She treated grown adults—many older than her—as if we were schoolchildren. Her knowledge of the destinations was laughably thin, and her organisational skills? Pretty Nonexistent. We got daily update sheets most times

• She put people on the wrong trains, then scrambled to get them off.
• Gave us incorrect public transport numbers, leaving us stranded or confused.
• Dismissed every concern with a shrug or a snide remark.
• Publicly berated a fellow traveler for wanting to buy water—yes, water—while the driver waited outside the bus.

Every single person on the tour had complaints. She was not just unqualified—she was actively detrimental to the experience.

💸 Optional Tours: A Euro Drain

Optional tours were overpriced and poorly coordinated. You’d pay a premium only to be told to find your own way back, racking up even more costs. She cherry-picked what she thought was “appropriate” and told us to book the rest ourselves—then claimed they’d be cheaper elsewhere. No help, no guidance, just vague mentions and zero follow-through.

🍽️ Optional Dinners: 50€ for Mediocrity

The “optional” dinners were basic at best. You’d pay 50€ for a meal that barely passed as edible, and often had to endure a local tour just to reach the restaurant. Not worth the time, effort, or money.

🚶‍♀️ Walking: Rain, Hail, and Blisters

Prepare to walk over two hours a day—rain, hail, or shine. If you’re hoping for sleep-ins or downtime, forget it. This tour runs you ragged.

🏨 Hotels: From Decent to Disastrous

The starting hotel was lovely. Then it all went downhill until the final two nights. We endured:

• Hotels with broken elevators or stairs to reception.
• Rooms far from city centers, requiring 15–30 minutes of public transport—daunting for many, especially in unfamiliar cities.
• I paid a €3,000 single supplement and got single beds for 15 out of 26 nights. Tour leader didn’t care. Expat customer service gave me lip service.
Huge thanks to the kind men on tour who helped us ladies navigate the chaos.

👥 Fellow Travellers: Mixed Bag

Some lovely people, but rooming issues caused real drama. One woman left halfway through. Another had to travel solo, adding to her expenses. The lack of support was glaring.

🚌 Driver: The Unsung Hero

Our driver was phenomenal. He stepped up when the tour leader’s backpack was stolen on Day 1 in Amsterdam (karma?). He explained things clearly, kept us safe, and was the only professional on the trip. He deserved every tip. She deserved none.

💰 Tipping Scam

Expat played videos suggesting tips of $5–7 USD per day per person. Do the math: that’s nearly $4,000 total. I gave the tour leader nothing. She earned it—in the worst way.

❌ Final Verdict: Never Again

This was my first and last group tour. I’m glad I did it—only because now I know what to avoid. The experience gave me insight, but it was far enjoyable.

The upside - the friends I made

Mike the tour guide and Ash the driver were fantastic. Nearly checked everything off on my bucket list in Uk and Ireland just from this one trip. Thanks for the amazing experience and memories!

Traveling with Expat was one of the great experiences I had. I was traveling with my Sister & daughter. We had amazing experiences. It was packed but full of great destinations. It’s something that I will cherish forever. Our guide Emma & driver Gabby were great! They tried their best to cater our needs in a short span of time. I salute you both. Job well done. From the very beginning the customer service was absolutely amazing!!! Brandon helped us secure our spots on a tour that only had 2 spots left when there was 3 of us! Such an amazing value for your money!! Got to not only see a lot but also learn so much history!!! Our driver Kristof was a literal miracle worker and our tour guide Kevin was just a master act at what he does! Always on top of everything, super organized, well knowledgeable, and just made everything run so smoothly! Some of the best customer service, give these guys a raise!!! We truly enjoyed!!! Would definitely do another tour again.

We had Kevin as our tour leader and he did amazing to make our experience on this tour run smoothly and memorable! It was a busy 2 weeks but I’ll never forget it. Kevin made sure that we were able to get the most out of our trip and always kept the mood positive and playful.

My wife and I joined this tour on 4 Aug 25 and today is the last day of the tour. We have seen and experienced so much in 9 countries. The tour has been meticulously planned and executed by Expat Expatriate and the tour leader. Every move has been done on time thanks to the tour leader's proactive approach and clear and timely instruction.

