Don't rent movies from Vudu. They must have very low technology. I started the movie and paused it one minute in and went to watch the rest of it and they wanted me to rent it again. When I contacted them they said I watched the whole movie. Very disappointed. They have a cool app. But no customer service with any means of knowing if you have watched what you rented accurately. Too bad. Lost 5 bucks

This review was originally a one star. It changed. Long story short: If you want to get actual help from VUDU call the support number and speak to a human. I'm pretty sure the email contact option goes to a 486 computer somewhere in the Crab Nebula.

I have been using VUDU for many years and have been pleased with the quality. It came installed on my Oppo blu ray player so for a while it was the best choice for me since I could stream through the Oppo and benefit from the great picture offered by that player. Recently I purchased around 6 movies that were being advertised in a UHD sale. I received SD versions of them. I contacted support two weeks ago and have yet to hear back from them. Since then I've been sending the same message every day. Customer service is non-existent. I will be trying to contact Fandango soon to see if I have better luck with their parent company but I doubt it will do any good. Looks like I'm going to be using another streaming service. Unfortunate. I liked VUDU. But I'm voting with my wallet. And telling many people to stay away... Actually just buy physical media. The image and sound quality are better and you don't need to worry about streaming speeds or internet connection. Also you OWN something. Not just overpriced ones and zeroes.

It's awful. I have yet to finish a single movie. It's always constant buffering and unable to play the current selection BS!! Very disappointed it is absolutely terrible ridiculous the techs or who ever is in charge of bug fixes can E.A.B.O.D. they call all do that for that matter this thing blows giant 🍆

There has been quite a few movies we had owned/bought on Vudu, then we didn't watch them for a while and the next time we went to watch it, they were just gone. Tried to give back the Inside Out kids movie with special features and all we got back was the short that was in the features. It has happened to several of movies so now we only use Vudu for things we already have on there or free stuff. We can never seem to get any cooperation to get this fixed at all.

Absolutely terrible. I have confirmed 20 Mbps internet and Vudu is to only of my streaming services that buffers continuously throughout every movie no matter what I select as playback bandwidth!

Disappointed - we were watching a movie and there were12 minutes left and it just ended! saying our time expired. Really! If we are almost done watching I think it should be able to play to the end. The time appears to run out when paused for a bathroom break.

This review is from someone who has been using VUDU since 2013...so about 8 years, now. Therefore, I speak “from experience”, as they say.

1. VUDU is no different than any of the other online movie rental services (Amazon, etc.), in that once you rent a title, two clocks start ticking: first, you’ll normally have 30 days to BEGIN watching your movie. Secondly, once you’ve started it, you’ll have 24 hours from that point to FINISH watching it. Pretty simple, and as I say, this is the model followed by all of the online retailers I’ve dealt with. VUDU should not be called “thieves” by people who can’t grasp how a Service works, that’s just wrong and I felt obligated to set the record straight. Oh, and by the way, if you’re renting a movie for the kids or grandkids, a nice side-benefit is that within that 24-hour “once you’ve started it” viewing period, they can watch it as many times as they want...and we know how kids love to watch the same thing over and over! (Works for the adults, too, but we don’t normally want to see the same movie more than once in 24 hours, so this benefit’s mostly for the kids).

2. If instead of renting, you elect to PURCHASE a title from VUDU, there are some real benefits, vs. buying a movie on disc: no one can ever break into your home and steal your movies (because they’re stored safely in The Cloud); they’ll never “go bad”, and just refuse to play (unlike the many times I’ve experienced old DVD’s that gave up the ghost and would no longer play - or were so badly scratched, they became worthless); you have access to your collection from anywhere in America, so whether you’re traveling far from home, or visiting the neighbors, you can enjoy a Movie Night on any web-connected TV, tablet, phone, or computer, any time you want.

In closing, VUDU will work fine if you have a 30Mbps or better internet speed (on your Smart TV - and to have less than that is very rare these days), if you take a moment to read your rental period info, and if you don’t feel like renting OR buying, they also offer a frequently updated selection of movies and tv shows that are completely FREE to watch...as long as you don’t mind watching periodic commercials.

So please, read ten or so of the many negative reviews here on TrustPilot, and you’ll discover that most of them are from people who frankly didn’t take the time to read how the service works, and then complained because they were unhappy with their results. So it's been three years since I've been a part if the Vudu community and I have to say I've enjoyed every minute of it.

How it all works is quite simple you get a code from a purchased Blu-Ray, DVD or 4k and you redeem it at it's stated website. Then pick vudu and its always worked. Or you purchase a title from there selection. They also have free titles to watch that if I'm being honest they aren't the best, but considering I use it to purchase Movies I love it.

Over the pass 4 years I've been an avid movie lover trying to grow his collection and vudu has made it very easy for me too do that. With Disc to Digital and a lot of digital codes going online really cheap. It's been very affordable to grow my collection of movies.

The quality of Movies on Vudu is really good too. The picture and sound in normally top tier and if it's not the best thats the studios fault not Vudu. Vudu gives you the option to purchase or redeem movies from the studios who release them. If the quality of the picture or sound is bad then it was the transfer that the studio did not the service.

Also I noticed that a lot of the issues that people have with vudu are the rentals. Now I've only rented one movie off vudu before and I didn't have an issue. It told me how long I had to watch it and I finished it before that time. If you decide to rent a movie tonight with a 24 hour time window but then you choose not to watch it until tomorrow night and it cuts you off thats on you. If you choose to rent and then wait for the last minute to watch it that's nobody's fault but yourself.

