Harford defrauds its own clients regarding Claims.
They just cover themselves and the expense of their
clients.
Even though I was a victim of a hit and run.
And 5 months later after the date of the accident the so-called criminal who did a hit and run on me and my car and produced a fake witness being her friend, The Hartford even though finding her at fault,
paid out her claim against me. And reported a point against my DMV license regarding the accident.
Throughout this experience, the Hartford never notified me that they paid out. I find out 5 months later after the date of the payout, when they notify me of the to hike up my annual premium. And they tell me they did not hike up my premium because of the accident.
They also have falsified so much information regarding the accident. And had to correct themselves a number of times to cover their liability against me.
I am reporting them to the California State Board of Insurance. This type of insurance fraud, where your own insurance defrauds you needs to stop.
We had insurance with them for 3 years
We had insurance with them for 3 years. No claim!
Out of the blue before renewal we got canceled. They claim that the underwriter considers our pet products high hazard product.
Then today we get an invoice from them that they want to charge in dec!
What kind of scam are they running??
Oh and the best part is I have a new insurance for 2025 with the same underwriter :)
Never ever trust them they are terrible!
Falsehoods and more falsehoods
Early in November 2024 I went online to get a quote for auto insurance, using my current email address. Ultimately over the phone I took out and paid for the policy. During the entire process I received no less than four emails from this company, all to the same email address, all such emails saved.
Today, still having not received the requisite policy paperwork in the mail, I phoned the company. Then ensued being told several things, all categorically false. One, that I had signed up for paperless communications. I'd never done so. Though doubtless someone, or some part of Hartford's system, in a self-initiated, so-called efficiency move did so anyway. Two, I was also told that the policy paperwork previously had be emailed to another email address once registered when I had a prior policy with the company. Likewise untrue. Even though I still retain that email address, only rarely do I use it. Nonetheless, within the last thirty minutes I accessed that email address. I checked both the 'incoming' and 'spam' boxes. No emails from Hartford ever have appeared there. In sum, I don't at all appreciate having been told statements, none of them true. Last, now I have to wait probably another seven to ten days to receive in the mail the policy paperwork, including a proof of insurance card. In the meantime, my auto insurance policy with another company expired on November 15, 2024, the same day the Hartford policy took effect. In sum, the appropriate one star rating for truly lousy, unreliable new customer service.
I signed up for the Hartford…
I signed up for the Hartford approximately 2 weeks ago and now I'm battling my estimate they texted me an estimate of $62 but when the insurance was finalized it was $80 I signed up for $62 on a DocuSign that I have had to fight and prove that I did get the DocuSign done the problem with them instead of sending the screenshot to him they told me that they don't have any phone number or any email address that you can contact them ridiculous stupid...... The only company existing that doesn't have an email address seriously do you think I'm stupid they just won't give it to you. so I had to print out my screenshots and my DocuSign and mail it to them so I'll keep you updated to see if they keep their word and they scam me too!!!! I can't believe how many people have been scammed and ripped off by them this is supposed to be a huge company that advertises 96% referral rate of people who are satisfied if you go to the trust pilot that's just not the case they don't give a crap about people obviously.... I just went over to progressive to insure my car and see what they would give me or charge me $22 a month for my mini Cooper a Hartford can kiss my A--!!!!!.... But then when I see the trust pilot about progressive I don't think I'll use them is there any companies out there that are reliable I left Geico but they were so expensive but though they didn't seem to give me any problems except for raising my rates....
I HAVE USED THEM FOR ALMOST 10 YEARS
I HAVE USED THEM FOR ALMOST 10 YEARS, RATE WENT UP LAST YEAR AND WENT UP THIS YEAR BY ALMOST 3 HUNDRED DOLLARS. NO TICKETS, NO ACCIDENTS ALWAYS PAY YEARLY. MAKES NO SENSE. SWITCHED TO PROGRESSIVE SAME COVERAGE A LOT CHEAPER. ALSO THE HELL WITH AARP IF THEY ARE GOING TO ASSOCIATE WITH CROOKS I DONT NEED THEM.
An absolute joke of an insurance…
An absolute joke of an insurance company....Got a quote through the hartford's AARP program..$600 a month and I have a spotless record.
I wouldn't use this company now if they gave me the insurance.
Total rip off!
