Awful
Having shared our lifes with our very precious Henry Bengal cat, we where referred to this vets, I was full of hope..
He had been suffering for a few months with not being able to purr without discomfort in the form of fluid being produced in his throat and him trying to huck it out. Because of this we could no longer cuddle or really go to near him, as he would start to purr and so associated this discomfort with us, which was a natural response which he could not help. After seeing 6 vets we were referred to Anderson and Moores specialists, where we thought this is it, finally he will get the help needed. We had a consultation and was told after given medication to see if it would help and it did not, that he needed to have a Endoscopy/Laparoscopy to examine his throat and beyond. We were given a price, and obviously we excepted having this done. On the day he was taken for the procedure, and then brought back to us when the operation was over, where the vet explained that he had 'Laryngeal Paralysis' to which there was no cure, except to have a 'tieback' which would leave his airway permanently open, but the vet said this could be problematic so it was not done, and we should just take him home as there was nothing else to be done and eventually his breathing would get very bad.
After 3 weeks we went to the new forest in our motorhome with him as he always came with us no matter where we went. After being there an hour he started to really struggle breathing with his tounge hanging out the side of his mouth. We threw everything in the motorhome and went home, as we knew this was his time. He suffered terribly as we could not get a vet out for a hours and hours, It was very traumatic for him and for us watching him, I won't go into all details as it was just awful..
We have since been advised that the Gold standard procedure for Laryngeal Paralysis was a Tie Back. So during the procedure at Anderson and Moores, we should of been told what was found whilst he was under anesthetic, and been given the choice of having the procedure or not, instead of this happening these vets decided for us. We would of said to go ahead as at least he would not of died in the traumatic way he did. He did not deserve to die the way he did. He had been a wonderful loyal best friend and was our precious boy for nearly 20 years, and enjoyed travelling all over Europe with us every year in the motorhome..
We were charged all together £4396.00 (no insurance which has always been are choice) which we obviously paid. I would of paid anything to have him made better..
Because of his age, it was not safe to put him through the sedation again to get the tie back done, where as if we had been given the choice whilst he was already under the anesthetic, he would of had the procedure under one anesthetic.
When we were given the price of the Endoscopy etc, I informed them that he did not need to have bloods analysed as I had provided them with a full blood report as he had already had them done, but they still charged me for the bloods and when I questioned this saying he did not need them done the vet just said 'sorry' these were charged at over £300..
Anderson and Moores are a diabolical vets and from our first visit we were given the impression that cats were not their favourite. On our first visit we were told he needed to be in a basket, but he is always on a lead and was being carried by myself, we were ushered into a side room, this also happened again on the next visit..
Doing tests that were not needed and then just saying 'sorry' for doing them, not giving him a chance of having a better life, and not treating our Bengal with perfect care, leaves me with just one conclusion, all they care about is making as much money as possible instead of giving the excellent care they advertise.
PLEASE don't trust your beloved pet with this vets, especially if you have a cat..
I'm absolutely broken Heartbroken!!
If this helps anyone making the right decision about Anderson and Moores, I will be so pleased..
Thank you for reading.x