I recently took the Classic Europe tour, and I couldn’t be more pleased with the experience. From start to finish, everything was outstanding. The tour not only offered incredible insights into Europe’s rich history but also brought the past to life in ways I hadn’t expected. The carefully selected sites, each with its own unique story, made the whole journey feel like a true adventure through time.
The value for money was unbeatable—accommodations, transportation, and meals were all top-tier, and the itinerary was well-paced, allowing us to fully immerse ourselves in each location without feeling rushed.
A big thank you to our fantastic tour leader, Kevin Screen, whose knowledge, warmth, and enthusiasm made the trip even more special. We recently completed the Classic Europe tour with Expat Explorer, led by our amazing tour leader, Kevin Screene, and our skilled driver, Kristophe. We couldn’t be happier with our experience.

As mentioned in the tour information, this is a fast-paced itinerary, but thanks to Kevin’s excellent organization and caring nature, everything ran smoothly from start to finish. He was always helpful and attentive to the group’s needs.

The level of information Kevin provided was excellent—he gave us plenty of insights without going too deep, making it both accessible and engaging. In fact, we found that some of the optional visits with specialized local guides were less interesting than the ones led by Kevin himself. Throughout the journey, he shared a wealth of practical tips, fascinating history, and details about local customs.

A particularly memorable moment was when Kevin helped us celebrate our daughter Florence’s 16th birthday in the beautiful city of Florence—a thoughtful gesture we’ll never forget. Another highlight was his decision to organize a stop at the Vimy Memorial in France, knowing there were several Canadians on the tour. It was a moving and meaningful experience for us.

We also want to thank Kristophe, our driver, whose skill and professionalism made the long distances comfortable and safe.

Overall, this tour exceeded our expectations, and we are so grateful to both Kevin and Kristophe for making it such a memorable adventure. Highly recommended!

From start to finish, this European tour was an absolute dream. The timing and schedule were thoughtfully planned, allowing just the right balance between seeing the highlights and enjoying free time to explore. Every day flowed seamlessly, with no rushed feelings yet no wasted time — a true sign of careful organization.

The itinerary covered some of Europe’s most breathtaking destinations: the historic charm of the UK, the elegance of France, the majestic landscapes of Switzerland, the romance and history of Italy, the cultural richness of Austria, the heritage-filled cities of Germany, the vibrant spirit of the Netherlands, and the fairy-tale beauty of Belgium. Each stop offered something unique, and the sequence of visits made the journey feel like a continuous unfolding story.

The culinary experiences were outstanding — from traditional French pastries and Swiss chocolates to fresh Italian pasta, German pretzels, Belgian waffles, and Dutch cheeses. The selection of restaurants felt authentic and well-chosen, giving us a true taste of each country’s flavor and culture.

Hotel selections were generally good, with comfortable rooms and convenient locations that made exploring easy. The only exceptions were the hotel in Venice, Italy, where the bathroom design lacked a separation between the shower and toilet, making the wet floor potentially unsafe and the two hotels in Germany with no aircon and a heat wave actived. While it didn’t overshadow the trip, it’s worth noting for future improvement.

Our guide Kevin with 20 years of experience, was an absolute gem — knowledgeable, engaging, and attentive to every traveler’s needs. His passion for history, culture, and storytelling brought each destination to life, turning sights into unforgettable memories.

A special mention must go to our driver, Chris, whose skills, professionalism, and calm presence on the road made every journey smooth and safe. Navigating busy city streets and scenic countryside roads with such expertise truly enhanced the experience.

Overall, this tour was a beautifully curated journey through some of Europe’s most iconic places, blending culture, cuisine, comfort, and care. I highly recommend it to anyone seeking a fast-paced, enriching, and unforgettable travel experience.

Our tour guide was one of the best I have had ! He made sure that we were all well as we were traveling high above sea level. He was so knowledgeable about all aspects of Peru. I myself became very ill and he was instrumental in helping me to continue the tour. I give him five stars.

