And don't full for the government trade in. It doesn't matter they pocket the money and still over charge you.

Had a new front door fitted today by Michael and Craig. Two nice chaps who came and got straight on with job no messing. Very professional service neat and tidy job cleaned up everything wouldn’t know they had been. Very pleased with the work - 5 star job lads sorry Milo kept you on your toes lol.

After several calls from the office, I agreed to a home visit for a solar quotation.

The salesperson arrived 15 minutes late, which was understandable due to local roadworks. However, the presentation was very disappointing. Rather than using a laptop or tablet to explain the system and calculate potential savings, he produced a well-worn sheet of paper with a basic spreadsheet, which he barely referred to before putting it away. He then drew rough diagrams on a lined notepad to explain how the system worked. It all felt unprofessional and poorly prepared.

When we went outside to discuss panel, inverter and battery locations, he offered very little practical advice and didn't appear particularly knowledgeable, relying instead on repeatedly telling us how good the system was.

Back inside, despite us asking several times for a quotation, he continued repeating the same explanations and asking if we had any more questions. After an hour and a half, my wife had to leave, and he said he couldn't continue unless both of us were present. We asked him to email a quote instead.

Oddly, once my wife had left, he did give me prices for two systems after a quick calculation on his calculator. He then explained that these were only the standard prices and that, had my wife still been there and we agreed to sign up that day, he could have offered a better deal. This gave the impression that the visit was focused more on securing an immediate sale than recommending the most suitable system.

As promised, no quotation ever arrived—unsurprising, as he never even asked for my email address.

Overall, the sales approach felt outdated, overly focused on pressure selling, and far from the professional consultation I was expecting.

Found the work was done well, cleaned up after and really happy with the end result! We even offered to clear up but the gentleman wouldn't allow us!

Persistent calls, despite having 0 interest and explaining that I no longer want to be contacted. Level of harassment is intrusive and unprofessional.

A really polite and swift experience. An affordable price was given and happy with the work whilst supplying the guys with tea! Can’t ask for more than that!

My elderly father was cold-called and talked into buying high-value loft and solar battery works by You First Home Improvements Ltd.

The experience has been very concerning. The works included loft insulation/spray-foam-related works (£9k) and installation of an external AlphaESS battery system (£6.5k). This seemed excessively high.

After payment, we asked the company for basic completion documentation: electrical certificate, commissioning paperwork, DNO notification/approval paperwork, battery model/capacity/serial number details, warranty registration, installer accreditation details, user instructions, SuperFOIL product details, waste disposal evidence and clarification of the “Certificate of Removal” provided for the loft works.

Despite repeated written requests, the company has not provided the completion pack, or responded at all.

We also raised specific concerns supported by photographs, including apparent missing fixings/bolts from the battery wall bracket, cabling that does not appear properly secured/protected, old batteries still remaining in the loft, untidy/incomplete-looking loft insulation, and a lighting circuit tripping after the loft works.

The “Certificate of Removal” provided for the loft appears to be a company-issued certificate rather than an independent Building Control certificate. We asked the company to clarify exactly what status it has and what standard or scheme it relies on, but have not received a proper response.

In my opinion, this is not an acceptable way to treat an elderly customer after taking full payment for expensive works, especially where a domestic battery/electrical installation is involved.

I would strongly advise anyone considering using this company — particularly for an elderly relative — to reconsider and certainly not to pay in full until they have received and checked all documents, including written scope of works, itemised invoice, cancellation paperwork, electrical certificate, commissioning certificate, DNO paperwork, warranty registration, installer accreditation details, product manuals and any promised certificates.

At the time of writing, we have reported the matter to Citizens Advice / Trading Standards and are seeking confirmation from AlphaESS about the battery installation and warranty status.

