Once a good place to buy late kickstarter editions

Preordered Puerto Rico Special Edition. Blog posts on website state the fullfilment of Puerto Rico concluded (March 16 post which I promptly archived in waybackmachine). Reached out to support, and 2 days after the blog post stating that fulfillment had concluded, support claimed that fulfillment hadn't even began. Reached out for follow up to state I never received my email for address verification, next response is that "most of the order was severely damaged and unable to be sold". If most of the stock was damaged and unable to be sold, then how is fulfillment complete? I tried reaching out for clarification, never received any response. Called number listed on company website, received no response. If the issue is accurate that stock was received damaged, why no communication to the remaining preorders? Why does the site say nothing about the issue. So much conflicting information and no path to resolution or communication

Additional info: my order currently remains paid for with no product in return

Update after TGS response:
Thank you for acknowledging the shortcomings of this issue. My rating will stand until the order is fulfilled (not using this rating to get a faster shipment just want to make sure things follow through before updating the rating).

4/17/26 - still no update on order after being told by support it would just be "a couple weeks".

Thank you for taking the time to leave this review. I am sorry for the confusion and frustration around your Puerto Rico Special Edition preorder.

You are right that the information you received did not line up. Our March 16 update should have made it clear that some orders were still pending because part of the inventory we received was damaged and had to be replaced. Instead, the wording made it sound like everything was complete. One of our follow up replies also did not reflect the actual status of your order, which only added to the confusion. That is on us.

We also should have proactively updated the customers still affected, rather than leaving you to chase us for answers. I am sorry as well that you were not able to reach us by phone when you tried. You should not have been left with conflicting information on a paid order and no clear path to resolution.

Your order remains active, and we want to get you a direct update from management with clear next steps. Please reply to your existing support thread and ask for management review, or contact us at customerservice@thegamesteward.com, and we will review your order personally.

Thank you again for calling this out. We are reviewing how we handle fulfillment updates and damage related exceptions so our public updates and support responses stay aligned going forward.

The first claim about missing Kickstarter extras was made in March, more than three months after purchase, and no photos of the items received or other documentation were provided that would allow us to verify it. In your March message, you said you did not want anything from us, but if that has changed and you want this evaluated, please contact our support team directly with photos of the items received, the box fronts and backs, and the contents. We will review that promptly. Without that documentation, we cannot verify the claim made in this review.

Is The Game Steward Legit? My Experience as a Collector & Small Business Owner...

Hey all,

I recently purchased over $400 USD worth of new Marvel United games from The Game Steward.

After nine days, I received a shipping notification and was excited for the delivery. Unfortunately, that excitement didn’t last long.

When the package arrived, I was surprised to see the shipping box had been custom-cut to fit the ~22 lbs of games flush, with only a single thin sheet of bubble wrap between the games and the box itself (pictured).

Unsurprisingly, damage occurred.

The large X-Men promo box—central to my order and purchased at more than twice the original Kickstarter price—arrived with two damaged corners and a damaged edge. I left the box sealed, as there’s a good possibility the internal plastic card holder is also cracked.

I immediately contacted The Game Steward, politely requesting an exchange. The damage was clearly the result of insufficient packaging, not carrier mishandling.

Rather than acknowledge the packaging oversight, they refused any exchange and offered a $13.59 partial refund—period. They stated the damage was not their responsibility, despite the lack of adequate protective materials. I insisted I’d like an exchange, and six days later, they’ve ghosted me and are now not even offering the token refund.

For some, this might seem minor. For a collector purchasing premium-priced items, it significantly impacted my enjoyment of the product.

What makes this particularly disappointing is that I’m also a small business owner. I understand margins, competition, and the challenges of operating without the scale of large corporations. But I also believe customer service—especially when mistakes happen—is where small businesses can truly differentiate themselves, even when it costs something in the short term.

I know others have had positive experiences with The Game Steward, and I’m glad for that. I’m sharing mine because I believe transparency matters, and because I hope the company course-corrects toward the strong customer service reputation it once had, living up to their claimed tagline of “Trusted Quality & Service”.

Just give me 2 minutes of your time!

Alright, so have you ever missed a crowdfunding campaign where you just wished you spent more time wasted on endless scrolling to see that new interesting board game you want to buy so badly? Or you just don't want to risk your money and wait 2 3 years until you get it (when lets face it, you can spend that amount right there and then on something else?)... WELL these guys have you covered and guess what, their prices are MORE THAN FAIR. stop wasting countless hours researching other vendors (trust me, this process can take a day or two and you'll end up confused). Spend your valuable money with them, you wont regret it and it does not just end there. they are not selling games (full stop) they are in the business of Customer Experience, and I am in the same field and have to admit something... they have just orchestrated what I call an orchestral symphony in Customer experience... now I don't understand the story behind the other reviews, but here is my story.

I can be very picky sometimes, and with FOMO I tend to send a couple of questions in one go since I an abroad and can call them easily. So i resorted to email. They were extremely professional and light spirited when I know others would have probably given up. (this was before the spring sale), then during the spring sale, FOMO kicked in bad. I rushed and placed an order. then a day later realized oh SNAP there was something else I forgot and emailed them about it, they responded immediately, but then I also found something else I wanted... Im telling you sales brings the best FOMO in people, and wihtout hesitation they supported. Now I hear you saying but this isn't special, we got the same support elsewhere... True BUT!!!

