Is this a uhaul scam? We have 4 uboxes that were picked up on Tuesday and on Saturday we recd this call. They said one of our uboxes is to heavy abd we would need to empty some contents, well we are 24 hours away at out desti ation. They said they tried to call on Friday and yes we did not receive any calls. They said the only other option is we get one more ubox and they could move some things to that unit? Is this legit or trying to make xtra money? They never said there was a weight capacity and how would we weigh it ouselves?

The people that work in uhaul do the best they can do. Now I can only speak for the store off south Campbell in springfield mo. However when the one in charge is the bad apple and can go in and change anything she wants. My advice would be Don't deal with Tammy. I have complained to corporate and they dont seem to care that she is stealing money from customers. I pay for 247 access. But most of the time im locked out. Pay attention to that cause Tammy wont refund not even if you specify the error on their part. So when I go in I dont pay Tammy get all your receipts. Tammy will Blame her errors on other employees when ive been there over a year now and shes the only one that messes up my account on purpose. Then like clock work everytime I check her on her poopiness she does something to me dirty. So store is good ask for anyone but Tammy. Honestly its shallow on how uhaul listens to tammy but the hole of all the customers opposing her Disposition and attitude as well as ive seen her treat the other employees. You would think company would see the one error over the many thats not. So I give one star because I have to but tammy dont deserve one star. However the rest of the employees deserves a 50 star for fixing all her mistakes and having to put up with ignorance. Im upset with company because I can pay on time but they cant reimburse what tammy takes from me. Now you ask why dont I just move my stuff. Well because I have cancer and the other staff there is awesome and help me as much as they possibly can.

My recent U-Haul reservation was…
My recent U-Haul reservation was changed without my consent to a location in another city, immediately putting me over 30 minutes behind schedule. When I arrived, the facility wasn’t even open. I then spent another 30–45 minutes trying to get the lockbox code through the app.
When I finally accessed the truck, the dolly I had reserved was missing. I was forced to drive back to the original city to obtain one, adding another 1–2 hours of delay. Because of issues entirely outside my control, the movers I had hired could no longer wait, and I lost both their services and the money I had already paid them.
I am a disabled combat veteran and physically unable to lift heavy items on my own. Reliable equipment and precise timing are essential for me. I returned from overseas on a very limited timeline specifically to move from North Carolina to Ohio and will be returning overseas shortly after Christmas. These failures caused significant financial loss and left me unable to complete my move.
What made this experience even more disturbing was the response from U-Haul afterward. The company’s response was uncaring, unapologetic, and showed no meaningful consideration for my disabled status. Kimberly Ceasley, identified as a Marketing President Assistant, stated that she “knew what I had been through” as a disabled combat veteran, an assertion that was both blatantly untrue and deeply offensive. Rather than focusing on resolution or making things right, she repeatedly referenced company policies, despite acknowledging that the situation was entirely U-Haul’s fault. At no point was there a genuine effort to help or to provide appropriate compensation, including a full refund.
The lack of accountability, empathy, and customer-focused problem-solving, especially toward someone with disabilities and critical time constraints, is unacceptable. I trusted U-Haul during a critical moment, and that trust was not upheld.

Charged extra for giving them more gas
I picked up a truck at a 1/4 tank of gas and returned it with 1/2 tank. I could only laugh aloud hysterically when I got the finally bill charging me for $2.60 for going over the mileage. What a bunch of crooks.

This place sucks. I would say its at least good for holding your stuff but even thats not true. They routinely only have 1 person working and you can count them being slow or rude no matter what.
They will assume you didn't pay the monthly fee and lock your storage, and even when you show the rude lady at the front you did pay, she'll tell you how the system they have in place doesn't have a reason listed for the lockout.
Oh and finally if you dont lock it "properly" (although you been locking it the same way for literally months) they will double lock it for whatever reason, I can only assume its to teach you a lesson... so now you really are out of luck.
Basically this place is rude and will lock you out of your unit for sometimes no reason and sometimes for a made up and unexplained reason because they only have one person who works at the slowest possible pace.
Stay away unless you need to torture someone by recommending them here.
I moved to South Carolina
I moved to South Carolina. I told them I was going to need a 5x8 enclosed and drop it off in SC. I specifically asked if there would be any additional charges and I was told no as long as I dropped it off at Uhaul in Simpsonville. I had this 5x8 for 4 days and dropped it off to be billed 901.00 because it was a one way. I could have bought a used trailer for that much. I spoke to Cody the GM of the Cocoa store who refunded me 465.00 but no more. I specifically said I was told there would be no other charges and his response was that employee does not make mistakes. so an 111.00 invoice became a 901 dollar invoice. Poor customer service and deceitful business practices.
Uhaul storage on Mainway
Uhaul storage on Mainway. I went to my locker the other day and the amount of ice throughout the entire premise was baffling. Basically lucky I didn't fall due to the total disregard for the safety of their customers. There was no salt and or sand put down to ensure the safety of their customers. This is not the first time it is a recurring problem.
Badly run business
Fired me, right before Christmas. Even though in the handbook, it states if you make this mistake, you will just get a written warning. Jokes on them though, the way they run their business is a joke, I feel bad for the customers at this point.

