Horrible customer service

Horrible customer service, ignorant and uneducated administrative staff, threatening to seniors, absolutely no manners, don’t know how to communicate with senior citizens as admin staff is two decades younger… no professionalism at all.. why is there a security officer in the waiting area? Oak street made promises to seniors about services offered, i.e, walk ins was a service offered, wait time to see nurse practitioner would not be over 10 minutes-false., a doctor was NEVER on staff… I will return to my former DOCTOR.. I don’t feel as though a nurse practitioner is for me.. I was never given tests for seniors such as bone density or stress.. just blood pressure, taking blood for labs, take my weight and talk.. where is the examination in that? TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE!!

First thing that should be done is get rid of that Dr. Mushone (or whatever his name is) advertisement that the man in the chair says he grabbed his chair and so on and so on and on. It seems to run about every half a minute. Over and over again. I don't have a stopwatch to time it, so it probably isn't quite that often, but it is really over used and annoying. Because of this I will never have a first visit with Oakstreethealth. Get a new advertisement and don't run it into the ground.

Incompetent

NP concluded that my 80 yr old mother with a heart condition and an insane cough with shortness of breath was experiencing allergies. A week later I brought her to urgent care. They did an X-ray and found a spot on her lung. Pneumonia! I'm kicking myself that I didn't ask the NP to do an X-ray. Stupid me for trusting her. Mom sounds horrible!

I was happy in the beginning with oak street, but as Dr's and nurses were different Everytime, not what I want, too many coming and going. I've been there for a lease 3 to 4 yrs? no problems, so I call my meds in and to make an appt, couldn't figure out what Dr. I see, then I called back about meds and appt. was told no we won't write those go to pain Dr. it's Suboxone not a "pain pill" . that's it, did anyone read my file, haven't seen a Dr. since Karen Powers left, tried to make an appt but they were worried about calling in my meds , really. I'm 66yrs old I've been thru the pain management that is why I'm good with what I take, yes I have good and bad days when my quality of life is in question then I will speak with my surgeon Dr. Kakarla at barrows who did my neck fusion a yr ago 23rd of this month and is my scoilosis Dr., 3back surgeries&fusion at L5S1(2003-2007), right broken hip 2016, covid19 2021,removed the upper rite lobe of my lung.
I have done pt, shots, burned nerves n my r-leg, I'm done with pain management. For oak street to do this to me is crazy. I guess that's what they do, I don't agree, but that doesn't matter.
you ask when this occured Monday May 11th on the phone.

I just became a new patient in Raleigh NC and had a great experience. I will be switching to CenterWell Primary Care although I haven’t read the reviews yet. The reason is because I was told after the pharmacy sent a refill request to them that it takes 72 hours to respond! That’s too long! CenterWell is same day which is what I’m used to. Also after leaving my previous primary care place bc they closed, the only way to forward my and husband’s records is through fax. I was told that when our records were sent there was a backlog. I hope I don’t have a problem getting them from them.

They are the worst primary care in…

They are the worst primary care in Warwick,RI they put chronic disease on your chart to make more money with your insurance and they don’t listen, care about patients at all now. They won’t hire any new doctors there at all now. All they do is give you medicines all the time now. If you have them please leave for a real doctor right now!

