male changing room
I am writing to raise a concern regarding privacy standards in the male changing room, showers, and toilet areas.
Recently, a female cleaner has been cleaning inside these areas while men are present and in the process of changing for work. There were no warning signs, no temporary closure, and no announcement before entering. This created an uncomfortable situation where individuals had no opportunity to maintain their privacy.
For clarity, my concern is not about the cleaner personally, but about the lack of proper procedures. In most facilities, when cross-gender staff must clean sensitive areas, the following standards are expected:
Clear signs posted (e.g., “Cleaner Inside – Please Wait Before Entering”).
Announcements before entering the area.
Allowing time for occupants to cover up or exit.
Temporary closure of showers or toilets when required.
When possible, assigning same-gender cleaners for sensitive spaces.
I respectfully request that the facility review and implement appropriate privacy protocols so that both staff and users feel comfortable and respected.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. I would appreciate confirmation that this issue will be addressed.

In order to keep the changing facilities to the high standard of cleanliness we expect, regular checks are made in both the male and female changing facilities. This is an operational requirement, and does mean that on occasion, it may be that a member of the opposite sex must enter the changing facilities if it is within a period where there are no male members of the team on shift and vice versa for the female changing facilities. In these instances, each member of staff should take measures to ensure no one in the changing facilities feels uncomfortable, and is aware they will be entering. If there are any further concerns, we would ask that you get in touch directly with our dedicated team safespace@puregym.com; a confidential means of alerting us to any behavioural concerns. Joined and left on the same day. Poor equipment - some of the equipment had 'out of order' placards placed on them. Really disappointed.

We are equally as disappointed when, from time to time, things go wrong and equipment has to be placed out of order. Regular maintenance checks are undertaken, and any issues identified are escalated to engineers straight away. Sometimes, there may be a small wait whilst engineers attend to fix any issues, but we endeavour to resolve these as soon as possible.
If you have any concerns about specific pieces of equipment in your gym, please notify staff on site as soon as you can.

The gym is very basic and lacks…
The gym is very basic and lacks atmosphere. The work out areas are ok, but could be improved by having private divided areas of space as all open plan. The showers are scalding hot in the womans changing rooms and burned me, massive health and safety issue, also no locks on them. No tv you can watch while working out, looking at frosted glass is not great!, I will not be returning. Found it depressing atmosphere. It was quite and plenty of parking space, that is the only decent thing. The gym could improve from better equipment and creating better work out areas, where people have more privacy and promotes more motivation.

Temperatures and air conditioning in our gyms are automatically regulated by Smart machines, but if there is a persistent issue staff may be able to override it and can certainly report it to be checked by engineers.

Good gym - but showers need to be better
This is a great gym with a good availability of equipment - I use the treadmills most times and its good I am always able to get on. The reason for only 3 stars is the showers. I find the water temperature is fairly OK most of the time but could be a bit hotter. Also the flow of the shower water is weak and not a strong flow. A good experience in the shower after a workout is an important part of my Pure Gym experience. This is most important especially in autumn and winter when the weather is a lot colder - and a good shower is essential at this time of year. I am happy to pay for increase in membership prices if the showers can be improved to what they are at the moment. If the showers are improved as I have described, I would definitely give 5 stars

We pay a lot for they membership, but the equipment quality is completely shame
I’ve been a member at PureGym Wolverhampton South for a while now, and while I appreciate the friendly staff and convenient location, I’m really disappointed in the equipment quality. We pay a lot for our memberships, yet many machines feel outdated and worn down. It’s clear that an upgrade is desperately needed to match the cost we’re putting into this gym. I hope PureGym invests in better, more modern equipment soon—members deserve it given the premium price.
