Found them online via Google Search and sent a service request via their website long after closing hours. They responded first thing the next morning and said they could fix it while I waited. Justin is clearly experienced and provided great insights on how I can get more life out of this laptop. As small business owner myself, I appreciate his quick response and his affordable pricing. I am extremely disappointed with the service provided by this company. I placed an order for a laptop on Sunday, July 28. As of today, Wednesday, August 8, I have yet to receive the item. Although I was given tracking information on Monday, August 5, there has been no update or progress on the delivery. This situation is highly concerning, and I am left wondering if I have been scammed. The lack of communication and delay in fulfillment is unacceptable. I strongly advise potential customers to be cautious.

ePower sells refurbished laptops. I bought two from them: a Lenovo T440 ThinkPad and a T480s ThinkPad. I bought them through NewEgg. Both laptops were "Grade A" condition. This means they were in pristine condition. No scuff marks, scratches or blemishes. Also, both my laptops had batteries that had high charge capacity. In addition the BIOS/UEFI had been updated.

ePower really does a good job on refurbishing these laptops. I can truly recommend this supplier as a competent vendor.

I installed Linux Mint 20.3 on the T480s and OpenBSD 7.0 on the T440. Windows users may question the sensibility of such a move. However Linux and OpenBSD come with mathematics software that just isn't available on Windows at a reasonable price.

What works on these laptops? On both laptops suspend and resume work. WiFi and ethernet works. The USB mouse works. Printing and scanning work. Sound and video conferencing work. On OpenBSD only Jitsi works and it is not easy to share your desktop. On Linux Mint Zoom works as well as Jitsi. Most of the F1 through F10 keys work.

In general, Linux and OpenBSD (and FreeBSD) work best on Lenovo ThinkPads. However it takes time for the developers of these projects to integrate drivers for the video cards and the WiFi. So you are best advised to buy a refurbished laptop that is a few years old. Brand new ThinkPads are expensive and certain features may not work under the open source UNIX systems.
