Not even one star. Since my mother passed away 10 July APIA have consistently sent me emails and my solicitor without closing her account.
Their process is generic and distressing.
They’re asking for the information over and over.

So far storm damage which happened on January 2/2026 has taken nine months to get any repairs done.
They throw money at you and expect you to get the work done.
You are dealing with various companies associated with QBE.
You are also dealing with a contracted intermediary company NEXUS.
They seem to have few employees in NSW and all entities go to Queensland.

Reached out to Apia with complaint. Complaint acknowledged however, no follow up.

Called Apia today for an update. They have zero interest in the complaint referring me back to O’Brians and further outlined reference to my policy in that Again Apia do not used genuine parts for fixing they use after market parts.

When I age I will never ever use APIA due to the Robo calling Marketing they use "Hello this is James from Apia" every other week I get this. I am not interested I have contacted Apia and requested removal of my number but still it keeps coming at this point it is so many calls that would label it harassment. Avoid this mob seriously anyone who does business this way is not worth you hard earned money.

Extremely disappointed with APIA. I have been a customer for around two years, and after this experience, I seriously regret choosing them for my insurance.

My car has been with them for over two weeks, and I still have no clear answer about whether it will be repaired or written off. I have had to keep following up myself, and now I have been told that the review is “on hold” without being given a clear reason or a definite timeframe for a decision.

When you pay for insurance for years, you expect support, communication and reasonable service when you actually need to make a claim. Instead, this experience has caused me unnecessary stress and frustration.

If I had known this was the level of service I would receive when I actually needed my insurance, I would never have insured my car with APIA. I am extremely disappointed and would not recommend this experience to others.

Motor vehicle damage and claims process, I recently needed to submit a claim resulting from an incident.

My experience and this process was seamless and the assessment of my car and the damage was very well managed. Both APIA and their preferred repairer were extremely proactive, professional and identified issues I was not aware of. Very satisfied with care and outcome.

generally speaking, after several attempts online and by phone, today was an unpleasant experience with APIA. Multiple questions or concerns were answered with 'yes, how can i help you' when i had already explained the problems. Frustrating and unpleasant with Australia's GIO / APIA.

APIA handling of my claim has been far better than I ever expected. Assistance on the night of collision and flexibility to get car towed back home for repairs the next day fantastic. Claims process a bit slow, which understandable given high cost of repairs. But get the right person assessor and things move very quickly. Very happy customer

I added home assist to my package with Apia home insurance. Last night we had an emergency arise our power went out at 5-30pm. At first we thought it was a blackout then by 6-30 we realized our neighbors had electricity. I called our electricty supplier who then advised us to called Ausgrid. Ausgrid were great they came out rather quickly they then advised us it was a electricians job. I called the APIA EMERGENCY NUMBER there was a recording that advised they're opening hrs were 7am . They're website clearly states it's a 24 hr EMERGENCY SERVICE. To be honest I was absolutely disgusted. I will not be recommending this company to anyone and ppl I have in the past will be notified of this experience.

Poor if no communication, felt like nothing would have happened if I hadn’t chased it. Repairs to car (broken window from a smash and grab) took several days. Was never advised I could get a temporary fix to the window so had to manipulate travel for days around weather conditions. 8 months later I am still waiting for money notwithstanding I paid my excess and replaced the stolen items months ago.

I am hardly a pensioner and wonder how someone older and less tech savvy than me would cope with this process. Sounds as though many of their call centres have been off shored. Overall - frustration 10/10, satisfaction at this stage 0/10.

Long time customer of APIA for motor vehicle comprehensive policies over the past 15 years. Just bought a new car and could not believe how uncompetative APIA has become for low risk Protected 1 for life driver. Well with RACV $500 less expensive with my Gold total care card, the decision was easy.
No complaints with APIA service, though only 1 minor at fault claim in 15 years. Are we really the customers you want to lose?

No stars my experience is this: For well over two years I have received repeated unsolicited marketing calls from people identifying themselves as calling on behalf of Apia Health Insurance.
I have repeatedly told the caller that I am not interested and have asked for the calls to stop. Instead, the calls have continued from different phone numbers, making it impossible to stop them simply by blocking the numbers. Its mainly someone called 'James' ?
I have now lodged a formal complaint with Suncorp, as Apia is part of the Suncorp Group, requesting that my details be removed from all marketing lists and that this matter be investigated.
Persistent unwanted marketing calls after repeatedly asking for them to stop are not acceptable and its harrassment.

I had to make my first claim this week in all the years I have been with Apia.
Waiting for a problem to occour was pessemistic. I am so grateful to the staff who processed the claim and to OBriens who fixed the screen the following day. They too were just efficient and very professional.

Terrible product and service. It is awful to try and claim the insurance that my parents have paid OFF over years and when one of them passes the claim process is nothing short of misleading at best. Let alone the fact you need to nominate a beneficiary prior to your death which they don't let you know about when you sign up. It is a terrible scam and should be made illegal to do this to elderly people.

I will never ever recommend them and we were with them for years. Bought a new secondhand car and it has a 15 cm scratch on it, they won't insure it. Believe it or not. I couldn't. I was gobsmacked. Secondhand from a well know car company and it has one scratch on it and they would not insure it. I will never ever go with them again and no wonder they get such poor reviews.

I'm an aged pensioner, and I find Apia have a disregard for the pensioners with the over charger each year when their logo is supposed to benefit us. I rang to complain and was rudely spoken to, explaining to me in no uncertain terms that they would not comply reasonably. I'm going elsewhere, so Pensioners shop around

My sister and I have never dealt with a company that just doesn’t know how to respond. Our mother went into a nursing home last year. We’ve been trying to cancel home insurance but are getting no where. We feel they are robots we are dealing with. Every other service we’ve cancelled with a letter from the nursing home confirming my mother is in full time care. Apia request the same information continually. They are no help what so ever! My advice, don’t insure with them!

Have been waiting over a year for them to process our claim every time we ring we get someone new and they say they will ring back but never do .They said they were sending someone out over 6 months ago we are still waiting They don't care about pensioners at all.

I put a claim to Apia about my bedroom ceiling coming away they were very responsive too support it from falling down on since then four weeks later still have support timbers holding it up have had a builder out to support it then another person to look at then a roofer to look an now a engineer is coming out I have three car policies with them an house an contents insurance I’m thinking I might need too take my business elsewhere if that how they treat pensioners very disappointed

By contrast, I made a claim with Apia to repair my ATTO 3. They not only repaired the vehicle perfectly, and with grace, they gave me an EV replacement vehicle while the car was being repaired.