Yes a big BUTT!!!, again, remember what I said in the beginning "Orchestral Symphony in Customer Experience". The customer support team reached out saying they noticed that I pledged for Foundations of Rome Maximus edition and Roads of fortune expansion, where this expansion was included in the maximus edition and were wondering if it was a duplicate purchase or a purchase in error and offered me an immediate refund if it was purchased in error.

I am sorry folks but here I would like to challenge you. The reason I referenced orchestral symphony is because the have mastered internal communications between warehouse - sales - delivery and customer support. This is why I know I found my go to place for all kickstarter campaigns that I missed.

And yes I lied, its not 2 minutes but wanted your attention as anything more you would not bother reading ;)

Superficialità e scorrettezza commerciale

Ho acquistato un gioco a 120 euro più 38 euro di spese di spedizione, il tutto regolarmente pagato a The game steward. Arrivato il gioco in Italia il corriere Fedex mi ha chiesto ulteriori 56 euro di dogana perché il mittente non aveva indicato in fattura le spese di spedizione da me pagate e quindi le imposte calcolatemi in Italia sono risultate maggiori. Voglio segnalare questa superficialità e scorrettezza commerciale di The game steward a beneficio di altri utenti.

On our website we note in several places that if your destination country charges import taxes or tariffs, those are always the responsibility of the customer (and in multiple languages including Italian). Slow and Shady

Six weeks and they keep telling me "oh just 1-2 weeks more". Will never buy from again. Who knows if I will even get my $400 order.

Absolutely correct. I received my order of over $400 worth of "in-stock" items just eight weeks after placing my order, and with only three lies about its shipping status during that period! If this sounds like the company for you, choose The Game Steward! For my part, they lost a customer permanently. 1 star stays.

So far we are a month into my order for…

So far we are a month into my order for items that were in stock. Still no shipment and it may take another half a month to even ship out. They just blame it on a big sale they recently had and will get to mine in the order it was placed. Not very happy with the service so far. Ill update when I actually get my goods.

Other than the 2 month shipping time frame, this company has been great. Ive placed a few orders after this and they usually ship the same day. They take great care packing orders as well. Updating to 4 stars

Disappointing Experience with Damaged Shipment

I'm extremely disappointed with my recent shipment! Despite my special request for proper packing as it was international, the package arrived severely damaged. What's even more appalling is that the company blamed the transit process for the damage, rather than taking responsibility for their own packing mistakes. offering a mere 20% refund, leaving me to bear the brunt of the 80% loss due to their subpar packing. Unacceptable.

Be patient if your pre-ordering it will take time but, it's worth it!

I ordered a kick starter expansion that I needed to complete my collection. After looking every where else and not wanting to spend a lot of money on a used one. I pre-ordered it from the Game Steward. I was skeptical but wanted this item so badly that I went for it. It took one day shy of 6 weeks to get it but I got it today and I am THRILLED! I would 100% recommend The Game Steward for anyone to use. Don't pay scalper prices for used games on eBay. The price was reasonable and packaged very well. Also customer service was fantastic. Anytime I called for an update, I spoke to a real person. Never any automated menus to go through at all. My collection of Marvel United X-Men is now 100% complete thanks to the great people at the Game Steward! Thank you!!!!

Very bad shipping

I pre-ordered stuff worth $250 in early June. They told me it would arrive in the warehouse the following week. The week came and went. When I emailed them about this, they said they have a queue of pre-orders and that it would take until mid to late July to ship. Like 8 weeks after I placed the order. What??? I paid that much, and they couldn’t even expedite my order when I requested they do so. As a result, I got a full refund, which was the only good thing to come out of this (hence the extra star). It’s funny how they were quick to refund me in less than a minute, and yet I would have to wait 8 weeks to get my stuff. Crazy. I honestly have better experiences on eBay where a lot of the games are at least the same price as Game Steward’s and I get them much quicker.

One of the challenges with pre-orders is that we do not control when the publisher ships the games to us. We have already paid for them and have to go on what the publisher tells us on delivery, and sometimes they arrive later than expected.

When they do arrive in our warehouse, we work through thousands of pre-orders for the item in the order they were placed. That means customers who purchased much earlier (sometimes years in advance) are served first, and newer orders like yours, which came in just before the shipment arrived, come in order after. It is not that we do not want to expedite, but that we do our best to be fair to everyone who has been patiently waiting.

I am glad the refund process was quick and smooth for you. We will continue working hard to balance fairness and speed so that everyone’s experience feels worthwhile.

Vertrauenswürdig und Sicher!

Ich habe "The Witcher: Die alte Welt" hier vorbestellt und bin voll und ganz zufrieden! Nach der Bestellung erhält man regelmäßige Updates (insbesondere da es sich hierbei um eine Vorbestellung handelte). Auch der Kundenservice ist Top! Da es sich um einen amerikanischen Shop handelt und ich aus Deutschland bestellt habe, hatte ich ein paar Fragen und habe diese per Mail an den Kundenservice geschrieben. Innerhalb von ca. 4 Stunden bekam ich trotz unterschiedlicher Zeitzonen eine schnelle und passende Antwort! Auch der Versand hat wunderbar geklappt und das Paket war in einem Top Zustand! Jederzeit wieder! :)
