I tried to get a 20 yard container, signed the contract. It was supposed to be delivered the next day. I got a phone call that they didn’t accept my signature on the DocuSign so I had to sign another document. Then I waited six hours for it to go back to management to approve a pricing structure. That was a promotion. Then the next day they called me and said they couldn’t honor that price. Told me I had to sign another contract thank God I looked at the contract first and they wanted to charge me $360 more and we’re not gonna tell me how much more just said I needed to sign another contract. They had already taken the money out of my account, the amount they had me sign the contract for the first day I had called. Very sneaky business practices I would not recommend them to anyone. The first clue should’ve been when I asked if they had a phone number in case something happened and I needed to call them back that I had to call back the regular Sales Line incident on hold for 20 to 25 minutes. I don’t know how they have any customers treating people this way it’s absolutely disgusting.

I wrote a review on google and republic services responded almost immediately on the page for everyone who reads the review to see, claiming they would be happy to help me resolve the issue. They even provided a link to message them. I responded via that link and told them that I would never use their services again and to pick up their bin. All of this took place before the bill was due, yet they kept sending notices that the payment was overdue, then that they were suspending service, and finally a threat to send the account for further collection. The entire experience was exhausting and I can’t see their actions as anything less than dishonest. Terrible, terrible company.

This is one of the worst companies I have ever dealt with. I canceled my service, which took hours of waiting on their non existent phone line that nobody EVER answers. Still getting bills, I have zero way of turning it off. Stay as far away from this company if you have any choice.

Hands down the worst trash company I’ve dealt with. Constant, unjustified price hikes, awful customer service, and rates that are twice as high as competitors. Absolutely do not recommend.
What happened to courtesy?
It used to be that when they came to pick up the garbage, they were fairly good if a garbage can was too close to car or not exactly where they could grab it. They would get out and move it over a couple inches now they just go on by and ignore it, but they do take the time to get out of their truck and take a picture. It’s too hard to move the garbage can but taking a picture is very easy that just gives me a chance to cover their butts because I didn’t want to pick up the garbage can or didn’t wanna move it and they also report things like overfilled if the lid isn’t completely shut which just again covers their butt the drivers literally are the worst. They drive ridiculously fast down our street. They speed from house to house as quick as they can slam it on their brakes they just simply don’t care about a customer anymore.

Next minth bill they charged me for 2 locations and $145 transfer fee.

Zero customer service
The cost of the service constantly increases and they have cracked my can by slamming it down after pick up. I've sat on the phone for over an hour trying to speak to a customer service representative. The only way to cancel is by calling. But you can't get anyone on the phone when you do call. Stay away from Republic. There are local companies who will respond to inquiries and are happy to have your business.
They CREATE more trash than carry off "some" days
I've been using this company for 4 years and i'm closing my account. They are known for leaving cans laying all over the road, leaving trash scattered in the pickup area, and missing pickups.
Now, the scary part is I've been told TWO men ride the truck and they don't pick up the messes they have made. I won't waste another dollar on them.
Being "the only game in town" is not a reference to use them.
My review is set for today's date but it's an expansion of over four years.
While their phone operators are decent people and they do try and fix things, their road people are just careless in general. While not "all" of their drivers may be this way, it was constant at my home.
I don't particularly enjoy having to jump through hoops to "end" my service. I didn't when i was hooking it up so why would i closing it?
They will apologize, claim to look into it, and really it won't get fixed.

