Title: Outstanding Service from Start to Finish

After searching for a specific A200 model, we found the perfect one at Mercedes-Benz South West – Exeter. From the first phone call, Mo was friendly, approachable, and helpful. He let us know the car had just arrived and hadn’t yet been fully prepared, but within 15 minutes he sent over a video and followed up with a call – impressive, which was great for us as we were two hours away in Wiltshire.

On the strength of the video and the car’s full Mercedes-Benz service history, we placed a holding deposit. A couple of days later, Mo’s colleague Phil sent us a second video, showing the car after its full preparation and with some cosmetic work completed. Phil also followed up with a call, and like Mo, was equally friendly and professional.

When we arrived at the dealership, we were welcomed by Phil Cole, who took time to go through our part exchange and then gave us a relaxed and thorough handover of the new car, which had been beautifully presented.

From our first enquiry to driving the car away, the whole experience was smooth, professional, and genuinely enjoyable. It was an absolute pleasure dealing with both Mo and Phil.

This was a really good experience for me buying my first Mercedes Mercedes-Benz. I couldn’t wanted anymore from the dealership and they continue to send me taxes to make sure I’m happy with everything. So happy with the service would buy from them again.

Mo and Phil were very helpful and this was out 2nd purchase. I had some concerns going to full EV and at one point was thinking about pulling out of the deal, Mo was very considerate and was happy to deal with our concerns and support us either way, including not going ahead with the deal.... we did in the end.

Just need to sort out the Service Plan now.

Assisted us with an after market RAC warranty claim. Communication from Mercedes was not great, and we had to make a contribution due to your high labour costs and oil/parts not included by the warranty. On collecting the car, having been a Mercedes owner for many years, found that they no longer wash/valet your car following repair works.

Car was purchased through Tangelo (part of this group).

It has made us realise that maybe a Mercedes is no longer a viable option for us.

Mo & Stephen were very friendly, knowledgeable and provided excellent service during the recent purchase of a vehicle. Nothing was too much trouble even though we had a couple of small after sales issues. They were dealt with efficiently and promptly. We found the handover experience very professional and enjoyable, with Stephen taking time to explain everything and programming the car to our requirements. even though it was a used car, they treated us as if it was a new one. Overall it was an extremely pleasant experience. Thank you Mo & Stephen

Avoid Mercedes-Benz Approved Used – Poor Experience, Lack of Accountability

I purchased an Approved Used vehicle from Mercedes-Benz, expecting a hassle-free, premium experience. Instead, I encountered a string of faults just weeks after purchase. A local Mercedes-Benz dealership diagnosed multiple issues, only to inform me that they were not covered under warranty.

When I contacted the selling branch (Taunton), they refused to allow the local branch to carry out repairs and insisted the vehicle be returned to them. I complied, making the trip at personal cost—but I made sure to get written confirmation that I’d be reimbursed for my travel expenses.

After more than a week, I was told the vehicle was ready. Only one glow plug had initially failed, but they replaced all four. However, another fault—related to the auxiliary air intake—was simply cleared from the system, and I was told they’d only investigate further if it returned.

By this point, I had lost all confidence in the vehicle. I formally rejected it under my consumer rights. The sales manager initially refused, flatly denying my statutory right to reject the vehicle—a statement I thankfully have in writing.

Only after escalating the matter did a Development Manager (Ian) agree to proceed with the rejection, requesting the V5, spare keys, and other documents. I returned the courtesy vehicle and emptied the purchased vehicle, but to my surprise, the V5—which I had already told Ian where to find—had gone missing. This delayed my refund for two full months and charged for defective plastic wheel trims which I couldn't prove had to have occurred while in their possession.

Despite involving Mercedes-Benz Head Office, they were unhelpful throughout. It’s appalling that such a reputable brand can operate with such disorganization and disregard for basic customer rights. From missing documents to delayed refunds, miscommunication, and poor repair handling, this was worse than dealing with a backstreet garage.

My advice: DO NOT buy a used Approved vehicle from Mercedes-Benz. The prestige is a façade—your experience may end up as stressful and disappointing as mine.

I have used 3 other MB dealers in the past but this is the first time I have dealt with Exeter. I dealt with Phil and Mo during the purchase of my new car. They are outstanding, first class service from the initial contact to the conclusion of the sale. All dealerships are definitely not the same! All will have a quality motor to offer but the sales team at Exeter are second to none and the level of the customer experience will make you want to deal with them again. I made a near 1000mile round trip to make the deal and I would happily do it again when the time comes for another change. 5* Service.

Mike Castle, Service Team Manager (Exeter) very helpful, phoned me during the morning with progress report on service being carried out. When car was ready he explained clearly everything I needed to know about the service and MOT and answered my questions. I also spoke to Josh Roberts, Sales Consultant, about the possibility of changing my car in the future and he was very helpful and informative. An excellent service from both departments.

The best service we have received, especially Alice who understood our needs and kept us informed along the way and was very helpful in getting another service agent to explain the MBUX system
