Wood Cut-to-size Reviews 

I found the customer service here to be exemplary. I wanted a piece of wood cut to a specific size, and whenever I emailed (or sent an instant message on the website), John replied straight away.

I ended up ordering a bespoke piece in the evening, but the following morning I wanted to cancel my order. John again replied instantly, and the money was back in my account within 30 minutes. I feel very grateful that I was treated this way, as I think a more unscrupulous vendor might have denied the refund given the bespoke nature of the product.

If in future I do need a bespoke piece, I will certainly be returning here.

I always try to buy from small businesses, so when I found this company, I wanted to give them a try. The website is relatively simple to use, and the choice of wood is good. The problems began as soon as I placed the order. The only confirmation I received was from PayPal. So, no invoice and no confirmation from the company itself. The delivery times, customer contact, and service were also very poor.
The website states a 4-week delivery time. I had to wait 6 weeks. I chased twice through the chat service on the website. The first time, I was told John was packing, and the second time, I was told that a van had broken down, so John had to go and retrieve the packing supplies himself. No apology, no proactive contact. I also sent him an email, but I have yet to receive a reply. I finally received my order today to find that, despite ordering a matt varnish finish, it has not been done, and I have a sanded piece of wood instead. I hope that John will employ someone in the future to manage his customer communications, as I am currently unable to recommend this service.

Quite a good ordering process let down by poor after sales communication and a so-so product.
Ordered a pretty expensive walnut table top and made it clear during ordering I was willing to pay for top quality planks. Had to chase as the estimated lead time came and went; took another couple of weeks after that. Delivery service was pretty great, can't fault that. I receive the top and seemingly it's perfect, but then see there's a 5cm split that runs right up to the end of one of the planks. It's on the underside so cannot be seen from above, but end on it's very visible. Its depth is over halfway into the plank. Anyway, I brought this up with John (I assume the owner) in an email and said it's fine, but did he have any recommendations for me to DIY fill it or ensure it doesn't worsen. Did I get a response back? No. So a two star review. There's no way factory QA would okay a table with this flaw but I was willing to accept it had I received anything like a polite "sorry, here's a tip to help"

What a shame. As an interior designer I was delighted to have found an incredible and independent joiner who could cut anything into any size in any wood. What a joy. Until I actually had to deal with them. My saga has been going on for three months. I first ordered a single table top which looked good so I ordered a small side table but it was damaged on arrival due to not very sensible packaging. I've had multiple promises that it would be collected and a new one sent out over the last two months yet nothing happens. It's utterly frustrating and not a way to run a business. I would have sent so much business his was as I custom make most of my clients' furniture. Sadly not to be. The only way I can now sort this out is through the small claims court which is a real shame.

Ordered a custom round table top from Wood Cut to Size and while the checkout experience was easy, everything since then has been a disaster.

Firstly they didn't email me or let me know that our order had been dispatched which resulted in me not being home to accept the delivery and it sitting outside in the rain for a few hours until I could make it home again.

Then when I opened up my order I discovered they hadn't cut it to the correct size and it was out by 10mm which meant it wouldn't fit and would need to be recut.

I emailed them to let them know about the mistake and requested they arrange for it to be collected so they could correct their mistake, they agreed to this but didn't provide any info regarding when that collection would take place.

I followed up at the start of the next week to request this info but heard nothing back, so I called them the following day and was assured it would be collected either that day or the following day.

It's been four days since that phone call, no collection has been attempted and we have had no further communication from the company to let us know what is happening.

Its been a very frustrating experience and is made worse by the fact that the table top itself is beautifully made (albeit the wrong size).

Ordered an oak shelf (over 3m in length) to site on my kitchen wall (original Victorian brickwork above and plastered wall below) to finish it off properly. Absolutely thrilled! Excellent product! Cut exactly as I wished, finished as requested, perfectly straight. Looks just fabulous! Wish I could add a photo in. Took a long time to arrive but I wasn’t in a rush, expertly packaged! Thank you. I would definitely recommend!

Excellent customer experience including dealing with my specific requests very quickly. Product is beautiful and of great quality. Would fully recommend if you want a bespoke table for a good price.

We ordered a small square pine table top for our kitchen. The first top that arrived was round, but this seemed a genuine mistake and a replacement was sent within a week. When it arrived I measured one of the dimensions just for a sanity check which was correct and then proceeded to varnish the table top to match the existing kitchen bench.
We had ordered a sanded table top, but I suppose I should not have trusted this to be clean, because with the first layer of varnish I immediately noticed some patches that wouldn't stain properly, very annoying, but never mind I thought at that point, my mistake.
I then started preparing to mount the table base to the top. At this point it became apparent that the top wasn't actually square - one dimension was 1 cm smaller than what we ordered. To make matters worse the top wasn't very flat with a pronounced curvature across the width.
Finally I pushed the table into the corner of the kitchen next to the bench. This top was ordered at a specific thickness to match existing bench seating. Turns out not even that is right. It's a small difference but I noticed immediately that the table top seemed thicker, and sure enough, that dimension is not what we ordered either.

I emailed about this and to arrange pick up the other round top they send in error - this has been taking up space we don't have in our hall for more than 2 weeks now. In their response their merely discussed shipment of the false top, not a single comment or apology about the fact that the delivered goods where not really what we ordered. Really, really poor.

Ordered a few bits and pieces from shelving to table top.

Communication over email was great with quick replies and patience with queries.

Order can take time however the end product is spot on.