Update: You First Home Improvements Ltd has replied here asking me to contact them directly. For clarity, I had already contacted the company directly by email, including at dan AT youfirsthomeimprovementsltd.com, and had forwarded the previous correspondence and photographs. I have now contacted them again following their Trustpilot reply and await a substantive written response to the outstanding documentation and safety/completion concerns.

we had our loft foil wrapped last November, not a particularly tidy job, and we are still waiting for the certificate we were promised, despite many, many phone calls and messages to the company, we are constantly being told oh you have not received it yet, will look into it and get it sent off directly, yet nothing comes either by post or e-mail. what makes it worse is we could probably done the job ourselves, it was only the promise of a certificate that we were encouraged by them to have the work done, certainly would not have them back to do any more work,
How many times do we have to contact you, probably already been 25....

Hi few days ago windows fitting , the job was done well . The first home improvements are good , a bit of expensive but job well done

The foil loft insulation (apart from giving the loft extra insulation) has really smartened up the loft space. No more dingy dirty roof felt to look at. Feels much cleaner and nicer up there now. They also pointed out a broken roof tile which I hadn't noticed so I had them clean repair and weather proof coat the roof. The difference from moss covered to clean is amazing.

From initial enquiry to the end of the work, communication was excellent. The surveyor that came was polite and very knowledgeable of the solar system and battery set up. Allowed me to choose the best product and system for my needs. I was more than happy with the price we agreed upon.

Installation was prompt and achieved in a day and the app and system were fully demonstrated to me. Aftercare supplied 8 weeks post-installment to make sure everything was running smoothly and that I was comfortable using the app. One very satisfied customer who would highly recommend this company

We had 4 windows replaced very pleased with them, terrible weather on day everything was left clean and dry

Happy with the roof coating provided. Little hassle as was completed quickly. The moss left on the my patio is being cleared after a review of the job.

Very friendly, polite workers ( even kept me up to date with arrival times). Really impressed with the work and the aftercare has been fine. They even offered to fix my back gate!

Since writing the above, I have one complaint. I am still waiting for my certificate of spray foam removal being done. It took a long time to get the bags of old foam removed from the property, but allowance was made for being done over Christmas period. In this case, how long does it take to issue a certificate? Numerous telephone contact has resulted in no action taken. I would take careful consideration before using this company.

Punctual, polite, didn’t make a mess. Good after care, came and check the work after. All in all, an excellent job

We booked this company to install electric solar energy panels, inverter & battery, before they became You First Home Improvements. After a deposit we had to wait over a year due to our own personal circumstances.
During this time the company were in regular contact to see how we were doing, and waited patiently for our circumstances to improve.
The day before installation I was reading all the negative reviews for their previous brand name and called Andy, our area manager, to cancel and even loose our deposit as I was very uneasy about this. He explained all that had gone on and why they re-branded, and directed me to all the reviews on Trustpilot for the new name. He also went well out of his way to visit us to put our minds at rest. Let's face it, they would have been better off if we had cancelled and that was that.
On Installation day all went really well, and only took about 4 hours to install everything. There was one hitch with our main fuse as the amp wasn't big enough, but they sorted it all out in a few days and kept us informed all the way.
All in all, it is all up and running now and saving us money, even in this weather 😊
I am so happy I didn't cancel because of those bad reviews, the staff were very caring and polite.

We are very satisfied with today’s installation by Matthew Wick and Andy Oconner.
They arrived promptly and commenced work, straight away. Inspite of the constant rain throughout the installation, they soldiered on in high spirits.
They did an amazing job and cleaned up thoroughly afterwards.
The windows and door look amazing and we would thoroughly recommend F1RST HOME IMPROVEMENTS every time.

I'm not sure about this and wouldn't recommend them - they have tried to charge for work far more for something that did not need doing ultimately and pressured into buying (protecting beams inside that were ~9% moisture content which was missold - its not needed anywhere near at that rate). The work was done in half hour too, which isn't enough time to complete it either.. They also have not provided any certificate after weeks of completing a separate and completed job (and also did not for that job remove all the foam and damaged plastic lining in the roof too). It's really poor.

I am happy to change this review if/when things are rectified. Too many things are adding up that makes me recommend to others to stay away.
