Awful forum

Awful forum. Moderators came across as incredibly hostile, arrogant, and rude. They seemed to think that all businesses function the same, and when challenged with nuance, they could not respond.

I've experienced forums like this before, where people tend to be on a power trip. I do not recommend UKBF.

Fab website, helpful users

Handy forum with lots of users with superb knowledge and advice. Went on here with a complex question and was inundated with people happy and willing to help, advising me on both legal aspects and also advising on best courses of action.

The rac are lyers

The rac are lyers. Never come when they promiss. Only provide onward travel for short distances. Not to your planned destination as sild to you. If you have to hire a car they only pay £35 a day and you csnt hire a car for that. They gave fewer patrols and so always claim to be busy. Dont join if you want price of mind go elsewhere or just get a local garage when needed .

Biased and discriminating

Note: I have posted this review multiple times over the last few years, but I keep finding it has been deleted and have to repost it.... that should tell you something too about them.

Sadly I have to agree with what others have said below.
The forums seem to be very biased and discriminate and the moderators have a bad attitude.

Certain people are allowed to promote themselves unabated (such as moderators and I assume friends of the owners and moderators), yet if the rest of us so much as includes a link to a website, it gets deleted and we get accused of self-promotion and even banned, even if you are linking to a blog post that directly answers the question or when the site you link to is clearly nothing whatsoever to do with you.

I had hoped that I'd be able to look into your specific case, but you've elected not to share any of your contact details with us.

I think you may be confusing us with Sift Media, the previous owners of UKBF. We took over the company in 2022 and have extensively changed our moderation team and processes. We also haven't had any reviews from you posted against our TrustPilot account since we took over (provided you've posted them from this account).

We have a 0 tolerance policy on self-advertising on the site and shut it down whenever it occurs and our teams observe it. This has included closing threads made by our moderators. The reason I wanted to follow up on your specific case was so that I could see what happened. Our moderators are taught to ensure that all self-advertising is removed and we regularly audit to ensure this is happening. If there is a case where our moderation team have seen self-advertising taking place and has not taken action, I will personally deal with it.

Additionally, we now have a multi-step moderation system that ensures that bans are only issued after multiple infractions on the site. Again, if you have experience of someone being banned by a member of our moderation team without fair warning from our moderation systems, this is also serious and I will need to address this.

I appreciate that you are concerned that action will be taken against you if you step forward, but our staff members at BDG are completely unrelated to the moderation team and I can assure you that none of us would interact with your account. If you'd like to discuss anything you've seen taken place I really would like to allow you to voice your opinion to me directly. You are a member of the community and clearly, one that cares about its quality. That is something we value highly.

Guarantors

The forum assisted in finding a solution to our companies problem.
It was an advantage to exchange information with other users. Hopefully, if I have to use the site again, I will be more converse with how it operates.

Isn't a forum about open discussion?

I asked a (what I thought was a pretty straight forward question) to the forum about making short term bank accounts for testing purposes. I had a few responses from the founder of UKBF which did point me towards some help.

But there moderator had little to no useful information on the matter and made sure we all knew it. There were many other comments just saying my questions doesn't make sense or seems illegitimate. instead of simply giving advice/ and or asking for clarification.

The whole point of a forum is for there to be discussion with the purpose of helping one another, besides the founder, it seems that isn't really the interest of its members.

This was my first post to the forum so bear that in mind with this review, however the fact that the moderator acted in opposition to how I'd expect, I feel this review is justified.

EDIT to RESPOND TO REPLY:

Yes 'a number'.

That number being painfully low for a forum is what I was mainly disappointed with, but on top of this, the moderators of the community were the least helpful, while 1 or two members might reply trying to help, having the supposed 'moderating' team giving the least helpful and most condescending replies really doesn't promote open discussion.

While there might be some members who actually have interest in helping people, my review is based on my experience with UKBF and its staff, as as mentioned above, I wasn't too chuffed.

Edit: they replied with a snarky comment about it being self promotional which it wasnt, and justified the ban because it was a few years old thread! It was still on the topic of meetings in virtual reality, but it seems the moderator did not like evidence to prove him wrong. Disgusting! Do not reccomend this biased site!

Constant and daily email spam despite keep unsubscribing to newsletters, marketing, etc. Appreciate you need to keep your database warm, but listen when your guests asks for you to not keep sending them.

UKBF is a friendly community which provides excellent informal guidance on how to manage just about any aspect of your business.

At UKBF, there are many highly skilled experts in all the core aspects of business - accountancy, marketing, law, etc.. There are also some great specialists who advise on more specific matters such as IT, search engine optimisation (SEO) and website development. But UKBF is primarily for the discussion of those higher business matters which can really help with managing your business as a whole.

UKBF's free membership package can be a valuable resource for any business. They also have paid memberships for extra resources.

Used to be helpful but now it’s seems a bunch of business owners and accountants have agreed (but not very covertly) to promote their own and their counterparts services rather than give any advice in the forum.

Yes it can’t be helpful for some things but the scaremongering that goes on in order for people to panic and choose one of their conglomerates solutions is just cringeworthy.

Uncomfortable experience

If you read the comments below ,you will find a key word :Bully .That's what happened to me as a newcomer to this website .I had a very uncomfortable experience , people in the forum are very subjective and arogent in answering the questions.I don't know it sell subscription.I would not even use it for free.I leave this forum just after asking my first question.Yes you might get one piece of useful information ,but you have to read though tons of unfriendly messages to get there.I would rather Google than asking questions there .

You should spend time in educating your team and members to answer others' questions in a more respectful manner ,instead of talking to me .In the forums I asked a question something like "I don't like apples ,is there anyway I can avoid it ",then all the answers come to me like "There is no way to avoid apples ,you have to deal with the fact ", "apples are good ,I am happy with apples ,you should eat apples too, decent people all eat apples ","Why you don't like apple ,is there something wrong with you?","What?You don't like apples?Then you can't win my business" These answers look to me not only subjective but also illogical,not to mention little respect showed to others who are different.
