Very disappointing Birmingham…
Very disappointing Birmingham event/scam
We attended RA Monster Events’ Birmingham Monster Truck Motorfest and unfortunately it fell far below what had been advertised.
The Monster Truck shows were the main reason we booked. The published schedule advertised three Slingshot Monster Truck shows, including a Grand Finale Crush Show, but none of them took place.
RA have since told me that ticket holders were contacted beforehand and given the option not to attend. I did not receive an email or any other direct notification. I have also since seen numerous other attendees saying they only found out after travelling to the venue or even when their tickets were being scanned.
Because the shows were cancelled, we queued for approximately two hours for the 'free Monster Truck ride' which is not ideal in the heat with young kids and a short ride after such a long queue was not remotely equivalent to the three advertised arena shows.
The funfair pricing was another frustration. RA advertised '50p off ALL fairground rides' and specifically told customers to show the voucher to the ride operator to receive the discount. We did this and were told by operators that the discount had already been included in the displayed prices. There was no original price displayed showing any reduction had been made, and the advertised 50p was not deducted when we showed the voucher.
We also stayed for the advertised 6pm Dolly Parton tribute. We went to the music area around 5pm specifically for it, but after a couple of songs from the artist before her the entertainment ended and the advertised performance did not take place.
I fully understand that technical problems can happen. What I find disappointing is the combination of the headline attraction being cancelled, no advance notification being received, other advertised elements not taking place, and then being told that because our tickets were scanned we are not entitled to a refund.
Refused a refund.
Based on our experience, I would not book again, complete rip off!
Don’t bother, overpriced fun fair, no monster trucks.
Don’t bother with these events. Complete rip off. It was basically an expensive fun fair with no monster trucks.
Drove over an hour thinking this would be a great day out.
We experienced stewards swearing excessively in front of small children.
We purchased 2 coffees, 2 fruit shoots, 2 cans of pop cost £26.
After some overpriced drinks, we were then hit with £10 for 2 people to walk round the worlds worst ‘fun house’.
No seating around the arena.
No monster trucks!! No explanation on the day, no prior notice via email.
Thankfully the motocross displays were good but that didn’t make up for why we went there in the first place. Ultimately we booked this day to see monster trucks and we didn’t see one, and got charged a fortune for some fair ground rides which were nothing special.
Wouldn’t book one of these again. Wouldn’t recommend it.
Awful communication...Attended the Market Rasen monster event…
Attended the Market Rasen monster event on Sunday 23 Aug with 3 year old. Got there at 10am after an hour and 30 mins drive, expecting a full day out, left by 1pm. Lots of empty parking spots round us where others had clearly left early too.
Only discovered there was no monster truck show when 11am, the scheduled time, came and went and it didn't appear. Neither did the transformers characters, the two main reasons we booked. Received no prior comms about this, no on site signage or announcements either. The only reference to the monster truck no show was during the motorbike and quad bike show when that commentator said, "let's address the elephant in the room... We're all disappointed that there's no monster truck"...
£3 for 8 mins on the Blaze themed bouncy castle - a sweetener for the disappointed 3 year old. £4 for a magnum icelolly and £4 for a tub with a flake.
As others said, it's a glorified funfair, no seating provided, though it was on grass so at least people could sit down.
The BMX show duo was entertaining as were the quad and motorbike kids but only as warm up and support acts for the main event, the monster trucks. Feel hugely disappointed, like we were misled.
I don't usually leave reviews but feel compelled to after today's experience.
I agree with much of the other 1 star reviews unfortunately.
Waste of money!
We went today, it was pretty naff for the money you pay! Non of the fair ground rides are included in entry and are around £4/£5 a go per person. £10 for cheese and bacon chips, £6.50 for ice cream with sauce and sprinkles in a pot, £4 for a cup of tea! If you do go make sure you’ve got plenty of money with you.
The best bit was the freestyler motocross riders which we saw for half an hour but fair play to them they were great!
No monster trucks and no transformers
No monster trucks and no transformers. In fact it was generally lacking in any real children's entertainment compared to the timetable. Once you've seen the stunt shows, there was nothing else to do without spending money so left early
What an absolute shambles of a company…
What an absolute shambles of a company this is. Unfortunately I can only go off my own experience but please read reviews before committing to purchasing any tickets for these events.
