Wish I'd seen these reviews before. Still waiting for a shirt I ordered 22 days ago.

Shockingly poor quality. The item bared very little resemblance to what was advertised. Different colour, different material and as for the fit? OMG! I can only assume they came out of a sweat shop and whoever made them must have been on crack! And then there’s the next challenge of returning items and getting your money back. They’ll be expecting you to get in touch because they know you won’t be happy with what you’ve received. But the chances of you receiving a full refund without being out of pocket is zero (there’s shipping costs and taxes to send the crap back to China). If you’re prepared to persevere you may end up with a 50% refund. But it will take you weeks of negotiation with every acknowledging email from them thanking you for “reaching out”. Just don’t deal with these people in the first place, it’s clearly some kind of scam set up.

I only gave one star as there's no option for zero. Item took 2 weeks to arrive from China, is nothing like the photo (different fabric, poor quality) and when I complained I was offered a 25% refund or a possible full refund if I return it to China at my own expense! I said I want a full refund with no cost return and haven't heard anything since unsurprisingly.

To update the above, I emailed them as requested and received this reply on 05.09.26:
'....To make this completely right for you, we are more than happy to issue a 100% full refund back to your original payment method.

Our only request is for you to kindly update your survey rating (or remove the review) to reflect this resolution, then send us a quick screenshot in your reply. As soon as we receive your confirmation, I will process your full refund right away.

Please don't worry—you remain in full control of your ratings and reviews at all times, and you can switch them back if we fail to honor our promise.'
I replied that I'll update my review when I receive the refund so watch this space...

Absolute con, waited for 10 days for delivery and the product was utter rubbish, do not be fooled. Office is in Holland and pretty sure they originate from China. Save your money, I'm throwing them straight into the bin, not good enough to send to a charity shop, it would be an insult.

Fantastic customer service! I needed to return an item as it wasn’t suitable. The experience I received from Victoria on the customer care team was faultless.

Minimal delay in responding to my e-mail and regular updates on what was going on. I couldn’t have asked for more. Thankyou. I would recommend Hartley and York and will look to use them again in the future.

Poor quality merchandise, sent wrong size as well. Refuse to give a full refund, offered 10% voucher and a further voucher for 20% on next purchase. Certainly not using again so reported to Bank as scammers.

I do not think my review was allowed so all I will now say is that I agree with all the posts here that gave one star. Avoid.

Very Much Presented as a UK / European brand (their products are sent direct from China) as in my case, items can be substituted, what arrived was cheap rubbish; different in both colour and design. Customer Service is AI generated and wholly frustrating. Returns to China at purchasers expense, not explained on their website. After four emails to them, they ONLY responded after seeing I had left them a poor review on Trustpilot, offering a full refund if I will update my review to reflect this.Very poor practices indeed.

All the reviews here are true. The company operates like this, poor quality goods and my in my case wrong size. Say wrong size is not grounds for them paying for return postage. Fight back! Challenge the company through your bank and credit card company. If enough people complain then an investigation will be triggered and if found true credit cards will boycott them! Dont put up with this!

HOW THIS SCAM WORKS. Dissatisfied with substandard poor-quality item which does not resemble the advertised product shown in a particular photo. You email the company requesting a refund, for which you will receive a response starting with "Thank you for reaching out, and I'm truly sorry to hear that the...." and will be given 2 option. Option 1 is return goods at your expense & it is expensive and when you do, the company will deny the goods have been received by them and no refund is given. Option 2 is basically a measly 15% discount and told to keep the product.
The company’s modus operandi is that once you receive the substandard poor-quality item(s) and contact them for a refund is to keep you in a perpetual loop of “sympathetic responses” giving various deflective excuses until you eventually give up trying for a refund. This hustle is taken from the Arthur Daley book for schemers. UPDATED after the latest email offer, now they want to give us 100% credit note to buy another item from them, why would i want anything else they have to offer??? YET still no sign of a return item address for the original refund, having asked them 3 times now

This company are scammers, they sell products that aren’t as advertised. Reviews on their website are forged, do NOT buy from them whatsoever. I will be requesting a full refund

Hi.if you see something you like in this site(hartley&york ) becareful they are chinese scammers.they will take your money and send you something completley different

Was originally given the wrong size, although the shorts look great quality. I have requested a refund but am currently in negotiations with the team.

I am extremely disappointed with my purchase from Hartley & York. The items I received look nothing like the photos displayed on their website—the material is cheap, poorly finished, and completely lacking proper care or material labeling.
When I reached out to customer service to request a return and refund, they refused to resolve the issue properly. Selling products that fail to match their advertising and then denying customer refunds is completely unacceptable. Save your money and shop elsewhere.
Items are poor quality China made shirts - avoid at all costs
We have now raised an issue via our credit card provided
Following over 10 emails back and forth and the starting of a credit card claim, they were able to give me a full refund for the two shirts. It took so much time and insistence on my part with them adding a little bit more percentage to the refund each time - we finally got there but they were very keen for me to ensure I cancelled the credit card claim back which I did once the refund had been processed. All very suspicious and poor service all round.

Dreadful quality at a premium price. I reckon these probably cost £2-3 to manufacture in China and are selling at a whopping cost. That are thin and badly made. Worse is that they ship direct from China so are expensive to return and they only refund once they receive and only give you 30 days to get back to you

The website is full of bogus reviews that do not exist on trust pilot. Trust pilot should sure them for misrepresentation...as should consumers.

I ordered an outfit online. What arrived was laughable, the cheapest material nothing like the photo and a split seam in the shorts and the shirt. All tags cut out. This is honestly the worst online order I’ve made, it’s so bad I’m actually laughing as I type this!

Scam don't buy. The item that arrived barely looks like the one ordered and was low quality. It was about 5 sizes too small and I'm an S!
