COCKROACHES IN THE ROOM AND NIGHT EVACUATION WITH A BABY – A Nightmare Experience

Review: ⭐ / 5 (Terrible) - June 2026

I AM NEVER COMING BACK. Finding three cockroaches in less than 48 hours is an UNACCEPTABLE hygiene failure, especially when traveling with a 1-year-old BABY.

Here is the exact timeline of events, backed by photographic evidence:

DAY 1: Found a 4 cm cockroach inside the room. We had to request a deep clean of the room, which was performed the following day.

DAY 2 (Afternoon): Found another cockroach, this time dead, in the property's common hallway.

DAY 2 (Evening): Upon returning to the room, the worst shock. We found a second giant 5 cm cockroach directly ON THE BED.

At that point, given the clear evidence that the situation was out of control and the room unsanitary, we demanded an immediate hotel transfer. We were forced into an improvised night evacuation, packing up a young child in the middle of the night to be sent to the Jabeque.

Positive note: The on-site staff was understanding and tried their best to handle the emergency.

The central management and Customer Service, however, proved to be completely inadequate. They dismissed the logistical and emotional toll caused to a family with a miserable 20% discount voucher for a future stay, hiding behind the excuse of the "Mediterranean climate." If you are looking for a peaceful and clean vacation for your children, look elsewhere.

I don’t know where to start but I need…

I don’t know where to start but I need to write a review before anyone else books here whilst sitting in the hotel room !!

Myself, mum and dad are staying at the Vibra Caleta Playa and we have experienced nothing but rudeness and uncleanliness.

We checked into reception around 3pm after a 6am flight over and an hour bus journey very tired and exhausted, we were asked to show passports so I handed our passports over for the woman to take them and then she went to the other side of the desk to speak to a guest at the hotel in a towel dripping wet shouting at her in Spanish, they continued chatting for 5 minutes whilst we stood there waiting. Another receptionist came over and asked for the same and I pointed to her colleague as I explained we were waiting for her to finish her conversation. This woman then got the passports from her and started inputting information into the system. We were shown where everything is and our room on a small map, then paid our tax charge each night in a lump sum for the week. My dad asked the senior member of staff for a receipt and she said “I don’t understand” my dad was asking for proof of payment which is fair but she frowned and said the paper that was originally given to him was the receipt. We said ok but it didn’t make sense to us as it is the paper we were given to begin with, it was also in my name and not my dads so he asked that it was redone in his name and she grabbed the paper spoke in Spanish to her colleagues in a fast manner and in a mood. My dad then received the paper in his name and said to her ok if this is a recipe I guess I’ll take it as I need proof of payment and she smiled with a remark “ so you get everything for free do you?” If she can say this then she understands English pretty well, nasty woman. Once we started to move away from the desk after we received our hotel key another senior member of staff called us back over in a foul mood again and asked us to sign papers. I still don’t understand what the papers were for as she said she “didn’t understand much English”. My dad said he thought they were for us to sign to show that we were staying there and if we get into any bother we will be fine but it didn’t make any sense. The senior member of staff insisted that I ticked a box, but I said I didn’t want to and she said I had to or I wouldn’t get wifi, I had to read what I was ticking which was to do with promo in my email and by text and I said no, she started talking to her colleague in-front of our faces in Spanish sniggering and having a clear attitude. I then said I needed WiFi to connect with everyone back home and that WiFi should be included anyway and she said no, once I said I’ll tick it but I will be unsubscribing to anything yous send me as I don’t want that in my mail box or via text she pulled out a marker and crossed out my tick in the box and said “fine happy” 🙈 I’ve never met a more rude and less mannered woman especially whilst working/ serving me!!

The experience then got worse… we arrived in our hotel room to be greeted with a broken patio door which did not lock, a broken toilet seat, limescale on our shower head!!! Cracked drinking glasses, an hard bed in the living room, a hairdryer which shows electrics on the wall!!! Hazard, broken kitchen cabinets which are hanging on and an tv which has two or three English channels after requesting for this to be done as we spent the first night with Spanish channels. A workie managed to get us the three English channels however they break up and glitch and we can’t watch a full movie properly. We complained at reception about the room and how disappointed we are after paying the money my dad did for it he expected a lot better like on the jet 2 website pictures and it’s nothing in comparison!! After asking is we would like to move to the apartment beside us (which is the exact same- dirty, old and broken cabinets) we refused to accept it and said we would want something better but the manager refused. We have now asked for Jet 2 help to get us out of here as it’s left a bad taste in all of our mouths!!

Other things to note now that we are waiting on our holiday rep getting back to us to help move- self laundry service, all pool beds are most likely reserved by around 7am, you need to get up super early to secure one as everyone has the same idea. The breakfast and dinner options are VERY limited, a few options but not many. I noticed a toddler licking a spoon and putting it back into ice cream tonight and it has put me off eating at the hotel now as no one is supervising the food!

After this whole experience and only being here 3 days now… I will be telling everyone I know back home to avoid this hotel 100000%!!! Save your money and go somewhere nicer or to a different hotel if you are just looking for a chill in the sun or kids holiday Menorca is a place to be.
