Unethical Billing and Terrible Customer Support – Avoid HostClaw
I used HostClaw for a few months without issue, but decided to switch providers because we needed different capabilities. I submitted a cancellation request, which they appeared to receive—yet I never got a follow-up or confirmation. Despite the cancellation and the fact that we had already migrated to a new host, they charged me again the following month.
When I reached out to get it resolved, I was told that my account had “no record of an affiliate” and that the cancellation wasn’t valid. They offered no notice before billing and refused to refund the charge. When I informed them I’d dispute the charge, they threatened me with a $150 dispute fee and still didn’t cancel the account.
To make matters worse, you cannot remove your credit card information from their system, which is a serious red flag. I’ve had to dispute the charge with Amex, report them to Stripe, and place a merchant block.
Between the unethical billing practices, poor communication, and retaliatory threats, I strongly recommend avoiding HostClaw. There are far better and more honest hosting providers out there.