Just because its only trash doesn't mean that you should treat your customers that way. I've had issues with this company since January 2026 and its only gotten worse. My questions and concerns were simple but apparently to the customer representatives, I was inconveniencing them and my concerns didn't matter. I was hit with statements like: "just because you're a new customer that doesn't mean you get a new container", "the bill is correct, we didn't lie" and my favorite "let me try to get you a lower rate". The initial bill was prorated and super high, when I asked questions I was met with a loud talking, angry rep who hung up on me. I have ONE container and the cost for 3 months is $185.67 (LIKE WTF). I did the math and their receipt says ($58.66) I was thinking this is a great quarterly price, NOT TRUE, its $58.66 times 3! They are rude, liars and they don't care about their customers at all. I spent 27 minutes on the phone just trying to get answers and cancel my service. I asked to speak to a manager and was on hold for 10 minutes because I checked the rep about being rude and cutting me off while I was talking. She obviously didn't expect me to correct her on how she was talking to me so I was on hold longer than I needed to be. Point is this, no matter what customer service should be fantastic especially when there's a concern or problem. If your customer service is horrible everything else will be considered to be horrible as well. I DO NOT RECOMMENT REPUBLIC SERVICES for your trash/waste removal needs unless you want to be treated like the trash that they are hauling away! My horrible experiences with them started on January 5 2026 and have carried on until today when I cancelled March 23 2026!
Stay away from Republic Services
Stay away from Republic Services. They raised our fee from $420.89 to $536.69 with no notice. I cancelled but they refused without 60 days notice even though our contract is up. I turned off autopay and they fraudulently charged my credit cards. BEWARE!!!!
Accommodating after a snow storm
Republic recently took over for our small local garbage service. We live rurally in the mountains and it is amazing that we get curbside pick up. Recently we had snow that prevented the truck from getting to use on our scheduled day. It was true of several areas and several days. When they were finally able to do the pick up they allowed us to put out all the "extra" garbage in black trash bags for pick-up. Thanks.
I had a question about bulk waste…
I had a question about bulk waste pickup that wasn’t answered by the website. When calling the customer service number I was answered by an AI “virtual assistant”. This was a complete waste of time. All it did was ask my address and after painfully verifying my address with a chatbot that doesn’t hear well, all it could do for me was ask if I had a missed pickup issue. Completely worthless. Finally got transferred to a real help line and got my question answered by a real person.
Service is terrible and inconsistent
Service is terrible and inconsistent. Called to schedule a bulk pickup according to their instructions and was just given the runaround. Each of the 3 times I called I was told they were coming but they never showed up.
Horrible customer service
I moved to another town in October. It took me speaking to 5-count ‘em -five agents to get my account cancelled. What sent me over the top was the bill yesterday threatening to send my account to a collection agency. This after assurances from earlier calls that everything was set and I would only get a bill for container removal. Avoid this company.
They make things difficult to accomplish
Even though I no longer live at the service address and no longer have any "active containers on your account", I cannot delete my account online in order to stop receiving emails from them, for example to update my credit card because the current one they have on file is about to expire. Why would I need to get an email to update my credit card if I have no service at my old address. I now live elsewhere with city trash service and no longer need Republic Services, but still I would have to wait on the phone to talk to a services representative to delete my account. Why do they make it so hard to delete my account when I no longer get service from them???

So I wanted to share my recent experience with Republic Waste Services that way anyone who uses their services or are looking to get their services you are fully aware of what kind of company this is. I have had garbage service with them for 3 years we started out paying $90 a month and over the 3years it has now doubled in price. I had finally had enough of paying over $160 for just waste services so I called on 1/23 to inquire about when my billing period ended I was told that my new billing cycle started on 2/1 and I promptly let them know I wanted to cancel my services and they assured me it would be cancelled on 1/31. They arranged to come and pick up my can the following week. Ok so now this is where things take a turn for the worse.....I got a call last week that my balance had not been paid -past due of $160.53. I'm so confused at this point I cancelled my services so I shouldn't owe anything?!?!?!? So I call them and they give me some bullshit excuse on why I was invoiced saying I didn't call in until the 23rd and the bill was generated on the 20th but she said she would assure me I would have a 0 balance. Even thought the billing invoice date was 2/9. Which as far as I know 2/9 is after 1/20?!?!?!? Ok so I have to call and argue and fight with these idiots to clear the balance. After speaking with multiple reps and supervisors I got my balance down to 0. In the future I will not recommend this company to anyone they are shisty people who just want to steal your money!!!!
There is no customer service
There is no customer service. I called and requested carry out service on 2/20/26. i was told that it was set and there wasn't anything else needed. On the 23rd my cans were not emptied. I called and was told that the cans would be picked up within two hours. I called 3 times on the 23rd, no one came. I called twice on the 24th. Again I was give two different times, which were not met.
On the 25th I went to their listed address for Richmond,CA. There is no name outside the building. When I finally got inside, there is a huge empty lobby. I go to Room 100 and there is a sign saying this office is closed. I decided to walk to the side of the building and there is a office 115. I go in, ring the bell and began explaining myself. I was told that I should not use the 800 number because those people are not local and most times can't help So why have an 800 number? I submitted the letter from the doctor, but she wasn't sure if that was good enough, since they have a form. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told that no one was there. I asked to have my bill pro rated and was told to place the cans at the curb for Friday morning.
After 6 phone calls, multiple lies, and detective work to find a hidden location, i am still where I was on 2/20/26.

Ordered service on 1-29, and paid $50 startup fee. They didn't pick up my can for the first time until 2-16, after originally promising a 2-9 pickup. Before I even had a pickup, they had already invoices me another $70. For non existent service. Then they failed to pick up my can again on 2-23. Terrible service. Avoid.
Worse customer service
Worse customer service. ON hold for 30 minutes before I could speak to someone. I stopped my auto-pay on MARCH 10. They took their payment on MARCH 20!!! They wont refund because they pull the data on MARCH 1st. WHAT A JOKE!!!
WORST CUSTOMER AGENTS I'VE EVER MET
IF I COULD I'D GIVE THIS COMPANY A MINUS 5. EVEN THEIR PHONE AGENTS ARE USELESS NOT TO MENTION SOME OF THEM HAVE ACCENTS THAT ARE SO FRICKING THICK ALL THEY CAN DO IS PUT PEOPLE BACK INTO QUE TO WAIT SOME MORE. THEIR SERVICES SUCK!!! ALL AROUND I WOULLD NEVER USE YOUR COMPANY IF THERE WAS ANOTHER TRASH SERVICE!
