Mercedes-Benz Chesterfield – Premium Prices, Second-Rate Customer Service
Absolutely appalling customer service from a dealership that trades on the reputation of a premium brand.
Firstly, nobody bothered to let me know that my car was ready, costing me an entirely unnecessary extra day in transport. Apparently, a simple phone call or message was too much to ask.
Secondly, I had specifically requested a valuation of my vehicle, yet this was forgotten too. I was then left waiting while they eventually got around to doing something that should have been dealt with in the first place.
And then came the valuation itself.
I was offered £24,000 for a vehicle with comparable retail prices around £30,000. With £29,500 still outstanding on my Mercedes finance agreement, that would leave me having to find approximately £5,500 just to get out of my existing finance.
I fully understand that a dealership needs to make money. However, there is a considerable difference between running a profitable business and leaving a customer feeling that they are being taken for a ride.
The difference between the valuation offered and the retail prices I was seeing was around £6,000. I appreciate that retail value is not the same as trade-in value or dealership profit, but the offer certainly did nothing to inspire confidence or make me feel valued as a customer.
The irony is that this is Mercedes-Benz, a brand associated with quality, prestige and premium service. Unfortunately, none of that was reflected in my experience at Chesterfield.
Poor communication, forgotten requests, wasted time and a valuation that left me seriously questioning the deal. All in all, a thoroughly frustrating experience from start to finish.
If this is the standard of service customers can expect from Mercedes-Benz Chesterfield, perhaps the premium badge is the only premium thing about the experience.
I went in expecting professionalism and customer care. I came away feeling frustrated, undervalued and thoroughly unimpressed.
Mercedes-Benz Chesterfield, you need to take a long, hard look at how you treat your customers. I certainly expected better, and based on this experience, I would think twice before returning.