No personalized care--and they don't care

The following is my experience with Oak Street Health, which promises to be “personalized primary care” for people on Medicare. The Kalamazoo Office offered me no personalization and certainly no primary care.
My initial appointment, with Dr. Mark Brown, went well; however, I soon discovered that there was no way for me to call their office, no MyChart to send messages, no way to reach Dr. Brown. As you know, patients call a nationwide number and speak to someone who will take care of prescription refills and setting up appointments. They will not connect patients to the office. I know I was talking to a woman in Arizona on one call. I became suspicious that this would not be personalized care, but I decided to give it a shot. I saw Dr. Brown again, and all he seemed to be concerned about was changing my prescriptions.
I got a call from the system several months later and was told I needed an EKG. I scheduled the appointment, but when the date rolled around, I had the flu and rescheduled (through the national number). The day before my appointment, we had a big snowstorm, and I couldn’t get out of my street since it had not been plowed. I canceled again and set up a third appointment. It was for 3 p.m. I got a call that morning asking if I could come in earlier, but I could not. The person I talked with said to be there at 2:40, which I assumed was the “get there 15 minutes before your appointment” reminder. I got to the office at 2:44, but the person who was to give me the test had already left. Not even in the building anymore. I called to reschedule and to voice my unhappiness about a technician so quickly out the door. The woman I talked with said she would tell her supervisor and that person would call me. No one called.
On the day of my fourth attempt to get the EKG I was told I needed, I got a call canceling the appointment. “Why?” I asked. I was told that they had determined I didn’t need an EKG. I asked Dr. Brown about how they could go through three appointments without recognizing my lack of need for the test. Turns out, he never even knew one had been scheduled.
During this appointment, he stayed across the room from me the whole time, didn’t answer my question about personalized care and how that could be accomplished with this system. I told him that the trazadone he had prescribed as a sleep aid didn’t work for me. He then told me the names of three other similar drugs and asked me what I wanted to do. I replied, “I have no idea what those drugs are. You are the doctor—what is your suggestion?” He didn’t answer that question and moved on. He said he would change the dosage on the muscle relaxant he had prescribed earlier and make a couple of referrals for me. He left the office. At this point his “scribe” listened to my heart and lungs and checked my feet.
He never prescribed any of the three drugs he promised he would, and the one referral he made was to a doctor who had retired over a year ago.
On my way out the door, I was given a written summary of the visit that had 18 errors on it. It did not have all my prescriptions on it, though I brought in a list. (I only counted this as one error.) It did have listed a cream or something of that ilk for my arthritis, though we had never talked about it and it was never prescribed. The biggest shock came when I read I suffer from major depression, although that was never discussed and I have never been diagnosed with any form of depression. There were 15 other errors with which I will not bore you. I called the national number the next day to ask them to ask the Kalamazoo Office to call me to correct the numerous errors. The man I talked with (who said I was very kind not to yell at him as most people did) said the office would call within 24 hours. They never called.
All of this is true, though it does leave out a lot of frustration and little junk.
So, I ask you, is the last office visit worth $256.66? I didn’t think so either. Can you name any instance where I received personalized care?

After 2 yrs, very disappointed

I had 3 or 4 favorite PAs at Oak st health in MWC, OK. They've all moved on now. The last visit, apr 2026, I had to see PA Morgan Green, again. She was 45 min late to the rm & might have been later if I hadn't opened the door to leave. She didn't act like she wanted to be there, both visits. Info on tests were recorded, she didn't read them until getting to the rm. Apparently I've got heart blockage, recorded in early march. Never referred to a specialist. I've done what my favs did & moved on, to an MD that will refer me

I called the first time for a appointment and they we're rude and wouldn't give me any information. The second time I had asked for an appointment and they scheduled me,I had to wait a month. A few days before my appointment they emailed me and said it was canceled because of my insurance which they told me they took so I had my insurance call them and they gave him a runaround and weren't honest. Maybe some of the locations are friendly and helpful but not at the Rockford location. For anyone thinking of going there, trust me "GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!

Excellent Care

Today I accompanied my friend who has Stage IV breast cancer to Oak Street Health for a follow up appointment.
I was highly impressed with Dr Karen Cardon and the Social Worker, whose name I unfortunately didn't quite catch.
Both were extremely professional and caring, and spent a large amount of time with my friend.

Billing Department

When I first went to Oakstreet Health I was very happy with them. They closed down with only a month notice to find a new health care provider. After their closure I received a bill for blood work that they sent to another facility to process (without my knowledge or approval) The blood lab is now charging me because Oakstreet incorrectly coded it so they can not bill Medicare or my private insurance. Oakstreet refuses to code it correctly or to return my calls. This has been going on for 3 months. I have documentation for all time I have called them & all the times they promised to get back to me within 24 hours.Their billing department needs to be investigated for exploiting senior citizens.

Provider was thorough and asked great…But Follow not good

Provider was thorough and asked great questions. My longtime PCP left his practice and joined a new one that specializes in cancer patients. I had to find a new PCP and chose Oak Street Health. I was very impressed in the thoroughness of the provider I was assigned to, she asked a lot of questions and they took several blood samples. A few days later I received a call from a gentleman at Oak Street telling me they had received the results of the blood tests and one of them showed I had a hyperactive thyroid and they had an Endocrinologist they would recommend. I asked the guy if he could mail the info to me and he agreed. A couple of days later I could see that the info hadn’t been mailed in my USPS app and called Oak Street and told them I would come in and get the info. This is where the “fun” starts. I went to the front desk and told the receptionist why I was there. She pulled up my records and told me the name of the person I had spoken with and then told me she couldn’t release the info as they were waiting for approval. I asked her “approval from whom” as my insurance doesn’t require a referral, she became evasive and told me a third-party service they work with. Long story short I walked away without the info and test results I needed. Now I am forced to find an Endocrinologist on my own and most likely will have to have the same blood tests done all over again, which adds unnecessary costs and time to the equation