We brought tickets back in March for monster truck fest. There was one monster truck and it was broken. Spent all morning with the bonnet up. The shows never ran to schedule or even at all. We left after 1.5hrs. the pa system wasn't working so the only show we saw was someone riding in circles in silence for 20 minutes. Kids were gutted so no monster trucks for them to see. Tried contacting them for a refund and they are refusing to accept any problems and won't refund even tho they have now renamed the event to not include monster truck - as there isn't any! We found out after we left on the Sunday they had posted late sat night to let customers know the monster truck wasn't able to perform and we could have free rides as a good will gesture.... The truck couldn't drive so that wasn't available to take advantage of. The post was hidden below many many posts from the day so no body saw it. No email to customers and no one said anything on the day about the monster truck not being operational. All in all a massive waste of money for an over priced fun fair. Company have since stopped replying to emails and seem unable to get hold of.
Terrible and misleading event
Terrible and misleading event
Really disappointing event and, in my opinion, completely misrepresented in the advertising.
The event was marketed as a Monster Truck & Car Stunt Show, and the advertised timetable clearly listed multiple monster truck shows, car stunt shows and a finale. We attended expecting exactly that, especially as this was the main reason we paid to go.
There was no monster truck show and no car stunt show whatsoever. Instead, there were just a few motorbikes doing relatively short displays. This was nothing like what had been advertised.
On top of that, the funfair games were very overpriced, making an already disappointing day even more frustrating.
Overall, a very disappointing and expensive day. The event did not deliver what was advertised, and I would not recommend it. If you are paying specifically to see monster trucks and car stunts, be aware that this was not what we experienced at all.
Very disappointing – refund still unresolved
I purchased 3 tickets to Monster Truck Motorfest Staffordshire on 24th October, specifically because my two-year-old absolutely loves monster trucks.
I have since been informed that the monster truck is out of action, and I have also now found out that the monster truck owners have withdrawn from all of their future events. Had I known this when booking, I would not have purchased the tickets.
I contacted the organisers to request a full refund, as advised by them, but after 3 days I am still waiting for a response.
I understand that circumstances can change, but when the main attraction advertised is no longer attending, I would expect a straightforward refund and better communication with customers.
If I don’t receive a response within 5 working days, I will be raising a dispute with my bank and requesting a chargeback.
Very disappointed with the situation and, so far, the lack of customer service.
No monster trucks at the monster truck show
Went to the RA monster truck event at Market Rasen, after an hour of watching stunt bikes I went to ask a member of staff what time the monster trucks started to be told that the monster trucks weren’t at this show, there was a mechanical failure and they had changed the timetable.
I received no communication beforehand, no advertisements at the venue to advise of the change, in fact the website is still advertising the event as a monster truck show despite the monster truck company confirming they have pulled out of all future RA events.
Yes there are also lots of fairground rides but they’re an average of £6 per go, so you need deep pockets to keep kids entertained after the disappointment of no monster trucks.
Customer service is non-existent, nobody is replying to messages or comments. I’ll never go near this company again.
No Monster Trucks
Over Priced, tickets describe Monster Trucks, not a single monster truck there, tickets are over priced, when selling tickets they don’t take into account how cramped the venue is going to be ! Avoid at all costs
Zero stars!! AVOID LIERS
Absolutely no monster trucks. Said they had a fault but assured if you went there would be cheap monster truck rides. Nope. Not one.
Prices for rides were ridiculous. £6 for 8 mins on a bouncy castle. What a joke. Glad we brought a picnic as food was crazy price too £6 for an ice cream. Only enjoyable bit was the wrestling. We left early as so crap. Boy was so disappointed that no monster trucks was there.
Guy on the caterpillar ride was angry and rude.
Went last year and it was great but won't ever be going back again. Please don't waste your money or time.
What an absolute huge waste of money!
What an absolute huge waste of money!
