Normandy and Paris trip
Used the Rough Guides local tour company to arrange a 9 night trip to Normandy and Paris. Very interesting time in Normandy especially - WWII museum, battle sites and cemetery, Mont St. Michel, Honfleur, Etretat. Paris is always a wonderful city to explore.

Multi generation Indonesia family trip
We used rough guides to plan a multi-generation trip (seniors, young kids, and parents) to Indonesia. We wanted to visit parts of Java, Komodo and a beach destination. The trip planner Jessica was very helpful. We started with a Bali itinerary, but she was receptive to our feedback and helped update it to go to Lombok instead.
On the ground experience was very good too. I had a WhatsApp group with Jessica and Shella (local support) and both were extremely supportive for any unforeseen situations and questions.
Last but not the least, my dad needed some support during the trip due to his age. All the guides helped provide care for him, at times going out of the way.
I have used Rough Guides before, and would use them again in future.

Peru
My friend and I booked a tailored trip to Peru—our first time doing something like this—and it exceeded all expectations. Maria, who handles trips in Peru, Ecuador, and Colombia, was outstanding from start to finish.
She clearly communicated every detail before booking, adjusted the itinerary to our wishes, and handled everything professionally and with care. Payment was smooth, and she remained available whenever issues came up—even when our flights caused delays, she stepped in to help immediately.
The guides were knowledgeable, patient, and passionate, adding depth to our experience. The drivers were reliable, and the whole trip felt both well-planned and pleasantly spontaneous.
Even when minor problems came up, Maria resolved them quickly and efficiently. Her dedication made all the difference.

Our driver and guide at times was…
Madagascar trip - Our driver and guide at times was really amazing as he really navigated us through all the bad roads and traffic. He was also gave us valuable insight to his country.
Driving to get from place to place just takes really long due to traffic and bad roads which we where aware off.
The local guides at each reserve where really super knowledgeable and a special shout out to Teddy at Mantida nature reserve who found the lemurs.

Our trip to Greece (Naxos, Santorini, and Crete) exceeded our expectations! Our local travel expert Julia from Somewhere We Know was wonderful. She was super responsive, helped us plan a wonderful trip, and helped when last minute changes came up (missed flight, changed tour start time etc...). All of the accommodations that were booked for us were beautiful and the tours/tour guides were informative, friendly, and engaging. 10 days in Portugal with Joel
My Travel Ladies (6 in total, all over 70) and I spent 10 days with Joel throughout Portugal, and we all felt it was simply excellent. I started working with Joel in August and nailed down our trip. We discussed sites important to us, where we wanted a guide, and hotel levels. His suggestions were spot on and we could not have been happier. I recommend him for his kindness, his communication and overall ability to meet our needs. Joel has a beautiful sense of humor that blended with all of us. My one wish is that I could work with him on our next adventure but, we all now feel Portugal is like a second home. Beautiful trip!

Rough Guides does an amazing job with travel planning
Rough Guides does an amazing job with developing the itinerary because they ask what your interests are, what are you interested in learning, seeing and experiencing. From there they develop an itinerary based on your travel desires. Our trip to England was to relive great memories from when we lived there in 1998-2001. And they put together a perfect itinerary for us. Jane, our travel consultant, stayed in touch with us regularly to ensure our needs were met and we had all the entrance tickets, train tickets and pick up times before we left on our trip. The trip was great and met all our expectations. And this happened on all other Rough Guides trips we have booked as well. So this was not a one off, lucky break for us. Thank you!

Wonderful experience
Maria was incredibly patient at working through a number of iterations of my itinerary on a very limited budget to make it as special as possible. Once I arrived everything was seamless and Maria kept in touch throughout my trip to check that everything was on track and whether I needed anything. All the people doing transfers and the guides were very friendly and professional, and the accommodation in Cusco was good. Highly professional service which facilitated me having a really memorable experience.

Greek Graduation Adventure
Julia from Somewhere We Know planned a truly amazing graduation trip for our family. She was thoughtful, friendly, and organized. Great experience of booking an organised trip.
First time booking an organised trip and it was a great experience, both in planning and booking and the actual holiday. Sunny from Rough Guides did an excellent job of helping us get the best out of 10 days in Thailand, visiting Krabi, Chiang Mai and Bangkok. She responded to what we did and didn't want to do, gave advice on weather and tours and ensured our daughter with Coeliac disease could be catered for at hotels and on excursions with meals. The hotels chosen for us were great with good service and amenities. Would highly recommend the service, particularly if travelling somewhere a little different or unfamiliar.

Trip of a lifetime - thank you Rough Guides
I booked a Kenya trip with Rough Guides and could not be happier with the whole experience! Kellen was a pleasure to work with on the planning - super responsive, extremely helpful and very patient with me when I wanted changes. The whole trip was seamless from our interior flights, transfers, camps and hotels, and our private safari drives. Sammy was our primary driver and safari guide. He was absolutely wonderful - friendly, knowledgeable, and always on time. He took excellent care of us! Our camp in Amboseli - Tortilas Camp - was perfect for us - great service and accommodations plus wonderful food (they were great at accommodating my vegan diet with delicious food). Our resort in Diani Beach - Sands at Nomad Beach - was also great. Our one full day there it poured! But we were still able to enjoy our ocean view on the fully covered patio of our room. Back in Nairobi, the highlight of our time there was our visit to the Elephant Orphanage and our private guide at the Giraffe Sanctuary - definitely recommend both! Kenya is a beautiful country with beautiful people. I highly recommend using Rough Guides to help plan your trip and if you can get Kellen, you will be very happy.

I paid for both a paperback and ebook Rough Guide Paris. Then I found out that the ebook is free if you buy the paperback. I sent two emails asking for a refund of the ebook payment but the refund didn't appear until I posted a bad review on Trustpilot. Our trip to Croatia was splendid. Each day was different and thoughtfully planned. We enjoyed varied experiences and the local guides and drivers selected by Mario were especially suited to our expectations.
Planning the trip with Mario was a pleasure- he was attentive to my questions and gave thoughtful answers to my concerns. He completely understood the type of trip I was envisioning, and went above and beyond. I can’t imagine a better guide. All the people in my group of seven raved!

Great 10-day visit to Morocco
What a great 10 days we spent in Morocco! We highly recommend Perfectly Morocco Tours, which we found through the Rough Guides portal, and specifically Aziz. We worked with Aziz via WhatsApp to build a custom plan for our trip: Marrakech, a day trip to Essouira, then Volubulis, Fez, Chefchaouen, Rabat and back to Marrakech. Aziz found intriguing riads for us, met us at the airport, set up tour guides in a number of venues, and did long hours of driving. The guides were uniformly interesting people; we had plenty of time for conversations with them and with Aziz that added personal texture to what we were seeing as tourists. We included several experiences at his recommendation; the visit to Chefchaouen, for example. Those turned out to be among the best parts of the visit. But wait, there's more! When a Moroccan friend recommended a classic cookbook (the paperback of which you can find for $250 on Amazon), Aziz took it upon himself to find a copy for us -- and he had it within a couple hours of arriving in Rabat (we're sure he didn't pay even a fraction of the Amazon price -- he declined to take payment). We decided we wanted to add a visit to Majorelle Garden on our last morning in Marrakech. Aziz got the tickets and told us the visit should take about 45 minutes. We like gardens, and said we would take longer. We were done in 45 minutes. Of course. Morocco is an intriguing country, and a major tourist destination. Even in late February, Marrakech in particular was jammed with tourists already, which can be a little off-putting. Still, the people we met without exception were friendly and helpful. Our experience was absolutely first-rate.
