We went on both the Tapir and Tortuga tours in December 2018 and can honestly say that the best trip we've ever taken was to Ecuador precisely because of going with Active Adventures. Ecuador is breathtakingly, hauntingly gorgeous on its own, but having experienced its highlights together with a knowledgeable team leader made everything more meaningful. None of our questions was left unanswered. We felt that our safety and enjoyment were a priority but even better, we could plainly see that the guides loved doing all of the activities as well. No one was "phoning it in." We are looking at going to many more amazing destinations with Active Adventures; we keep recommending this outfitter to all of our friends who like to travel.

My wife and I did the Condor trip with Active Adventures in January of 2019. We are in our early 60's and avid hikers.

Patagonia is a place of rare beauty and diversity- deserts, forests, glaciers, ice fields, rivers, and colorful lakes. The remote and pristine quality may be marked by the ability to drink right from the flowing rivers.

Guides and local guides were helpful and made the trip better. The trip was well-conceived and planned. The accommodations were just right- not too fancy; not too rustic. We only carried a full pack two days- the rest of the time day packs sufficed. The refugios were comfortable and I liked my hot shower every day.

We saw plenty of condors soaring in the sky above, penguins, and sea lions.

The Active Adventures Rimu trip was a life changing emersion into the South Island of New Zealand. Our guides Simon and Ruby were professional, personable well organized and a pleasure to interact with. Ruby is a fantastic cook, we shared gourmet meals even in remote locations. Simon shared his knowledge and local folklore which added another dimension to our travels.
I am a seasoned, world wide traveler, this experience exceeded my expectations. We hiked, cycled and kayaked all around the South Island while taking time to visit local bakeries and bird refuges. This is a MUST DO experience for anyone seeking an active vacation in a breath taking environment. Every little detail was addressed by Active Adventures, resulting in a flawless experience of a lifetime. I am already planning another adventure even though I have only been home a week!

Our Rimu trip in New Zealand with Active Adventures was amazing. We have been wanting to go to New Zealand for years and it was all we had hoped for --- and more. This was our second trip with Active Adventures and we just love them. The guides are so knowledgeable and fun and the trip is filled with such a great variety of adventures.

Active Adventures has it all figured out! The guides are friendly and professional, and extremely knowledgeable about the culture, history, ecology, etc of everywhere we went. I always felt very safe on all our activities with our guides as well. The activities were the perfect amount of fun & challenging, with a bit of relaxing sprinkled in as well. It was a fabulous trip!

The trip is thoroughly planned. The guides are very knowledgable and nice. I had an excellent time with Active Adventures in New Zealand.

We did the Tortuga trip with Active Adventures in December 2018. It was a fantastic trip! We explored the islands in and out of the water. There was plenty of opportunity to snorkel and hike. We even found time to relax. :-) We learned about the culture, history, plants and animals of each of the islands. Staying on the islands rather than on a cruise ship added to the authenticity of the trip. Our guide Pepo, was wonderful. He always made sure that we were prepared for our activities and did his best to make sure we got to see and experience everything we came for. I was nervous snorkeling in the beginning, but he made sure I felt safe and midway through our trip I didn't want to stop snorkeling. We loved it and would recommend this trip. It is an experience of a lifetime!

I just returned from the Active Adventures New Zealand Rimu trip. It was better than I had hoped! The tour was very well organized, the accommodations were good, the food wonderful. I was traveling alone, and felt very welcomed in the group. Most importantly, the scenery was spectacular, and the activities, although sometimes a challenge, were always fun.

The Active Adventure trip my family and I took was excellent. The guides were most attentive to every detail. We were well cared for.
The itinerary was well thought out. We were always doing a great hike/bike/kayak or traveling to the next adventure. New Zealand is a terrific place to visit. This trip allowed us to see a whole lot of places in the South Island in only a week! I doubt anyone could cover as much ground by themselves.

Hard to imagine a more perfect adventure with the best guides. Extraordinary attention to detail, great food, the best of the best trails, someone deserves a medal for putting this together.

