I purchased £559 worth of cassette players and accessories from ‘wearerewind’ on the 11th April. Order number 15623
Their website had a constant rolling message across the top of their main page stating:
NOTE TO CUSTOMERS RESIDING IN TH UK: ALL OUR ORDERS ARE SHIPPED ON A ‘DELIVERY DUTY PAID’ (DDP) BASIS, SO YOU WILL INCUR NO CUSTOMS DUTIES OR ADDITIONAL CHARGES UPON RECEIVING YOUR PARCEL.
I would not have purchased but for this message.
Fedex notified me just after midnight on the morning of the 15th of April that my parcel was held up pending payment of import duty and charges to the amount of £126.52UK.
12 email exchanges followed between ‘Wearerewind’, Fedex and me between 12am midnight and 15:21pm. On the 15th of April.
Rather than explaining my feelings, I offer the following email transcription between ‘wearerewind’ and myself so that potential customers can judge for themselves if the customer service ‘wearerewind’ provide would meet their requirements. They don’t meet mine. I only wish to trade with sellers who recognise and understand what an inconvenience for their customers is, customers who set out to buy products or services and don’t expect their order to generate a load of work for them.
‘wearerewind’ just piled on the instructions like it was my mistake not theirs.
If the roles were reversed, I would have apologised, paid and immediate refund and said leave it with me:
To ‘wearerewind’. I placed the above order from UK. Your website clearly stated that I will receive no customs duties or additional charges. Fedex inform me that my order is held at customs awaiting payment of £126,52UK import duty and charges!
Please cancel and refund. Thankyou. J John
Hi John. I am sorry for the inconvenience caused by these unexpected customs charges. We will investigate this situation with the carrier to understand why these fees were applied. In the meantime, please pay the requested amount and send us a copy of the receipt. Once received, we will refund you the full amount of the duties and charges.
To ‘wearerewind’. Thank you for your response, I’m not willing to pay the charge. Your website was clear, no charges. Shopping should not be this difficult. There was no need for me to write this email, I’m very busy. I have asked for a refund.

Could you please forward us the email you received from FedEx? This will help us resolve the issue with the carrier.

We are contacting FedEx on our side to manage the return, and we ask that you also contact them to confirm your refusal. Once the parcel is returned to us, we will process your refund.
To ‘wearerewind’. I certainly will not, as I said shopping should not be this difficult and your responses are making it very difficult. I already attended to about 7 emails today on this issue and this is my last. (Actually, it was 12 emails) I will not contact Fedex, the seller is responsible up until delivery, it’s down to you. If it’s dumped on my property without a signature, I will not take responsibility for it so I suggest you contact Fedex quickly. I won’t be replying to any more of your email’s ether. Get your customer support together. This is very bad.

I like the simplicity. There are no unnecessary features, and each one works perfectly. Beautiful case and thanks for the rewinder (the pencil tells me, that you were users in the past). The only thing i wonder is, how long the akku lasts and where do i get a new one?

I was just so happy to find a product that met all my needs and really surpassed my expectation on audio quality. The design is so modern and sleek.
One cool addition i think would be to add in RCA jacks somewhere. maybe even hidden on back or side. but this does not make or break the product for me.

An 80s Tape Player for 2026
Great service and a really good product. The tape player arrived very quickly and the packaging was high quality to match the product. Happy to recommend We Are Rewind. I grew up in the 1980s and had a Walkman, which I loved. The batteries didn’t last long on it and disposing of batteries was wasteful. So in 2026 being able to use a great little player with a rechargeable battery is a lot better. The sound is good. The build of the player is solid and a great colour. I went for the black and gold one. I’m now enjoying playing my old cassettes and will try the recording function soon along with the Bluetooth headphones option. So far I’m plugging in my Ollo Audio wired ones and everything sounds great. Thank you.