No monster trucks, no transformers, both of which are advertised when you book. £40(!) For frozen chicken wraps x 2, chips and some frozen chicken tenders. No seating, inappropriate jokes by the 'performers' and just an all round scam. I booked this as something to do that looked fab, it was for my boys' birthdays. We left feeling bitterly disappointed and scammed out of £100 (£157 if you include the rubbish food and 4 drinks)
It's just an expensive funfair with the usual rides for £4 a go, some portaloos that were gross and a field for motorbikes and BMX's to do stunts in.
AVOID, DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY
Waste of money
Waste of money, nothing like what was promised.
Total scam
No Monster Trucks !
Advertised as Monster Truck Event being the main event….snd Monster Trucks cancelled a day before event. No way of contacting a real person prior to the event to see if a refund will be given so left in limbo whether to use tickets to save throwing money away and risk getting refunded. No Monster trucks seems to be a regular occurrence reading previous posts. They are still advertising the event having Monster Trucks there knowing full well they won’t be. Absolute sham and scam of people’s hard earned money and one very upset little boy now not understanding what’s gone on. AVOID !!!
Absolutely shocking
Absolutely shocking. We attended to see monster trucks but were then told there were no monster trucks. Couple of motor bikes on jumps and shockingly overpriced food and games. Avoid these utter criminals, what a waste of time. Emailed for full refund
If I don’t get a refund I will be…
If I don’t get a refund I will be taking all the screenshots I’ve gathered to a small claims court! I will not be attending tomorrow! I want my money back otherwise I will take it further due to you taking money by false representation…. Telling people to wait on a Facebook message to get no message it’s wrong! Someone needs to stand up for all of us that are not happy! This company are nothing but scammers!
Absolute scammers.
Absolute scammers.
No monster trucks at a monster truck show. Not advised of this until after entering the event. Most of the advertised characters weren’t there. You’re basically paying for a funfair, which is extortionately priced!
Messaged for a refund and had no response like hundreds of others commenting on social media.
They block you from their Facebook page for commenting.
I’ve claimed the funds back through my bank thankfully who will reclaim back from these criminals.
AVOID
not as advertised
We attended the Monster Truck Motorfest at Market Rasen Racecourse today and were extremely disappointed with the experience.
The night before, we found out via Facebook that the monster truck show wouldn’t be going ahead, as well as the monster truck ride. However, the wording wasn’t clear that the ride definitely wouldn’t be there, and we received no official email or direct communication to let us know.
We were told there would be lots more stunts, events, characters, stalls and food options, but the reality was very different. There were very few stunts, nothing like the videos that had previously been advertised, and nowhere near as many characters as shown.
For us, it essentially felt like we had paid £60 for three people to enter a funfair, with the rides then costing at least another £5 each. One ride for the three of us cost an additional £15. Considering the entry price, we expected considerably more to be included.
There were also only around three food stalls, one coffee stand and two small stalls selling items. This was nowhere near what we understood would be there from the advertising, which gave the impression of a much larger event with significantly more stalls, food and entertainment.
We were so disappointed that we stayed for around two hours before deciding to leave. It just didn’t feel worth the £60 entry fee, particularly when the main attraction we had paid to see wasn’t taking place.
I have contacted the company regarding a refund and am still waiting to hear back. I understand that circumstances can change and events may have to be altered, but the communication, advertising and overall value for money were extremely disappointing.
Unfortunately, based on our experience today, we wouldn’t attend again.
So were do I start wish I read the…
So were do I start eish I read the reviews first ... you pay nearly £25pp .. 1) no monster truck !!!
£5 for candy floss
Food expensive, ride were expensive ranging from £3-£6 might not seem bad to some people but your paying nearly 70 for a family of three to basically stand and watch bikes go around admitted these where okay but just repeated throughout the day
Firstly it was advertised 10-10 then all of a sudden end at 7 , should of been different singers on on different time slots
Same singer all way through couldn't hear her sing and she just sung whatever (nothing as describe in the list of entertainment)
Good job we brought pack-up!
None of the cartons came out either what was advertised .
Utter scam in my eyes and totally over prices
Scam artists
Please be warned that there are NO Monster trucks at these events. The Monster truck company are no longer working with RA Monster, it is NOT due to a technical fault. In my opinion, a lot of over priced rides and over priced food and over priced entry free. I have come away with a very disappointed birthday boy.
