LYMINGTON TOWN SAILING CLUB
I attended an Rya course at Lymington Town Sailing Club. I didn't know that food was available out of season, as there aren't many people around, so I brought my own sandwich. They gave us an hour for lunch and they told us that we could've sat upstairs in the main hall and so I did. I didn't even get to my first bite, that a tall young fellow, wearing thick black glasses, shouted quite loudly that they didn't allow the consumption of food purchased elsewhere. He wasn't friendly, he shouted aggressively like a policeman. He was so loud that several people turned around and looked at me, making it a very embarrassing and awkward moment. So I had to go eat my sandwich outside in the freezing cold. I felt discriminated and let's face it, it's never nice to be asked to leave, especially when I paid money to be there. This guy could've told me quietly, but instead he chose to shout loudly so that everyone court hear. And let's face it, how many people go there to have a sandwich?!? They shouldn't even mention it, this shouldn't even be a thing, it's rude, unwelcoming and it accomplishes absolutely nothing, other than getting them negative reviews. They embarrassed me in an attempt to force me to buy their food. I'm still not going to buy their food... I have my own sandwich! This is disgraceful! And if they think that after being asked to leave there will be a second time, they're out of their minds! What in the world is going on in their heads... seriously?!?
I was considering to take up a membership here and I was looking forward to this day to have a look around. After this episode I don't feel welcome to this ran down building, which by the way smells funny and obviously I won't be taking any membership here. Furthermore, I have quite a few friends locally and they'll ask be hearing about this. Good job!
Ps: In the morning I was invited to have a free coffee as part of the course. There's a sign on the machine advising that decaf coffee is available upon request. The two people who were running the place, told me that they had no clue about decaf coffee, so since I'm allergic to caffeine, I couldn't have my drink.
