This was a blast!
Action packed from the beginning until the end. Sometimes very challenging, mostly fun and beautiful. The guides were over the top with preparing all the food & clean up, watching for your safety and knowledgeable about the country and it's culture. Getting to know the people we traveled with was fun and added to our experience. The time we had in New Zealand was well managed and we didn't miss much because of the weather. There was always a plan B. This was a once in a lifetime experience for us and hope to have a twice in a lifetime experience! Maybe more:)

Our second trip with Active Adventure was to Peru. We did the Capybara (family Adventure trip). While no children on the trip our other companions were great. It was well organized and the guide was a master at logistics. We had special guides at different segments of the trip who were knowledgeable and very helpful. The pre-information was very detailed and thorough. The experience itself was amazing from the Amazon to Machu Picchu - Lake Titicaca. Accommodations were lovely and the food great. It gave us a great insight into the Peruvian culture and diversity of the geography. We highly recommend it.

Active Adventures delivered a bucket list-worthy experience across New Zealand's South Island. The 8-day trek had us backpacking, kayaking, hiking, jet boating, and biking through fantastic scenery and highlights of the South Island. The small group (5 adults plus our family of 4) were superbly guided, fed and entertained by two wonderful Kiwi's - Kaleb and Ruby. There is no better way to pack in an adventure like this (and I regularly do 7-10 day expeditions in US national parks). I'm already checking out their Patagonia adventures!

I travelled with Active Adventures to the South Island, NZ from 8-21 April. Our guides were outstanding as was the itinerary with many stops to hike in the national forests which are subtropical rain forests. The best meals were prepared by our guide Holly who is a gourmet chef. The best place we stayed was the Braemar Station on Lake Pukaki. Both guides shared a wealth of knowledge regarding Maori legends, flora and fauna. I highly recommend Active Adventures for their professionalism and attention to detail.

If you are an outdoor adventurist and enjoy traveling, then I would highly recommend Active Adventures. They offer trips to the Himalayas, South America and New Zealand as well as other spots. I have had the pleasure of being on two of their trips to South America and was not disappointed with either trip. They have you staying in first rate accomodations, eating great meals, being lead by the knowledgeable local guides and offer a wide variety of activities. And they do all this for a reasonable price. Their office staff is very helpful and quick to answer any questions you have. I would highly recommend Active Adventures to anyone looking for a great adventure.

In 13 days Active Adventures me and my fellow travelers to experience natural, cultural and historical beauty of the North and South islands. Their attention to detail, safety and fun cannot be overstated. I have traveled with numerous travel outfitters and they are exceptional. You will not be disappointed.

I joined the Kauri and Takahe tours ( 5 days on each to see both islands in the short time we were there.) with a bit of trepidation because I am not the most athletic person although I would try. NZ had been on my bucket list for years and they exceeded our expectations. I loved the fact that we saw and learned and did things that we won’t otherwise be able to do if we did the usual bus tours. Our guides (Andy, Jo, Pim and Emma) are all very attentive and encouraging (maybe a bit of a drill sergeant in the more difficult hikes! - in a good way). They catered to our needs the entire trip and the showcased NZ beautifully. It is an amazing country anyway, the place and people.
Initially, I felt like it was too pricey but since I did not spend much on food or drinks anymore and I couldn’t shop because I was pleasantly tired at the end of the day, the price was not too bad after all. In fact, I spent my NZ dollars at the airport on the way home. Until next time.

The two week trip was well planned with excellent food and lovely accommodations. There were no glitches or problems. Our fellow travelers and two guides were positive and fun.

Spectacular hikes all over the South Island; great food, knowledgeable guides. We had a wonderful time. Recommended!!!!!

If you are into active vacations and want great guides, great food, good accomodations and do great adventures if both the North and South Islands Active Adventures New Zealand the company for you. We did 5 days on the North Island and 14 days on the South Island concentrating on hiking na d we had great times.

My trip with Active Adventures was excellent. Kelsey and DK were so thoughtful, knowledgeable and passionate about sharing New Zealand with us - it really made the trip something special. I loved the smaller group set up and that we covered so much ground and saw such an amazing variety of all that New Zealand had to offer. It certainly was a trip of a life time! Thank you Active and especially DK and Kelsey! :)

Guides were enthusiastic, informative, helpful and well organized. Food was excellent. Hikes were not as challenging as I had hoped, so be sure to read the good descriptions that are provided with each trip.

Fantastic trip.This is my second trip with AA and I recommend them to everyone. Last Year I went to the South Island; this year I went to the North Island. Both have beautiful views and are different in their own way.

If you are looking for a trip where you not have to worry about a single thing and want to experience a trip of a life time - Active Adventures is your go to vacation organizer. Everything is so well planned. I felt in good hands the minute I signed-up. I traveled solo and had a blast with the group. I knew it was going to be good but it exceeded my expectations. It will not be my last trip with AA for sure

This trip was amazing and so well organized! Our guide was born and raised in the Galapagos Islands so he had a lot of knowledge as well as out of the way spots for us to visit. I debated between a cruise and land-based tour and I'm so glad we decided to stay on land with this tour group. We were able to experience the culture every time we went for a walk after dinner or when there was a street festival. Our guide took care of the kind of details that would have taken us a long time to negotiate, leaving us with more leisure time and excellent dining choices. The trip itself was almost unbelievable: we swam with penguins, sea lions, turtles, rays, marine iguanas and even docile sharks during the several snorkeling trips we took. Hiking and bike riding also exposed us to other animals and microclimates on the islands. We had our 2 teenage kids on the trip and they loved every minute. I highly recommend Active Adventures tours if you love the outdoors and like meeting similarly-minded people.

Active Adventures is an excellent choice for epic adventures. My New Zealand Rimu 14 day adventure exceeded my expectations. Beautiful scenery, great itinerary, and above all excellent guides and food. A great combination of hiking, biking, sea kayaking, and interesting locales.

Everything was taken care of as advertised with a quiet efficiency in a manner that made the experience most enjoyable and very comfortable. I whole heartedly recommend Active Adventures to anyone seeking a truly first class experience filled with memories that will last a lifetime!
