ADHD NOW? More like ADHD CASH COW!
The psychiatrist that diagnosed me with ADHD is no longer practising due to an organised campaign of complaints about his chaotic and disorganised clinic. I have had my life severely impacted by ADHD to the extent where my marriage failed and I was about to lose my job when I was diagnosed. I am penniless due to compulsive behaviour and I failed all my final exams in school many years ago and have found it difficult to cope with daily life due to emotional dis-regulation and anxiety.
I went to my GP looking for him to continue my prescription and he shrugged at me before laughing about my medication and questioning its efficacy. (During a pre-diagnosis visit to a different GP at the same clinic I was told that ADHD wasn't real and I was sent for psychiatric evaluation instead.)
With only weeks left on my prescription I signed up to have my treatment transferred to ADHD now as their prices looked reasonable.
During an initial consultation with a nurse, after paying over 200 euros (for treatment with an existing diagnosis) I was told that I would need a full reassessment which would cost 600 euros including a 50% discount due to my previous diagnosis.
This annoyed me no-end but despite my reservations I agreed to go ahead as I was told the cost included two psychologist evaluations and a psychiatrist evaluation and diagnosis (if applicable.).
Today with only days left of my prescription I received a call from ADHD Now telling me that they were ready to go ahead with the first two meetings for the low cost of 900 euros including 35% discount, with more money to be paid in follow-up meetings (with no discount).The entire cost of the package without discount comes to over 2000 euros. I have wasted weeks waiting for these scammers to get back to me and now I'm going to be left without medication and treatment after they have repeatedly tricked me and lied to me.
ADHD is a real condition that can ruin peoples lives and scammers like these are taking advantage by luring in customers with fake prices and taking money one step at a time before revealing more costs with each phone call. I will be complaining to the Irish medical council who seemed more than happy to penalise my previous care provider and I hope the scam doctors participating in this money grab will join the long line of ADHD specialists and doctors who have been struck off or forced out of the profession (Dr. Sean , Dr. Joe IYKYK) These absolutely callous money grabbers are taking advantage of sick people with neurological disorders who have no other access to services and are desperate for any kind of treatment.