So overall, I do think I understand the service very well and over time have grown a grand understanding of how this whole online streaming thing work's. It doesn't take a lot of brain power to understand it and the more time you put into it. The easier it becomes. So I hope you my review caused any ease if you were worried about Vudu and yeah, I hope everyone out there is doing well. Take care

They're owned and operated by Walmart. Those saying they're a rip off are probably too young to remember video stores where you'd go in Friday night and rent 5 movies and a game of 2 and procrastinated taking them back because they didn't get to all the movies or that game was so so so fun! They take them back to late fees of $25 or $30! Like $75 or $100 now! I was working a minimum wage job back then @ $3.35/hr!

Scammed me out of 5.99 but money is money. After renting the movie tennet and pausing it at 42min and falling asleep, tried to play it again in the afternoon the next day and it had expired.... Tried to call and they of course did not care and told me about the 24 hour period to watch it etc and I tried to argue that it had not been 24 hours when I attempted to resume. Got a robotic response about 24 hour period and nothing she can do

VUDU will NOT refund for PLAYBACK ERROR. Paid for a movie I cannot watch. They do NOT care! $2.79, now they are going to lose over a hundred dollars from me this year.

I wished I would have read the reviews before I started using this app, they continuously charge me for movies that they can't stream and then only give me 24 hours to watch them to which I never get to watch I am suspending Vudu from all my phones and TVs!

Do Not Use Vudu TV. They are the biggest crooks out there. They will scam you for your money. As a first time user we paid $15.32 to rent the "the little things". And we stopped the movie at 1hr 21mins and went back the next day to watch it and it saying we need to rent or purchase it again. After calling support to see how we can fix this and resolve this their support team told us that there wasn't anything they could do. They couldn't extend the service for us to at least finish watching the movie nor could they refund us for not being able to finish watching a $15 movie that we couldn't even finish. They they acknowledged that. So then of course I escalated it to a supervisor and literally after waiting for 8 mins as soon as this foreigner got on representing the supervisor he went straight into saying the same thing the other guy told us. He was even listening to us nor was he trying to reason and help us out. Then afterwards he tried to say thank you for calling us if you don't have anymore questions have a good evening.... What kind of service is this... rude, disrespectful, and doesn't try and work with their customers.

VUDU insists upon shoving an ad from Astra Zeneca who has IGNORED the plight of AMERICAN and the world by raising prices to ridiculous highs so most people cannot afford them without needing help or making decisions like...buy my meds OR eat...AND their Chinese virus vaccine is causing blot clots and MANY countries in Europe have STOPPED USING THE VACCINE. This ads should be REMOVED because the people who watch VUDU are the very ones who cannot afford their medicines OR the risks with their vaccine!

The time you have to watch the movies you rent are redicious! 24 hours isnt long! I literally just got cut off from a movie I rented just because the time was up. I thought it would at least keep playing as I was watching it! I'm done wasting my money on vudu!!! Obviously just look at the ratings!!!!

EDIT: I had a guy message me on Facebook (yes he took the time to find me and message me lol) but anyways.... yes I was upset about not be able to finish the movie but to give vudu 1 star was uncalled for and this guy made me realize that (even though he was an ass lol) but low key kind of right! Its not vudu's fault that I didnt finish the movie in time! So I'm changing my rating. Thanks stranger!

My wife and I have been members of Vudu for many years and own a lot of movies that we purchased through Vudu. Everything was fine until last Christmas, that is when we ordered a movies that was billed a one of the Top 10 Christmas movies. The movies turned out to be a B grade murder movies for $14.99. My wife and I were furious and I disputed the charge on my credit card. Vudu has suspended our account and requested our credit card statement showing that we did make the purchase and that we received the credit. We sent that information to them at least two times and our account is still suspended. They have one person in this department and resolution, if it ever comes, depends on when this employee feels like doing something. When you talk to tech support they can do nothing and have no knowledge of anyone else you can be transferred to. You should stay away from this company because they can take the movies you have purchased at any time they like and you are powerless to contact anyone to talk to about it. It is a very poorly run organization who doesn't care about customer satisfaction or resolving disputes in a reasonable amount of time.

I have been a faithful and loyal customer to VUDU! Love how seamless it is. It reminds of my old days with Blockbuster. Straight simple forward business.

You either rent the movie or buy it. I always buy and when I do I always buy HD. AMAZING PICTURE QUALITY. 10x better than I have ever seen.

I watch on my phone when I’m traveling. Just wish I could watch in other countries. Maybe one day you will!!!

If I can put negative zero as a review I would!!!!!!!!!!! They accept your money perfectly fine until you have to play the movie it’s error messages for hours by the time you play the movie it starts skipping pausing until it come to a compete stop! This app is almost like a scam ... it should be banned from streaming period! SMFH

vudu is garbage. ive gotten double charged on every purchase for at least the past year and i just realized. they say its a mocrosoft issue and microsoft says its a vudu issue. either way im not getting my money back. i will never use vudu or recommend it to anyone.

Deceptive practices and poor customer service. I have 3 separate issues. First, I was forced to make a purchase or lose expiring credits so I bought 3 movies. I have never watched any of the three and asked Vudu for them to be deleted, but also be provided with an equal credit so that I could buy movies I actually want. This has been done for other customers but I was told no. Second, I was using Vudu’s disc-to-digital service and accidentally select SD instead of HD on a movie. Vudu allowed me to delete that movie and receive a credit, but Vudu did not adjust my allotment of D2D titles for the year. When I followed up with customer service, they refused to adjust the allotment, even though I was originally told it would be automatically adjusted. Lastly, I asked for my complaint to be escalated and have heard nothing in 4 days. It’s reasons like this people are leaving Vudu for Apple/iTunes and other competitors.
