After months of detailed design work on a custom slide-on camper, the company agreed to the specifications and accepted my deposit.
What was built was significantly different from what was agreed in writing.
Issues included:
Water tanks installed in incorrect locations
Frame mountings made from steel instead of aluminium as specified
24-volt lifting legs installed instead of 12-volt, changing the electrical design
Resulting in an impractical mix of 12V, 24V and 240V
systems
Multiple other changes made without consultation or approval
After more than six months of repeated requests, the company finally advised the finished unit weighed over 3000kg, despite the original agreed limit being under 2000kg. This made the camper unsuitable for its intended use.
Throughout the project, the staff I was dealing with changed several times. I later learned those staff had left the company, and management blamed former employees for the problems rather than taking responsibility.
Communication has now completely stopped. As the company is based in China, I have no practical way to recover my deposit.
Based on my experience, I would strongly advise others to exercise extreme caution when considering a custom build with this company.