I wish I had looked at the reviews before I rented a trailer. I rented online and was to pick up in Wallace nc. The trailer I booked was not there but the had a larger one for 30 plus dollars. I declined because of price so they told me that I could have that one for the same price as smaller one I booked . I picked up trailer and was called three times asking me if I picked it up. When I called in to extend the rental they couldn't find the contract anywhere. So I called every day because I extended the contact and still no one could find when it was rented. Luckily I had the agreement in my messages. I took the trailer back. So I call the area manager and he said he was going to go check it out. In return I don't get a phone call but got charged for the larger trailer. It was more money than I had intended to spend on a trailer rental. I talked to manager again and he said he would fix the problem but it would take approximately 2 weeks . Two weeks later I still haven't received my money. I called him back yet again and he didn't answer . He did however rudely responded with a text saying he told me that it would take two weeks and with holiday will be longer. He said he would check on it. Well I called him back the next day because he didn't get back to me. He blocked my number and so I called regional manager and found out he only put in the refund after the last text. I also found out he charged me for having to clean a trailer I returned to him spotless. So I had to call the regional manager again. They thought I only had the trailer for one day and the good person that I am, I told the truth about how long I had the trailer. He took what he wanted from my card. And now I'm still waiting for my money. The manager that started all these problems is Richard Owen . Be cautious when dealing with this person. You're given misleading information, money is taken from your credit card without authorization from you. Then you get the run around when trying to get things straight. Overall bad experience. Still waiting on resolution. Not a very professional manager.

Quoted us a final price of $275 for a one day rental box truck- when my husband picked it up we were charged over $300 immediately. Upon return they stacked on another $300+ in fees. Then 3 months later they said we accumulated a ticket and charged another $100+ without showing us what the ticket was for or proof that we even got one.
Don't trust them. Check your vehicle very carefully.

The initial gas level was incorrect on the contract. It was actually 1/8, not 1/4 (which I failed to notice) and I was threatened a $30 plus gas charge plus gas despite having driven only 17 kms in 2 hours and refilling the tank with 10 L ($15) gas. Though I should have more carefully checked the initial gas level, I trusted they would have accurate records. I feel like it's a scam! I was also charged an extra $1 environmental fee and $1.50 Passenger Vehicle Rental Tax which should have been in the initial charges.

Overcharging scam
Rented a small truck with 3/4 tank of fuel in it per the gauge and record. Retuned the unit with more fuel than I left with (7/8 tank). When I retuned the truck, was informed I would see the return details in an Email even though I asked for an invoice at that time.. Email received showed 5/8 of a tank OR about 1/4 shortage and was billed their inflated fuel figure for their made up discrepancy. $20.00+.
2nd transaction. rented a trailer. Specifically asked would I receive a credit back if I brought back early? Answer was yes.
Again asked for an invoice at that time and again was told that is not how we do it.
Received the invoice email, low and behold was billed for an extra day.
Customer service ( cannot reach the location directly) indicated that the management has 3 days to respond.
I will not deal with this location again, 29100 US 27, Leesburg, FL.
This sounds like a scam that may be shared with every customer . You can overcharge everyone but NOT everyone will catch it or question it.. That adds up to a lot of money at the end of the month/year.
Shame on you and your lack of ethics.
Uhaul 2000, rue Notre-Dame Est, Montréal
The Uhaul located in Montréal, Québec, at 2000, rue Notre-Dame est is absolutely horrendous. The customer service is atrocious. The staff swore at me, and threatened me. One of the rude managers called the police on me with false accusations. I have a civil matter ongoing against them. Do not go there, they are just awful.
Go with Penske!
I reserved a truck and trailer 2 weeks prior to my move. An agent called the day before pickup to let me know I’d have to drive an hour in one direction to get a truck and then 2 hours from there in the other direction to get the trailer and they won’t cover your fuel usage or personal vehicle miles to get to either. I called Penske and the price matched U-Haul and had equipment in town. The agent with Penske stated they get these kind calls all the time. U-Haul you should probably change your business model. Like another review I read, I would’ve given U-Haul zero stars if it would’ve let me! They just lost my 1600 dollars.
My experience with 3rd party dealers…
My experience with 3rd party dealers has been horrible. I requested to book a one way trip to one city 30 minutes out. They accidentally booked my drop off point in the city I was departing from. The 3rd party dealer told me I could call later and change the drop off point at any time. The office was closed and couldn't change my drop off point. I called three times and each time they direct me to a different branch all of them could not make the change I wanted. I ender up having to drive to back to the original city.
