Don't book this tour operator – pure harassment and overpriced traps
The round-trip journey takes 6 long hours in a cramped minibus with 12 people. With temperatures hitting 40°C and the air conditioning barely working, it was pretty miserable. While the Ouzoud Waterfalls themselves are absolutely beautiful, the people running the tour completely ruined the experience. To make matters worse, our bus driver was staring very inappropriately and giving creepy looks toward white women.
When you walk back up through the shops after seeing the waterfall, the guide (Mohammed) basically forces to skip shops and to eat at a restaurant called Chez Mounier (the owner has bright green eyes). The guide clearly gets a commission for bringing people there. He speaks multiple languages to seem friendly at first, but his attitude changes the second you ask questions.
When we asked to see the menu, he immediately got defensive and aggressive. We noticed he was much milder toward people with white skin, showing a bizarre double standard. Normally, you pay around 130 MAD for a meal with a great view of the waterfall. Chez Mounier charges that same 130 MAD for a terrible spot with no view at all. After dealing with his aggressive behavior and being served rock-hard bread, we just stood up and walked out.
If you check the 1- and 2-star reviews for the "Ouzoud Waterfalls Tour from Marrakech" on GetYourGuide.com, you will see that many other travelers have gone through the exact same thing. De owner just replies with the same auto-message 'we will do better', but this is not acceptable.
Go to Dar Essalam instead!
Just 2 or 3 next it, we found a total breath of fresh air. At Dar Essalam, the staff is genuinely friendly and welcoming. The menu is clear, and the prices are much cheaper (around 80 MAD). We got delicious fresh bread with olives, mint tea, fries with marinated skewers, a salad, and fresh sliced oranges.
My advice: Save yourself the headache. Avoid the bus driver, the guide Mohammed, and the aggressive owner of Chez Mounier. DO NOT BOOK WITH THIS TOUR OPERATOR!
