This review details my 90 year mother’s experience of dealing with this company.
UW cold-called Mum last year. She thought they were her existing energy provider (Scottish Power). They persuaded her to switch to UW (and give them her bank details). But she had no intention to switch - she was OK with her existing provider.
She cancelled the contract with UW a few days later. However, UW continued to debit her bank account. She contacted her bank which refunded the erroneous debits from UW.
We thought we were all done, but a few weeks later she received a demand for £13. We queried this with the UW helpline. Apparently the £13 relates to a SIM card (a product “bundled” with the UW contract) which she never received.
We’ve disputed the £13 and sincerely hope that this is finally the end of the matter. Obviously, we can’t recommend UW based upon this experience.
To UWs credit, they responded quickly to this review, and agreed to cancel the erroneous £13 charge. Thank you, Nin.
