Firstly, would I use this firm again or recommend them? No.

Jeakins were the cheapest quote out of 6 that I received. My first choice unfortunately had already been booked for the week of my move so I reverted to Jeakins who were able to fit me in very quickly (maybe that was a warning sign?).

I originally received the email quote in Jan 26 (actually moved in May 26) with no further action until I requested their services a week before we were going to move. I appreciated them fitting me in at short notice but that did come at a cost later as everything was done speedily with a disregard to process - in particular form completion, T&C’s being referenced, and small print on insurance.

Once I had confirmed the moving date I was immediately sent the invoice without any reference to the original quote (which included acceptance paperwork that should have been signed and returned), and asked to pay in full the day of removal. I didn’t worry too much about payment as this is normal apparently.

The packing staff and removal staff were really great and had good banter. Unfortunately, quite a few items in one box arrived smashed so, somewhere along the line either packing or removal failed. Upon notification to Jeakins of the broken items I was offered an amount that was just under 35% of the replacement value or, I could claim through their insurance for the full amount. I chose the latter as I wanted the replacement value back and, after so called investigation, I was offered a standard clause amount that was just 14% of the replacement value. I declined the final offer as it was insulting.

The issue was within the small print of the original quote (which I hadn’t been asked to sign before the removers began). I hadn’t declared a value of the items being removed. This was also the same for their insurance. For me this feels like mis-selling. The reason I say this is because I also had items that Jeakins stored for us. After the had put the items in storage they asked me to sign a form and brought to my attention the Declared Value of the items for insurance purposes (I reiterate this was after they had been collected and put in storage). I immediately completed this form with a declared value. However, unlike the stored goods, Jeakins never asked for the original acceptance forms to be completed nor did they bring my attention to the declared value of these which is the
most important part of the removal. As you can imagine I was in the middle of my very first move so it wasn’t too of my priority list.

As a consequence I was only offered the minimal standard claim amount. In hindsight, perhaps if I’d chosen a firm that charged a little bit more then maybe I would have been correctly insured, followed process and had correct paperwork.

Beware of small print, insurance and Declared Value.

I cannot recommend Jeakins enough. From the quote to the move itself, members of the team were friendly, efficient and made our move as smooth as possible. Not only was the price competitive and the best around, but the guys on the day were so helpful. They tried their best with keeping furniture together manoeuvring around a difficult L bend, but if they couldn’t do this, they took the furniture apart and back together at the other side. Any time they needed to do this, they would always check with us beforehand, always keeping us in the loop.
On top of this, they are collecting our empty boxes now that we have unpacked.

Our move on 15 July was an extremely stressful and disappointing experience.
The buyers of our property had also used this removal company. When their team arrived, neither the sale of our property nor our purchase of our new property had completed. We had been specifically advised by our solicitor that they could not enter the property before completion.

Despite explaining this, the team repeatedly pressured us to allow them in and to start unloading. One driver even said that if we weren't there, they would have entered the property illegally, and then described an occasion where they had allegedly climbed through an open window to unlock a door before completion. Another comment was that they wanted to finish quickly so they could get home to watch the England match.
The situation became even more unacceptable when Scott drove the removal van onto our driveway and damaged the bush, and members of the team subsequently shouted at us.

After the move, we discovered that several of our items had been damaged. They had been placed by the removal team at the back of a spare bedroom behind our other belongings, so the damage was not immediately visible.
We reported the damage on 22 July and provided photographic evidence clearly showing the damage. Despite repeatedly being promised updates, we were left chasing the company for a response.

The insurer subsequently declined our claim after being told by the removal company that the items were undamaged on delivery and that we had later moved them ourselves.
I completely dispute this account. This is not what happened.

What makes this even more frustrating is that not all of the information and evidence I provided was apparently forwarded to the insurer, including the photographs I had supplied showing the damage. I find this particularly disappointing because those photographs were important evidence in support of my claim.

I could have understood accidental damage. Accidents can happen during a removal. What I cannot accept is the lack of communication, the way my complaint was handled, and the account of events provided to the insurer, which I strongly dispute.

A professional company should take responsibility when something goes wrong, provide all relevant information when dealing with a claim, and communicate properly with its customers. Unfortunately, that was not our experience.

This experience has completely destroyed my confidence in this company. I would not use them again.

Moving house is stressful enough without having to deal with this afterwards. If you are considering using this company, think very carefully before entrusting them with your home and belongings.

From the arrival of a 4 man team led by Gavin it was perfection all the way. We experienced a day of efficiency and professionalism that made the “Moving Day” an easier experience. The team of 4 gave us so much pleasure with their fun and humour which with the 5 of us was brilliant. Lunch together was the highlight of the day, thanks to Greggs. Thank you gents for a wonderful day.

Absolutely fantastic all around. Communications from Michelle were seamless. Mick and Jordan did an unbelievable job moving all of our furniture and belongings with care and made it look like a breeze, even on the hottest June day ever recorded! Thank you all enormously! I’ve moved numerous times in various areas of the country, but these guys are by far the best. Would highly recommend!!