HARTFORD SCAM
Checked with them about insurance and was highly disappointed, DO NOT RECOMMEND....they tried charging me triple the amount of what I pay now and I'm 60, with NO accidents, no tickets, nothing against my name accept for being recently divorced from an abusive spouse and having a vehicle that is only 2 year old. Hartford Insurance is a scam, taking advantage of people
The BUCK does not have your back
I have been a customer with the Hartford insurance for years.auto an home an my RV. I just received my renewal for the coming year . Hartford raised my premium over $600.00 for even less coverage.i have sold my RV last year. I called Hartford an spoke with a supervisor to ask why. With my home an RV an good driving record he told me I was getting all the great discounts. I am a 78 year old senior. I only drive around 10.000 miles a year. My car is always in my garage when not being drove. I own my home.my credit rating is over 800 the supervisor told me if I were to drop the accident forgivness claus on my car he could save me around $150.00 on my policy. I ask him how could my premium go up $600.00 he said the Hartford raised there premiums based on a share the cost of there losses all over the country. So I’m being punished because of the hurricanes losses in Florida, and the flooding losses in Texas a california ECT. Even though I live in Michigan in a small farming community. I guess the BUCK does have my back an my Wallet. I told him I would not be renewing my policy.he said good luck with that.all insurance company’s are raising there rates. It’s no wonder so many people are driving around without auto insurance.they can’t afford it.an Hartford is part of the problem
Beware of Hartford. They are endorsed by AARP but scam seniors signed up three years ago and have…
I signed up three years ago and have had no accidents or violations. Renewal came while in the hospital and premium went up 30%. Usually insurance down over the years with good driving record. I called to cancel and asked when my coverage for the month was over. Follow his directions changed to USAA and pay half the premium for double coverage. Got a bill for $92 since they say I owe one more month. I have referred it to Commerce Commissioner as they regulate insurance in MO. Told it will take 6 weeks but Hartford sending bills and now says they will give to collection agency. Terrible company and love to scam seniors
DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THE HARTFORD
I called for a car insurance quote and right off the bat a woman said they do not insure Hyundais. So wondering why she pulled a soft credit report on me? We NEVER EVEN DISCUSSED LIMITS FOR COVERAGES OR ANYTHING. THIS IS RIDICULOUS!! This DOES AFFECT YOUR CREDIT RATING. People will say otherwise but that is a LIE. THE HARTFORD IS A DISHONEST AND DISPICABLE COMPANY. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM!
Short and Bitter Sweet
I've been with The Hartford for many years. I'm a young and active 72 and have been driving for over 50 years. Never been at fault in a couple accidents over those 50 years, until Nov. 2022. At a stop light, waiting to make a right on red, I bumped the car in front of me, who started making his right on red, but stopped. I had diverted my attention to the left for a split second, and I bumped him. My fault. Hartford took care of my car, and everything went smoothly .... until my next renewal 11 months later and no traffic issues. They raised my rate by 45%! Guess I should've been with the company who has "accident forgiveness" instead of accident exploitation.
Joined AARP for nothing.....I signed up with Hartford insurance in…
I signed up with Hartford insurance in July of 2022 for auto coverage. My first renewal notice came and it had an increase of almost 28% in my rate. I have not had any accidents or traffic violations and did not change any coverages. I called and spoke to their representative. His only response was, "Well, rates go up over time." I believe Hartford insurance offers a reasonable rate so you sign up with them and then jacks up your rate significantly upon renewal. Beware of buying insurance from this company.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! THEY RAISE YOUR RATES IN MIDDLE OF POLICY! I’m disabled and prepaid for 6 months of car insurance. I was never a emailed of a rate change. They claim they sent regular mail saying they wanted 24 dollars more. They said a week later they realized it was 31 dollars. I travel internationally and told them I would be gone. They will not email you any adverse change to your account. They hide like children behind cowardly” snail mail” . I now owe the state over 300 in suspended license fees.. THANK HARTFORD
Another Once Trusted Name Gone Bad......
You must wonder how they get away with it.
If ever I saw a bunch of phony '5 star' reviews! Of course (unfortunately) these can be purchased. They even control much of the internet crammed with their own websites of which less than half even work. How could a review board show a total rating of 1.6 stars have 'two' one star ratings followed by (countless) 5 star ratings? Plenty pathetic to put out the doe (from clients premiums) to phony up the ratings to cover their butt's but will they cover 'you'?
I have even had a bad time trying to pay my premium! Not too many business' make (that) difficult. Try to pay from the website they send you for payment; Nope. Try on other websites and get; "Oops We're Sorry- Something Seems to Have Gone Wrong', or 'You can not proceed or back-up or merely a ' ! ',etc.
Been this way since before Covid so (as usual) can't use (that) one like so many failures have. Sad.
lowest score I can give
lowest score I can give. This company takes advantage of the elderly. They told my mother that her car was worth $350. Then they kept raising her rates. Each year it was higher. This year I helped her find another insurer. For half the price.
In my opinion this company scams the elderly and AARP is an enabler.
Worst Car Insurance I have ever had
Worst Car Insurance I have ever had. Premiums were higher than what I had with Geico and I am a senior.
Exemplary service
Was sideswiped by a driver who tried to get ahead of me by passing on the right shoulder. Problem was there was someone already sitting on the shoulder in front of the driver so to avoid hitting him, he turned into me.
In any case my claim through The Hartford has been handled with the utmost professionalism and compassion by Meaghan Sprague in the claims Dept. I can't say enough good things about her.
My car was repaired within a week after handing it over to the repair shop. I am now looking to work with The Hartford to prove culpability on the other driver's part.
I hope The Hartford doesn't hit me with punishing rate hikes but in any case, Meaghan and the claims process has been exemplary.
Also a shout out to Peter Kwan for exemplary service as well.
Great insurance company
Great insurance company. always helpful. They always answer and are very professional
Simply awesome
SARAH BAKER FOR PRESIDENT!!! What a wonderful experience to have someone that was so thoroughly knowledgeable, professional, and at the same time very personable. She had answers to questions that I didn't even know I had. She made the choice, and more importantly, the transition to go from my current provider to the Hartford extremely easy, and smooth. Thank you so very much for saving me a BUNCH of money.

Great Customer Service
Kaitlyn is great to work with. In spite of my schedule and difficult connections she made it work.
