On 12/1/2025 I was punched in the eye by a patient at work. The experience was traumatic and has caused some anxiety.
I sustained an orbital floor blowout fracture of my left eye. Bone, muscle, and other eye contents have been affected. I was told that surgery is sometimes needed for this injury. I was referred to an oculoplastic surgeon and an oral maxillofacial surgeon. I was supposed to see both between 12/18/25-1/1/2026. I have never been seen by an oral maxillofacial surgeon. The oculoplastic surgeon visit was not until 3/18/26. I still do not know whether or not surgery is needed. The oculoplastic surgeon was very dismissive, the two exams lasted maybe five minutes each, the doctor left the exam room door open during the entire second visit, he completely ignored my symptoms, blamed my current symptoms on my LASIK surgery from 3/2024, ignored my complaints of pain and discomfort, didn’t offer any treatment plan, and cleared me to go back to work as a registered nurse where I use my eyes for long hours. He did not address how my eye might be healing or what to expect in the future. From what I have read, loss of vision is a possibility. I’m full of fear and anxiety, stress, I feel like I am not important and neither is my eye. The doctor’s documentation is inaccurate and his treatment borders medical malpractice. I have made my adjuster aware of all of these things.
When I expressed these issues with AmTrust and requested to be seen by another oculoplastic surgeon and to be seen by an oral maxillofacial surgeon, I was told no. I waited months to find out what is going on with my eye, cheek, nose, and inner ear. I still have no answers. I still don’t know what to expect in the future. I’m sure scar tissue has formed, and if surgery is needed it is going to be more complex than it would have been months ago.
But AmTrust is ignoring how I am feeling. They are ignoring my concerns. And, honestly, they are ignoring the potential for more complications in the future that could be more costly and that could have legal implications for the improper care that was provided, for ignoring medical recommendations and getting the proper care that I need, and for the medical records that contain improper billing codes and inaccurate notes, all of which they were made aware of.

I’m very disappointed with my experience with AmTrust. The audit review process has taken far too long, and I’ve already had to submit the audit three separate times. It’s been frustrating, time-consuming, and completely inefficient. A process like this should not require repeated submissions with no clear resolution. Communication and turnaround time need serious improvement.

I got Amtrust for a workers comp policy. Everything was fine until we got to the audit process. They ignored my paperwork and said my payroll was 10x what it was. Raised my monthly rate from $98 to $934 with no notice. Took them 4+ months to get this done. 2 wrong audits. I had to complain to the insurance commission in order to get things corrected.
Once I cancelled, I have been trying to get a refund and keep getting the runaround for it. I call and get told I'll be contacted but two weeks later and still nothing. I called again and was told there was no record and nobody had been assigned yet.
Needless to say, if I every need insurance again, I will NEVER use amtrust. Do not recommend.

I purchased a legal expenses insurance policy through AmTrust Specialty and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience when I attempted to make a claim.
My claim was ultimately rejected, but what concerned me most was how the process was handled. During the claim, I requested several call-backs, which were not actioned. Communication was poor, and I felt ignored at a time when I needed clarity and support.
I also made AmTrust aware that I have complex PTSD and should therefore be considered a vulnerable customer. Despite this, I did not receive any additional support or reasonable adjustments throughout the process. This made an already stressful situation significantly more difficult.
I escalated my complaint to the Financial Ombudsman Service, but they sided with AmTrust. Regardless of that outcome, I remain deeply dissatisfied with how I was treated as a customer.
My legal expenses policy has now ended, and I have chosen not to renew it.
I am sharing this review so that prospective customers are aware of my experience and can make an informed decision before purchasing a policy. Based on how my claim and vulnerability were handled, I would strongly advise others to think carefully before choosing this provider.

I purchased motor legal expenses insurance in good faith, believing it would cover legal costs to pursue a garage where negligence had caused damage to my vehicle.
In my case, my car was left unsecured at a garage following an MOT, and an attempted theft caused significant damage. The Ombudsman accepted that this met the definition of an insured road traffic accident under the policy. However, the claim was declined because the damage “related to an agreement entered into” with the garage.
This was surprising to me as a consumer.
From a common-sense perspective, I believed motor legal expenses cover would assist in pursuing negligence by a garage while the vehicle was in their care. The policy, however, distinguishes between negligence arising in general road traffic circumstances and situations connected to a contractual agreement.
The Ombudsman ultimately upheld the insurer’s interpretation of the exclusion.
My purpose in writing this review is not to dispute that decision, but to raise awareness for other consumers. If you are purchasing motor legal expenses cover, I would strongly encourage you to read the exclusions very carefully and consider whether the scope aligns with your expectations.
In my experience, the policy did not operate in the way I had reasonably assumed it would.
Clearer, more plain-English explanations at the point of sale about what is not covered, particularly regarding garage-related incidents, would help customers make more informed decisions.
UPDATE AS AT MARCH 2026
Following further review, I think it is important to clarify that the policy in question was administered by ARC Legal, with AmTrust acting as the underwriter. I now understand that not all motor legal expenses policies underwritten by AmTrust are structured in the same way. Some policies, depending on their design and wording, do include broader “motor contract” cover (for example, disputes relating to vehicle repairs or servicing), whereas the policy I held was interpreted by the Financial Ombudsman as a more limited road traffic accident recovery policy, and did not cover contractual disputes with garages resulting from negligence.
I am therefore not suggesting that all AmTrust-underwritten products are narrow in scope, but rather that, in my case, the specific policy wording (as applied) resulted in a level of cover that was more limited than I had reasonably expected at the point of purchase.

