I purchased a card on 3/3/26 and loaded…
I purchased a card on 3/3/26 and loaded it with $200, thinking it functioned like a gift card. I then found out that the card requires multiple layers of identification, including social security number, which I was not comfortable with providing. I contacted NetSpend and they cancelled the card, telling me that if I submit a copy of my ID, the card, receipt of payment, and a copy of my electricity bill they would send a check to me within 10 business days to refund the $200. I provided all of the information. A month and a half later, no check. I have called and emailed no less than a dozen times, and the last 3 times I've been "placed on hold" and then hung up on, while being "transferred to a supervisor". The company is operating fraudulently, I do not recommend using their services.
Update: What is the "information requested"? That is a generic and useless response. I cannot get customer services to even look at my request for information, not by email, and not by phone, following dozens of attempts over the past month. When asked to elevate to a supervisor I'm put on hold and hung up on. I either need a direct contact to someone who will actually make an attempt to resolve this, or someone needs to contact me.

First this company does NOT protect you as a consumer at all!!! Then when you place a dispute the amount of games being played is absolutely ridiculous. They tell you someone from the claims department will call you and they never do. The information from the investigation that they perform doesn't show sufficient error on your part and the things you provided them with does. And it's a vicious never ending cycle. So you never end up getting your hard earned money back. And with how things are going in the world today you need every penny you actually have. It's such a shame. How could you!?!

I don't recommend this card to anyone. You can't all to a real live person until u have fought though the ai press this press that. Just for them to hang up and say try again. Please just go to a bank. Had a purchase at HOME DEPOT. ACTIVACTED THE CARD TWO DAYS PRIOR. Now I have to stay on the phone 98 min in order to speak to a human being . Close the company it's trash!!!! You can't even use there so called app. I'm literally broke until I get a hold of someone almost 2hrs from now. I'm beyond disappointed & disguised!!!

Went to 7/11 and added 500 dollars on a pre paid net spend card to pay my light bill that was on Feb 22nd went home to active the card and got an error message card not able to be activated. Called customer service the same day and was told by the first rep that they were unable to transfer funds to my brinks account which is associated with NetSpend asked if I could also get another NetSpend card and get funds transferred and was told no to both options.
I have been calling almost every day since then trying to get my money. Was advised that there was a check being issued out first go around they said that the address was incorrect and they would have to resend another check out. Today is now March 20th and I still haven't received a check. Almost a month later and my 500 that I was supposed to put on my light bill still haven't been able to pay my bill. Keep getting told different days of when my check was sent out none of the reps are able to verify or confirm my address without me having to tell them. And the first go around they had my address completely wrong. I just want my money back so that I can pay my bill then I will never use NetSpend again. As I am typing this I am on hold for now 20 minutes still trying to get this issue resolved.

I wouldn’t never trust Netspend. Customer service is awful. Supervisor doesn’t know how to handle customer. If someone takes your money out account. It takes over 10 days . I got hack in my account twice and they close my account with high risk. January went smoothly. February I got paid and that same day I got hack. You think they fix problems they didn’t. March 20. I got my money back for February and I got paid then turn around got hack again. Took all the money 4,000.00. You would think that they solve problems in February. They didn’t. Didn’t do anything. They let happen. Now I am out food. No money. They close my account and telling me I am high risk. So, I am telling you don’t get Netspend. Overdraft fees it way up and beyond. So, disappointing with everything. I will never trust company again. Anyone put money on Netspend. God bless you. They are these worst.

Someone used my card in California while I was in Texas and I canceled my card immediately and reported it! They reviewed it and STILL said they saw nothing wrong with the charges ! The cards are not secure at all and customer service is TERRIBLE the mfs speak Broken English it’s impossible to understand wtf they saying!!!!

However, I have observed an alarming pattern of suspicious behavior regarding my account that has left me feeling completely vulnerable and abandoned by your company.
Despite my diligent efforts to report these issues to Consumer Affairs and other relevant authorities, I have received little to no assistance. The situation has escalated far beyond my initial concerns, as I have come to realize that my account has likely been subject to synthetic takeover, resulting in significant financial losses, egregious fees, and duplicate transactions. I have repeatedly raised these issues over the past year, yet the response from your organization has been woefully inadequate.
What began as the removal of basic features from my account has transformed into a malicious situation that has left me without recourse. I now understand that opting for an online bank, devoid of physical locations for support, was a grave mistake. I have filled out multiple statements regarding identity theft and device takeovers, including a comprehensive report to the IC3 and a formal complaint with the Attorney General of New York. It is unacceptable that I have had to resort to such measures, especially when NetSpend has a documented history of morally questionable practices that disadvantage its customers.
It is imperative that NetSpend enhances its support systems for victims of fraud and account takeovers. Your company bears a responsibility to provide resources for individuals like myself, who are grappling with the consequences of fraudulent activity. I have had the misfortune of being contacted by someone who claims to represent your corporate office; however, I am now convinced that this individual may be part of the fraudulent scheme that has infiltrated my account. The alarming changes to my username credentials—once sensitive to upper and lowercase letters—are indicative of a significant security breach.
Each time I attempt to reach out to your compliance team, I find myself met with busy signals, extended hold times, or complete silence. This negligence is unacceptable. Thousands of dollars have been siphoned from my account, leaving me and my children in a precarious situation. I will not be silenced or dismissed. I am committed to using my voice to advocate for myself and to shine a light on the fraudulent activities that are persisting unchecked.
I urge you to take immediate action to rectify this situation. I expect a prompt and thorough investigation into my account, as well as a comprehensive response outlining what steps will be taken to address these egregious issues. Your customers deserve better than this neglect and indifference.

On line stuff does not work. Was trying for over an hour to transfer funds, I used OnePay and theirs worked, NetSpend is a site from the blazes,it even told me that my bank debit card expired date wasn't correct. It a friggin nightmare. DO NOT USE THESE RASCALS,VERY SLIPPERY WHEN DRY.

I have been waiting for over 45 days to get stolen money back
I have been waiting for over 45 days to be paid back money that was hacked off my account with NetSpend. I was told that was how long it would take. When I call them after the 45 days they tell me it will be May 1st 2026 before I can receive any money I'm done it didn't take that long for somebody to hack my NetSpend account. The NetSpend operator got angry and didn't tell me if I filed a written complaint about the money being hacked then I could have still been spinning the money of $137 while they did their investigation. I just want my money and I'll leave NetSpend alone because that's what they want me to do.

I bought a Visa card and they are still holding my money. Many emails back and forth... one person tells me the card is active so I try it and still nothing. They have had my money tied up for over 2 weeks and they don't seem to be helpful. You can not talk to anyone to work through the problem. They tell me I can only resolve the problem myself online. This company is PATHETIC!!!

I cannot tell you how many times I sent documentation to be verified so I could use my card unrestricted. Still there's issues.
They charge $2 tax on everything when you buy something or use your card.
Then they won't mail me my card because I live in a nursing home and according to them, it's too public and not a secure location to send cards.
Then I was on the phone the other day with them and they told me that my card is Frozen until I can verify my identity. Give me my $70 back.
