horrible experience from start to finish, I collected my car on pick up day and expected it to be clean, got there and it was covered in bird shit and tar marks, i complained about the state of the car, and I was told “its not as bad as your making it out to be” a couple weeks later my service light came on the car, even though it was agreed that the car would have a full service and MOT before it was handed over, after owning the car for only 2 months my back disks and pads needed replacing, I phoned up as the car was under warranty and was told “wear and tear” was very disappointed with the experience at this garage as I was recommended by several people, I would not recommend this to anyone.

Awful experience. I brought a car from them. It was riddled with issues, as soon as I got home I called them and they said they would send out the parts. 3 parts.(drivers seat belt, boot struts, and a key)After a week I still not heard anything. Then I've taken the car to the garage as It wasn't driving as it should. We then discovered that the car needed front arms as these where cream crackered. I then called them to which they apologised about the parts not being here yet and to their credit sent me £1000 to rectify the issues related to the front arms. Another week has passed and still no parts. I've rang them again to be told the same script. "They're on the way to you" Another couple days has passed. Then my car went into limp mode and engine management light on. Turbo faulty, engine miss firing, broken petrol pump, broken boot struts. Drivers seat belt doesn't retract. Broken key. These where all the issues we had in 2 weeks. I'm now waiting for the garage to do the right thing. I have been reasonable and said I would swap it with another car on he's website but everyone I picked had been sold but weirdly enough the same cars that are sold are still up for sale on he's website and auto trader. He has said he is not willing to reject it, but would fix the car. I wouldn't trust this garage to replace a inner tube on a push bike let alone try to fix the numerous issues this car has.Its quiet clear from other reviews as well, they don't check they're cars before they put them out. They do bare minimum and to top it all of,they advertised the car with a very rare feature it was supposed to have. And after clarifying with main dealer that's not the case. Service manager is rude and useless

Update - I would like to correct several inaccuracies.

The vehicle was purchased on 7 May, not “a few months” before the engine fault developed. The initial faults—including the key, driver’s seatbelt, boot struts and concerns that the car was not driving correctly—were reported on 8 May. The worn front suspension arms were reported on 12 May, and on 29 May the vehicle developed a serious engine fault involving the engine management light, limp mode, turbo failure, misfiring cylinders and a fuel pump fault.

I acknowledge that you contributed £1,000 towards the suspension repair, and I have never disputed that. However, that payment related only to the suspension arms. It did not resolve the other faults that had already been reported or the later engine issues.

I also dispute the suggestion that this review is malicious. It reflects my genuine experience and is based on the timeline of events, which I can evidence.

Finally, following the publication of my review, my partner received a telephone call in which she was told that unless the review was removed, you would no longer help with the vehicle and that we would be “stuck with the car.” This further undermined our confidence in how this matter has been handled.

You don’t run a company like this and you definitely don’t try to apply pressure to a young woman in the hope she will take down a review that is honest and fair.

This company is highly professional and all throughout the buying experience it was friendly and competent, I have no hesitation in recommending this garage

Bought a car from tones, it’s now off the road due to faults it came with, I’ve been in touch with them and they’re ghosting me. Court is the only way to get justice for their treatment, I would recommend everyone to shop elsewhere.

I purchased a car from Richy at H Tones Oxford Garage, and it was handed over at the roadside on Spring Garden Road — not from a regulated business premises. The vehicle was faulty from the outset, and despite clear evidence, the business failed to take responsibility.

Shockingly, I have voice recordings of being instructed to lie to the warranty provider — a clear breach of trust and ethical conduct. I was then expected to drive the faulty vehicle over 2 hours back to Hartlepool for repairs, despite serious concerns over its roadworthiness.

When I sought a fair resolution, I was insulted with an offer to buy the car back for £6,675, claiming it was “market value.” This ignores my legal right to a full refund under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, which protects buyers from misrepresented or faulty goods.

I now hold two witness statements from previous buyers, each detailing serious issues with H Tones Oxford Garage — further evidence of a troubling pattern of misconduct and regulatory disregard.

To make matters worse, H Tones Oxford Garage has an active County Court Judgment (CCJ) with an unsatisfied record, publicly available via Companies House and credit registers — a serious red flag for any consumer.

I have now been without a car for over four months, due to the unacceptable practices at H Tones Oxford Garage.

I am pursuing formal action and sharing this review to inform others. Transparency, safety, and fairness should be non-negotiable when buying a car. This dealership made me go through the small claims court to get my cash deposit back and financial ombudsman office to get a sale cancelled for there faulty vehicle they sold me and left me with a vehicle in storage sorn off the road for nine months . Worst car buying experience in over thirty years and shocking way to treat customers

Great car dealer straight down the line and a real pleasure to deal with a world away from a very recent really bad experience we had with a big brand car dealer who will "move me closer".
