Money hungry shoddy business operation
My niece was admitted but within 3 days we knew there was a better fit for her elsewhere. The clientele and amenities didn’t match her needs. Amethyst demanded out of pocket pay upfront and then refused to refund any money. They rarely receive private pay but often serve public health insured, so didn’t want to return any of our funds received upfront. They would not share refund policy. I don’t believe they have one. Staff turned rude and defensive once she wanted to transfer. We paid $28k all upfront. She stayed 3 days. We received $0 refund. The billing staff told me that they were planning a 50% refund, but since we called a week later to question the timing of the refund that we hadn’t received yet, that it would now be zero. The staff said “go ahead, file a civil suit, we always win these!” I was shocked at how unprofessional and opportunistic they were when I thought they were supposed to be professional and about what’s best for the patient. We’ll be filing the suit but unfortunately realize that when in time of vulnerable mental health need, the place that was suppose to be supportive and trusted is in fact a money hungry, shody business operation. Moreover, the admissions staff was hard selling with their wonderful, caring personal stories and misrepresentation of reality there in time of need, knowing just what to say. Be careful when dealing with this place!
