VP Smart Removals Reviews 

We recently employed VP Removals for a domestic move in South West London. While there were some positives, overall, the experience fell short of expectations and I would hesitate to recommend them.

On the plus side, the team were punctual and worked hard throughout the day. Their work ethic was clear, and they got the job done efficiently. However, it often felt like speed was prioritised over care – to the detriment of our belongings.

My PC screen was not properly wrapped and arrived with a cracked screen. A lamp was also smashed. Some rugs and curtains were stuffed into boxes rather than folded neatly, resulting in the need for professional dry cleaning. These are basic packing standards that should have been met.

When I raised concerns, sourcing compensation proved difficult. The company has a £250 insurance excess, meaning they will not cover or replace anything valued below that amount – which is odd given that many household items fall under this threshold. They offered a gesture of goodwill (£180), but this was far from sufficient to cover the damage caused.

There were other elements of the experience that raised concerns. At one point, a member of the team invited my young children into the removals van for a drive. While this was likely meant as a friendly gesture, it was not appropriate from a safety perspective and is something I would strongly discourage. Another mover asked what I did for a living – a question that, in the context of the move, felt like an unnecessary encroachment on privacy.

Finally, it’s important to note that their insurance only covers damage reported within 7 days of delivery. If unpacking takes longer, as it often does in busy households, you’ll be left out of pocket if you need to replace any damaged items.

On balance, while the team was friendly and hardworking, the lack of care in packing, subpar handling of damages, odd privacy missteps, and limited insurance coverage suggest there are likely better options available.

Friendly and helpful from start to finish. Nothing was too much trouble. First day loaded up, second day drove 250 miles to storage facility dropping off special collection of plants with my brother. Helpful and efficient attitude, good time keeping.

Then Milan and Jimmy were absolutely fantastic, driving early the next day from London to Liverpool to meet me there. It was a really long day for them and after dropping things off at my new flat, they drove across Liverpool to my friend’s place where I am storing a lot of stuff, then they had to go up a lot of stairs there.

It’s not easy moving from a place after 25 years there, even though I’d thrown out a lot, there was still a lot to pack and move, plus I hadn’t realised how emotional it is leaving a place, having it go so smoothly was a huge help. This company are not just super efficient, but just really kind, nice people, not forgetting Natalie who was always patient and kind on the phone whenever I spoke with her. Highly recommend this company, worth every penny!

The stress of moving home cannot be downplayed, especially when being evicted by owners selling up. A good mover makes all the difference. VP Smart were referred to us by friends who had used their services and had a good experience. Their rates were comparable with several Which-recommended movers I also quoted, with the advantage of 4-hour minimum versus 8 for the Which recommended ones. Making arrangements with Ana was clear and straightforward, and she was flexible to our moving requirements as moving date came closer and we had a clearer idea of how much we had packed up. The movers arrived early at 7.30am and clocked in at 8am as pre-agreed. The pick-up location was very awkward - rear fire escape stairs to a blind single lane alley with residents needing to come and go with their vehicles all morning so trucks had to move each time to make room, but the movers did so with no fuss. Our property was handled with care, and large furniture was taken apart as required - expertly disassembling and reassembling Ikea furniture seems standard for professional movers today! We're grateful for VP Smart for making a stressful day relatively painless and would happily use them again.

Ana and the team at VP Smart Removals were excellent from start to finish. Bearing with me as our exchange was slightly delayed and managing to fit us in just a few days later. The whole process was seamless end to end from the team that showed up to pack and box everything with care to unloading and putting everything into the required rooms in the new house. The team were careful and courteous. Would highly recommend.

Absolutely exceptional service. We moved out of a tricky house, with a tight stair case and a loft (so three levels) the gents from VP smart removals didn't even break a sweat. All for a very fair price. Highly recommend.

From the moment I was contacted till the last screw was placed back into my wardrobe I was amazed.
Anna was so kind and thoughtful, talking to her was like I had known her for years so helpful and clear and compassionate. Moving is a very very stressful time but she ensured I was comfortable and kept informed about how the day could could play out and what to expect.