I received a letter over 1 week ago from Amytrust. I have rung twice and sent an email with no response over 7 days. They claim ro get back in 3 days!
The letter is in legal jargon to do with a mis sold mortgage that Pure Legal were taking up on my behalf then said they could not. That was several years ago.
This letter is out of the blue and their customer service is shocking to say the least considering I know nothing about why they have contacted me.
For all they know I could be a vulnerable adult or have a disability and this is how they support people with the customer service. This could cause serious issues for someone with mental health problems.
Appalling!

As everyone else on here has stated, stay as far away from AmTrust as possible. We ended up with them for workman's comp. My wife and I choose to be exempt being the officers of the business. Everything was fine 2 years ago when we had regular employees but last year was very tough financially for us and we only used employees occasionally. Amtrust decided at the end of the year that they didn't get enough money so made up a number that my wife and I should have been paid. Mind you, this number they made up is about what the company did in gross revenue. A number that would be impossible for us to pay ourselves. We are now on our second dispute for their audit and they are demanding a payment of almost $4000. This is about 4 times what the quote was and what we paid last year to insure our part time staff. Like I said, not to be trusted. They are impossible to talk to as no one from the audit team is actually available by phone and their customer service team is very nice but can't actually help.

Insured my let properties through CIA for the past 7 years, who took out a policy with Amtrusteu or Nottingham Claims.
My first ever claim and it’s been a waste of my time and money. They take a week or more to respond to emails and base the evidence in their favour. Now after see the other reviews I wish I would have not wasted my money and will find my own insurance with a reputable company in future. They don’t even deserve 1 star.

I have been in business for 10 years, and I have never experienced as many issues with a Workers’ Compensation company as I have with this one. During the two years I was insured with them, I disputed both audits. In one case, the State of Oregon ruled in my favor, and the other audit is still under dispute. This has resulted in unnecessary loss of time and money. My experience with this company has been extremely negative.

I’ve been dealing with AmTrust for my Workers’ Comp claim and this has been one of the most frustrating, disorganized experiences I’ve ever had. My adjuster, John Vic Salonga, and manager Tammy Williams have continuously failed to send my payments on time, even after I reported the issue multiple times.
Because of their errors, my check was delayed for over three weeks, and since then the payments have never been on a consistent schedule. Instead of correcting the issue, they just keep issuing checks as if nothing happened. Every delay puts me further behind — I’ve had late rent fees, court and eviction paperwork filed every month, late utility bills, car payment issues, and I’m struggling to keep food in my home.
When I explained this repeatedly to their manager, she called it a “courtesy” to send part of what I’m owed and then made me fill out more forms for the rest. It feels like they’re playing games instead of taking responsibility for their mistakes.
Workers’ Comp is supposed to help injured workers stay afloat, not push them deeper into hardship. AmTrust has shown a complete lack of care and professionalism. I’m now pursuing a formal investigation and penalties through the Industrial Commission of Arizona for bad-faith handling and unreasonable delays.
If you’re dealing with this company, document everything — emails, calls, and every missed payment. They’ve caused me months of stress and financial damage that could have been avoided with basic accountability. Even after I explained to them the law, they broke the poor business practices, the unfair business practices, the pattern of negligence and bad faith conduct how they can face sanctions and everything and steal. Nothing happens. They continue to act like they doing me a favor, instead of taking accountability. Thank God for social media cause it looks like they’re about to be famous.

This is my first negative rating of any company. This is the WORST company I have encountered in the past 45 years. We purchased workman comp insurance with them for many years. I retired 4 years ago with no employee or claims. Final audits clearly indicated the above to the company. However, instead of giving us some refund like other companies I worked with, this one charged me additional $800 for nothing! They did not explain to me the reason behind this. Now they sent the bill to the collection agency trying to force me to pay them. I already responded to the collection agency and am ready to fight them in court. I am writing this to inform the public that this is a dishonest, unethical company. Please stay away from them!

I have been dealing with AmTrust Europe Limited in relation to a Premier Guarantee warranty claim for my flat, which has suffered from a severe roof leak since 2018. Despite the defect clearly falling within the policy’s “Major Damage” and waterproofing cover, no qualified contractor has ever been appointed to carry out a permanent repair.
Over the years I have:
Provided extensive photographic evidence, inspection access, and a documented timeline of the defect.
Repeatedly chased updates, only to receive vague or no answers.
Been referred back to the developer/freeholder, who has already failed to resolve the issue multiple times with inadequate patch repairs.
On 13th August 2025, AmTrust’s appointed claims handler confirmed that all repair and alternative accommodation arrangements “should be directed” to the developer — despite the fact the developer has failed for over seven years to deliver a proper fix. This feels like a clear avoidance of their responsibility to intervene when the responsible party fails to act.
Meanwhile, I continue to live in a property that becomes uninhabitable during significant rainfall, with a real risk of further damage and health issues. There has been no fixed start date, no completion date, and no assurance the works will be carried out by a competent professional to building regulation standards.
My experience with AmTrust has been one of delay, poor communication, and no meaningful progress — exactly the opposite of what a warranty provider should deliver. If you are buying a new-build home, I strongly recommend you research their track record before relying on this warranty for peace of mind.
Update: I have emailed AmTrust’s feedbackresponse at amtrustgroup.com with full details of my case (roof leak at C502, Royal Crescent, Southampton). This includes the long timeline of failed repairs, ignored requests for alternative accommodation, and my recent Letter Before Action sent by recorded delivery.
I expect AmTrust to now align their feedback, complaints, and claims teams and provide a full resolution within the 14-day deadline I have set, failing which County Court proceedings will be issued.
