The company I was employed by previously used Romilly for their pension contribution scheme.
I have left that employment after 7 years to become self employed. I contacted Marcus who seemed disinterested in helping move the pension from the start. I was asked to complete and sign an authorisation document for Romilly to obtain information from the pension provider. After a significant amount of time went by I contacted Romilly to find out if there was progress, I spoke to someone in the absence of Marcus who wanted £1,500 to port my pension to an alternative provider. The person I spoke with was unhelpful and dismissive of my basic questions. I was told to speak with Marcus when he comes back as they were not interested in helping me.
Marcus called me after some weeks had passed. Marcus would not help with with any questions I had regarding pensions (I am not an expert in pensions, that's why I approached them). I asked Marcus why he was unwilling to help me and why he seemed uninterested the new business I was trying provide him with, I asked if it was not high enough value to him? He laughed and said it was not high enough in value for him to be bothered with.
I am really disappointed that a company and an individual could have a attitude like this to a customer who doesn't know much about pensions and a customer who was handing them business.
I would avoid this company and find someone who genuinely wants the business and is happy to help you.

At Romilly Financial we strive to put the client first and would never transact any business which we feel would be unnecessary and not beneficial to the client. I apologise if this has come across as aloof.
Marcus Rees is a senior member of the team and has assisted many clients in his long time here, regardless of their pension value. He is sorry that you feel this way and has offered to clarify the advice he gave you should there be any misunderstanding.
