Very helpful and patient advice given on correct sizing and fit of hiking boots for winter multi-day treks in all weathers. Steve C was extremely helpful and resulted in finding the right combination of boot brand, size and what sock to use with it to avoid blisters

Good selection, cheerful staff
We went into Chester Go Outdoors to look at the jackets for my wife. The staff we're very helpful and cheerful with it. We chose Rab microlight alpine jacket at a fair price.

Horrendous
One star at a push, clearly nearing the end of the staffs Monday, horrendous customer service, felt like I was interrupting a staff little get together.. Paul, the most miserable who served me and couldn’t care less if I purchased or not, felt like walking out and leaving with nothing, nice little place with horrible staff .

Excellent advice and service fromPaul
Paul, our assistant, spent a lot of time sitting myself and my husband out for upcoming cruise to Norway. Nothing was too much trouble, trying on different boot sizes to ensure the correct fit, explaining how different features would suit our use (or not in some cases) and offered advice based on his experience in Norway. A valuable asset, as he was when we made our 1st outing for items some 8 weeks ago.

Me and my husband went into the Chester…
Me and my husband went into the Chester express store on 26/9/2025 looking for some walking boots & waterproof jackets and socks
Steve C was the assistant that dealt with us
He was very helpful and attentive and knowledgeable on the things we were buying and he showed us all the advantages of what we were buying

Excellent shopping experience
Excellent shopping experience today. I was after a new pair of walking boots as my new corrective innersoles weren't working in my old pair.
We were met by a very friendly member of staff (Steve C) I picked out a couple of pairs that I thought might be ok and Steve helped me to work out which were going to give me the support and fit I need.
He is very knowledgeable and clearly takes a great deal of pride in his job and excellent customer service, we were very impressed.

Steve C helped me to find the right pair of walking boots today. He allowed me the time I needed to make the right decision, reassuring me all the way to make the right decision for me. He spent time understanding technically what I needed and recommending a selection of boots to try. I really am more then happy that I received 12 out of 10 attention and service from a really knowledgable guide, and most of all made the right decision on my walking boots choice. Thanks Steve!
