Depends on who you get at the time of day

Staff at the racv call centre are a mixed bag . Firstly I rang a girl named Na***** up for a car insurance quote and was told they couldn’t get to it because their system is down as to which I completely understand .However bieng spoken down to in a condescending and abrupt way by her was unacceptable,if you don’t like your job just say so!!
When I called for the second time, the other woman R***** was very helpful and took the time to explain and answer the questions I was asking!
The process was much easier than previous times as I am still figuring out which quote will suit myself!

This business is incompetent

Racv auto care Mildura. This business is incompetent, rude towards customers, the staff are incapable of answering some simple questions of pre-purchase of a toyota rav4 model to look out for serious problems with transmission or cold start rattle but refused to answer my questions. The receptionist just fobs people off. Do not go there their conduct also is price gouging, dishonest quotes as stated on reviews, incorrectly diagnose car issues. Avoid this place they will rip you off and don't care. Do not believe a word these people say. A good honest mechanic would answer my questions with confidence without fuss. Manners, respect, kindness, friendliness goes a long way rudeness does not

APPAULING SERVICE!!!

I have been chasing RACV for nearly 6 weeks now to settle a 100% not at fault claim. I this time I have had to ring them weekly, and now every other day to keep them moving on my claim. Each time I speak to someone they fob my off by either transferring me to another department of blaming another department for the delays, and always the same story! RACV are absolutely useless, avoid them at all costs. I will be changing insurers as soon as this claim is finished.

Though I am a RACV member for 30 years…

Though I am a RACV member for 30 years (nearly), I wanted to get a quote for Home & Contents Insurance& went to RACV shop in Knoxfield (Knox city) Victoria. I met Mr. Andrew who took his time to explain me briefly about the product...!!!
That explanation enabled me to, go-ahead with it.
Mr. Andrew is a true Professional & great help in making my decision to proceed. Please convey my "SINCERE & HEARTFELT THANK YOU" to Mr. Andrew.
Dear neighbours... if you ever in similar situation, you know whom to speak to now...!!!

I had a very disappointing experience…

I had a very disappointing experience with Alicia. She wasted my time and was quite rude throughout the interaction. It felt like she didn’t know how to properly communicate with customers or handle the situation professionally.

I was involved in an accident that was clearly the other party’s fault, but instead of providing helpful guidance, she told me I should “force them” to lodge a claim, which is not practical or helpful advice.

Due to this experience, I am now considering taking legal action to resolve the matter.

Overall, I would not recommend RACV based on this poor customer service experience.

Having been gold members in RACWA from…

Having been gold members in RACWA from 1989 we moved to Vic. RACVIC are lazy and doest recognise our gold member status, happy to take our money but give nothing back. When they quote us they quote high, then recognise their back room have not passed on our gold member status, cant change it, but we use other insurers instead. Dont bother with RACVIC their management sucks, not their staff, their management

I will never recommend racv to anyone

I will never recommend racv to anyone. I have been with racv for so long with 4 insurance but when iam trying to get the claim for thr first time and I have been told that a roof leak tiles broke I have to get so many jobs done myself before racv will continue with the claim. Racv suppose to get all jobs done instead of me getting the job done myself. Not worth paying my premium. I will not recommend racv to anyone and better get out of here asap.

im paying for extra care and wanted to change one of the cars to a different car because 1 is diesel and the other is lpg ive decided to put the diesel into mothballs while there is a war on and the cost is to high for long distance trips and was told i wont be able to change it back is the price of diesel goes back to normal what a rip im paying the money and should be able to cover any car i want

Absolutely terrible service from RACV…

Absolutely terrible service from RACV member relations consultant Kruti. My son tried to cancel a policy that was only taken out 2 days ago due to finding a better insurance company and price but due to not being able to send him an sms (his phone was flat) said they couldn't verify his details even though home address, policy number, drivers licence and email address were provided. The policy was taken out online/phone and was still in cooling off period no payment made. I can fully understand the importance of verifying details but a young person should not have to be subjected to such a horrible experience. Rude and uncooperative. Surely common sense should prevail. Policy is only a guideline. I will be telling all my family and friends to avoid dealing with RACV. A truly disappointing interaction. If i could leave zero stars i would.

Horrible service

Perhaps one of the worst (if not "The Worst") travel insurance experience that I have encountered. Horrible service, disconnected teams, rubbish rationale (i.e. they love to get your money upfront, but discard your receipts as they do not wish to pay back). Don't even bother talking to them, even a one star review is too generous.

50 Years of Loyalty Met with Total Amnesia

I am currently managing my father’s estate, a task that is already complex enough without having to re-introduce myself to RACV every single time I call. My family has been with this company for nearly five decades. I have been his Power of Attorney and managed his finances for twenty years. Yet, every time I call to progress a claim, I am treated like a security risk.

The system continuously "forgets" my authorisation. I spend up to an hour on hold only to be disconnected or passed to a consultant who has no record of the previous five people I’ve spoken to. It is a hollow, exhausting loop.

The latest incident involves significant damage to our front fence at Watsonia North, likely caused by contractors at a neighbouring vacant property. Instead of receiving support during a stressful "hit and run" claim, I am forced to jump through the same identity hoops I cleared years ago.

It is deeply disappointing to see a Victorian institution lose its way like this. We are currently finalising the estate, and frankly, I can’t wait to be done with RACV. I’ll be moving our business to a company that actually has a robust process for executors and, more importantly, some respect for their long-term members.

Advice for others: If you are managing an estate or acting as a PoA, be prepared for a fight just to be recognised.

Avoid at all cost. Whatever you are looking, don’t go with them. I went to RACV for IDP and asked the progress of my application. They replied to me nothing. They don’t know. And try to send link and more link.

RACV use approved repairers

RACV use approved repairers. These repairers are not necessarily good panel shops, but they do repair a car in line with what RACV says. A RACV car was damaged twice last year, the repair is extremely poor quality, using bog, when parts were meant to be replaced. Rust now forming on the repair. RACV expect the car to go back to the panel shop whom couldn't get it right the first time. They are bullying, reference to the PDS that the car must go back to the original repair shop even though they did not repair the car suitably. Now a complaint has gone to AFCA... This should not be happening in the 21st century. The only reason RACV gets one star is because there isnt an option to go lower.
People,start taking them to AFCA, I have seen comments that assessors wont pay more than $4000 and so on, this is pathetic. Take them to AFCA(Australian Financial Complaints Authority) whom are the ombudsman for these clowns. The more complaints AFCA get, then the sooner AFCA will let ASIC or the ACCC know. Its an online process, pretty quick and if you cant manage it, see a financial counsellor.

3 hour wait then the tech tried to scam/sell us a battery we didnt need

My son accidentally flattened the battery with the air con without turning on the car. $210 to join RACV then waited 3.5 hours for a jump start. The RACV mechanic tried to tell us the battery was faulty and we'd have to pay $270 for a new one. The car had been serviced a week earlier. The car jump started fine. After a 45 minute drive home the car started again no problem. Started again the next morning no problem. Had the battery tested and found nothing wrong with it.