This was my first trip with Expat Explore and my first experience on a guided coach bus tour. I will definitely be going on another Expat Explore trip-hopefully as soon as next summer! I went on the 8 day, 7 country “European Vistas” trip with fabulous tour guide Emma O. and amazing driver Sam! The tour was exactly what I was looking for: a reasonably priced, very well organized whirlwind tour of 7 different countries! As expected, we were up and on the coach bus early each morning, we did lots of walking when touring various cities and landmarks, and the whole trip was action packed! All of the hotels we stayed at were better than I had expected for the price I paid (comparable to the Hampton Inn chain of hotels). The passengers ranged in age from 17-73 with the majority being in their late 30’s to mid-fifties. There were several groups and not just couples (mother and daughter; sisters; extended family of 6; friends; and one solo traveller). I went on all of the optional excursions which were also reasonably priced and well organized. I am used to planning and organizing my own trips so this was a welcome change! All of the planning, organizing, scheduling, and transportation were all done for me. Our tour guide, Emma O., was extremely knowledegeable and gave us interesting summaries of the history of the country or city we were visiting. She gave us helpful tips and insights for our free time. She was very friendly, outgoing, and had a great personality. She made the trip so much fun! Our driver Sam expertly navigated the tricky winding roads of the Swiss Alps in fog and rain (among other places) and made it look easy! I felt very safe and at ease with him at the wheel. He handled all of the luggage like a pro and was always there with a smile to help us off the bus if we needed it. I highly recommend Expat Explore if you are looking for a fun and affordable way to travel!

Great tour with so much to see and do! Our guide Mike Thoms was knowledgeable and funny, and driver Garath was also funny and helpful. Both made the trip memorable and enjoyable and tried hard to accommodate my physical limitations.

I have used them three times. In short, good value. Hotels have got much worse and location is bad, however prices have gone up. I think they overwork the tour guides. The guides now have to do the tours on new places themselves. However I will still go on them. One issue, I had a very expensive ring stolen between 7-9pm at night. I took off due to swelling hands. Hotel and company were no help. Definitely a inside job. So becareful of precious goods.

I did the 15 night Balkan Explorer Tour. Overall, I’m glad I went & saw so many beautiful places. However, this tour is extremely fast paced; it was hard to truly enjoy bc it was so rushed. I learned a 15 day trip w only 2 free days isn’t for me. I’d rather do less countries & spend quality time in each place.
What I liked: Will M our tour guide was sweet, helpful & knowledgeable. Panos, our driver, was also really good. Loved driving through stunning Meteora, walking around beautiful Lake Ohrid & the optionals Acropolis & boat tour (Dubrovnik). Also really enjoyed the 8km walk around Plitvice Lakes; it was lovely! What I didn’t like: hotels jus ok (loved Belvedere hotel in Macedonia tho), included dinners not so great (food at the small cafe in Sarajevo was delicious tho), some veryyy long days on coach & late dinners after 8pm. I highly disliked not spending the night in Montenegro & only getting 1 hr 15 min in Split. Also, we unfortunately didn’t have a good group IMO (1st time this has ever happened to me). We had a large group from Trinidad & many were loud, rude, late, etc which negatively affected the trip (obs not Expat’s fault).

My next Expat trip will by rail & has more free days to explore at my own pace. I also prefer group tours with less ppl, so probably won’t use Expat again after that.

This company has exceptional tour leaders and drivers. My 9 year old daughter forgot her toothbrush in a hotel in Florence. I mentioned it to our tour leader and he said he will get it to her. I wasn't expecting much. To her joy supprise she received her toothbrush I think in Venice. He looked after the elderly with loving care. Sullivan went beyond the call of duty. Ensuring our bags were packed and removed from the bus. He was always on time. Alessandro and him deserve a medal. The games and stories were energizing,

Grateful to expat explore for what was truly an amazing adventure, we saw so much, made so many incredible memories, new friends and have an idea of where we would like to go next time.
We were so lucky to have such a great group, the best team leader Alessandro with his passion and knowledge made it fun, he went above and beyond to keep everyone happy. Also our champion bus driver Silvian who was always friendly and kept us all safe.