EXCELLENT removal company. Starting of from the house survey, the day of removal to our new destination some 320 miles round trip, a true professional team. Special thankyou to Harry,Wayne & Stan who went that extra mile in assisting all our needs. Anyone who is looking for a truly professional set up from start to finish, I would fully recommend, Jeakins Removal Company.

We eventually moved in mid April, it had taken a long while to dot the i's & cross the t's. Michelle and her team were outstanding throughout the whole process.
Steve and Derek came to pack up our home a couple of days before we moved and did an outstanding job.
Everyting was packed with great care and no breakages from any of it.

worked so hard the day before
packing the lorry and then on the moving day. They were totally on the ball with everything, considerate to both buyer and seller ( our seller didn't finish packing and leaving the property till 6.30). They worked around the chaos and made our move into our new property as seamless as possible. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the guys.

From the initial face to face quote to end of moving day, Jeakins Removals were very pleasant and extremely professional.

The quote was fair and competitive and all our needs were heard and taken on board. The service provided from the back room/office staff has been great.

Regarding the removal team. We cannot fault them one bit. They introduced themselves, had a good look round and a debrief on what is to be expected and they worked hard all morning and into the early parts of the afternoon. They were extremely friendly, professional and approachable.

They would keep checking with us that things were okay where they were placing them and kept us informed at various stages.

We would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone or use them again ourselves.

Moved from Essex to Stafford with Jeakins 30th March 2026. Jeakins were brilliant and I would highly recommend. There cost was very reasonable compared with other similar well respected removal companies. The guys who moved us, Gavin, Harry and Stan were amazing. Friendly, helpful, hard working and very professional.

I recently used Jeakins to move our kitchen and home contents into store. We had an initial quote from Michelle and the price was competitive so we opted to use Jeakins due to their knowledge and years of experience Dave , Steve and Carl were polite professional and took great care of the kitchen. I would recommend this company as professional from start to finish.

Where do I start. We used Jeakins nearly a year ago and I’ve only just got round to writing this review. They were very good to contact at the start and were very willing, but on the day things got sour. The lads were working hard to pack the truck up and taking regular breaks (in which I expected them to because it is hard work), one lad was dragging his heels a bit and one of the lads (owners son) tried to get him back to work, this then lead to a heated argument for the whole street to hear and making my mother in law and wife uncomfortable and threatened by what was going on (my mother in law was also moving soon and got Jeakins round for a quote and they actually phoned her this day to see if she wanted to go through with it but of course this put her off) this also lead for me to get involved to get this lad removed from my property and then he carried on telling my wife what he could do to me…Jeakins office sent someone else out to take his place and send the lad home who the carried on opening his mouth outside my house to tell the owners son that he shouldn’t even be working for cash as he is off claiming benefits, but when I later spoke to Jeakins this was neither confirmed or denied. Everything was all packed away and we was off to the new house with a staff shuffle around so there was no more conflicts between the lads. We then found that we had quite a few items damaged in which the owners son admitted he sat on when having a break in the truck (He is a big lad) but it did take us to raise this for him to admit he had done it. Obviously we know accidents can happen. Once we were unpacked and done the wife said to me that the owners son kept making comments at her and her mum and being sarcastic in which they were glad when he was gone. I then had to go through to Jeakins with the damages and well, this ended up getting batted straight to the insurance company that they use in which I can only describe them as a budget insurance company, and they tried to wiggle out of every item with their “claims adjuster”. One item that was damaged was our sons cot, obviously we had to supply everything with a proof of purchase in which we was able to hand over for everything, but the cot I did try to get hold of mamas & papas to source parts and the costs but even the manufacturer advised that due to health and safety we could not have them and the only resort would be a whole new cot but the insurance would not have this and would only give us money for a second hand one but they just could not get through that even due to health and safety this is also not advised and they couldn’t even get the value of the same item as second hand. Long story short but we got paid out some money but we were still very out of pocket. To say the least we will not use Jeakins again and my advice is to be very weary.

On the website it states they are with the FHIO but when you go on the FHIO website they are not even listed.

Great removal team. They arrived on time were professional and courteous. They protected the floors, moved furniture with care and attention. All the team were friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. We moved over two days and they let us know on the 2nd day that they were on route and let us know again when they had arrived. We highly recommend Jeakins, great service - thank you to Harry, Dave, Wayne, Steve, Jordan and a young guy who I unfortunately can’t remember his name, they all worked extremely hard.

They arrived on time. Very courteous and polite. Handled all my furniture and possessions carefully. Smooth from start to finish. Very established removal company. My nan used them in 1984, my parents used them in 1999 and I used them last month. Very good price too. Office girls were great too when booking the removal date. Before the removal date boxes, tissue paper and bubble wrap supplied. Highly recommended.

Smooth move from start to finish. Excellent communication all round. Michelle and Vikki covering any enquiries. Then there was Fred, Jake and Chris loading and unloading with good humour, even in the pouring rain at our destination. Highly recommend Jeakins Removals. Would not hesitate in using again.

Jeakins did a great job helping us move, the team were really professional and careful moving our furniture and boxes and put everything where we wanted them the other end. They made us laugh and made the process less stressful.