We went heli-hiking, jetboating, sea kayaking, camping, hang gliding, luging, bungee jumping ... - and still had time to just kick back, relax and enjoy some patio therapy. I was there with my two daughters (young 20's) and we all had a great time, and the guides kept the itinerary and the whole group of about a dozen having fun. This was not as fancy a trip as I've had with others companies, but the accommodations and food were fine - and the guides (Jo and Andy) were as good or better than any other active travel vacation guides that I've traveled with.

Active Adventures aced our first trip to New Zealand! Enthusiastic guides, an awesome itinerary, quality food and lodging, and great hikes combined to provide us with an unforgettable experience!

Top notch adventure travel (virtually all inclusive) tour company that I cannot more highly recommend!

I took their New Zealand South Island Rimu trip and added on the back part of their North Island Kauri trip.

The guides were fun, insightful and always anxious to please, with MJ often preparing some of our excellent meals. Both Liana and MJ knew a lot about the local history and plant life. Up north, Jo and Andy worked double time to make our trip special.

Each day we did at least one epic adventure, be it hiking along part of a scenic trail, regular cycling or mountain biking, even some kayaking! I loved how there was such variety! I never felt pressured to keep up when I was the slowest, which was nice and also one of the benefits of having two guides (one in front and back).

I liked how Active was able to cherry pick all the best adventures to showcase New Zealand.

I’m looking forward to my next Action Adventure trip and my only regret is that I didn’t make the time to do the full North Island tour.

Our trip to New Zealand with Active Adventures was one of the best vacations we have ever had. New Zealand is absolutely spectacular. Active Adventures took us on some amazing hikes as well as biking and kayaking in beautiful places. Active Adventures has great relationships with the lodges and other guide companies they use to facilitate different facets of the trip. The food was excellent and diverse dietary needs were easily accommodated. We would travel with Active Adventures again in a heartbeat. We plan to try some of their other trips in the future.

The Takahe 5 day trip with Active Adventures was outstanding, beginning to end. It was not cheap, but the price reflected the quality of everything. The itinerary was perfect for my wife and me. The transportation, food, and lodging were all excellent. Most of all, our guides were top-notch. They took care of just about everything so that we could just enjoy our vacation.

We've just returned from South America which consisted of two adventures 1)-Jaguar ultimate Peru Adventure ,10 days
. 2)- Tortuga ,Galapagos Land &Sea Adventure , 10 days My wife & I did Remu, New Zealand trip with Active Adventures 2017and were so impressed by Active that when we read about the adventures in South America ,we booked the trip. I can now honestly say that when asked at our farewell dinner on all 3 active adventures by the guides "what was the high light of the trip?" My response is " When you meet your Active guide to start your adventure and until you leave to return home , there is nothing to worry about." Hiccups happen in life as they will on any trip, here's where the guides really shine . From special dietary needs , hotel accommodations ,and any thing that pops up ,guides work their magic . While I'm on the subject of guides ,these men & women are top notch, they're knowledge of the land ,water and everything you witness on a tour is 5 stars. If a company hires guides with theses qualities ,it say's in my books ,from the top all the way down to our mule sherpas ,"Active Adventures will be booked for my next trip". I'm very proud to recommend this touring company to anyone that wants a trip that is off the charts ,first class holiday .

Simply fabulous! Active Adventures gave us the trip of a lifetime to New Zealand. Guides, food, activities, and service all first rate. Recommended without hesitation!

I have seen other travel adventure companies and I can say that this company is head and shoulders above any other I have seen. They may look similar on the surface but this company is ready for all contingencies. We had a member of our group who got sick from eating at a restaurant unrelated to AA before a high altitude trip and AA were able to get the person out of the mountains, into a taxi, into a hotel and seeing a doctor within a day, and we continued on without skipping a beat. The same thing happened to another traveler with another company when we were there and they basically had to fend for themselves.

Best way to explore natural beauty of NZ.....Fanatastic 👍
